He held the under-mentioned rent.
Trethake by Lanteglos. 1d. rent, held of the king by knight’s service, as of his castle of Launceston.
He died on Thursday before All Saints, 15 Richard II. Thomas, aged 19 years, is his son and heir.
The prior and convent of St German’s in Cornwall have taken the marriage of the said Thomas.

She held the under-mentioned manor and messuage etc. in fee tail by gift of Roger Virly, Simon Blicling, Peter de Lyngwode and William de Toune of Ayleshamburgh, chaplain, by licence of Edward III, to the said Geoffrey and Christina and the heirs of their bodies, with successive reversions to Roger brother of the said Geoffrey, and the heirs of his body, William brother of the said Geoffrey, and the heirs of his body, and the right heirs of the said Christina.
Becham. The manor, held of the king in chief.
Schipden. A messuage, 35a. land, and 24s. 2d. rent, held of Robert Ufford, knight, Simon de Felbrigg, knight, John Reynes, John Hastynges and the heirs of Robert Herward, service unknown.
She died on 8 July last. Cecily daughter of Robert son of Roger Aleyns, brother of the said Geoffrey, aged 3 years and more, is her heir.
Edward Durdant of the county of Buckingham, Bartholomew Everard of Schipden and William Ulf of Becham have taken the issues since the said Christina’s death and ought to answer the king therefor.

SUFFOLK. Inq. (indented) taken at Somerleton, Monday before the Annunciation, 17 Richard II.
The said Thomas held the under-mentioned messuage etc. William Wynter, sheriff of Suffolk, took the profits thereof for a year after his death.
Somerleton and Blunston. A messuage, 11 1/2a. arable and 2a. marsh, held of Anne queen of England, by socage and by service of 12d. rent yearly.
He died on 3 January, 16 Richard II. Margery daughter of William Asshman his brother, aged 50 years and more, is his heir.

WILTS. Inq. (indented) taken at Wermenstre, 13 December, 17 Richard II.
She held the under-mentioned manors and advowson for life, the reversion at one time belonging to Elizabeth late the wife of Edward le Despencer, knight, lord of Glammorgan and Morgannogh, daughter and heir of the above-mentioned Bartholomew, but at the time of Margaret’s death to the warden and scholars of the college called Seyntmariecollege of Wynchestre in Oxford and their successors. In the quinzaine of Martinmas, 11 Richard II, a fine was levied between William de Wykeham, bishop of Winchester, master John de Wykeham, clerk, master John Campeden, clerk, Robert Cherlton and Thomas le Warenner of Winchester, querents, and the said Elizabeth deforciant, whereby the reversion of the said manors and advowson was granted by Elizabeth to the querents and their heirs; and by virtue of the said grant the above-mentioned William Burcestre and Margaret attorned to the bishop and the other grantees, the king’s licence for the grant having been obtained. Afterwards the said grantees granted the reversion to the aforesaid warden and scholars and their successors to hold in pure and perpetual alms, and the said William and Margaret attorned to them accordingly.
Sterte and Colerne. The manors and the advowson of the church of Colerne, held of the king in chief, services not known.
She died on 1 July last. John Pychard, aged 30 years and more, is her son and heir.

GLOUCESTER. Inq. (indented) taken at Neweport, Saturday before St Clement, 17 Richard II.
She lately held the under-mentioned moiety, and enfeoffed thereof in fee William Crok and Matthew Waleys, who afterwards without the king’s licence granted it to her for life, with remainder to John Deveros of Staundon, knight, and Joan his wife and the heirs of their bodies and with remainder over to the said right heirs of the said John. Afterwards, by a fine which she made with the king in the Chancery, the king pardoned her the said trespass by letters patent dated 15 November, 9 Richard II.
Button alias Oldelond. A moiety of the manor, held of the king in chief by knight’s service.
She died on the morrow of the Assumption last. John Botiller, son of Walter Jouet, aged 40 years and more, is her kinsman and next heir.

She held the under-mentioned messuages etc. for life by gift and feoffment of John Venablys and Matthew Waleys, with successive remainders to Edmund Basset for life, and to John Loterell, lord of Estcontokeshede, John Bluet, William Poulet the elder, Richard Ayssh, John Sydenham of Briggewater and John Grove, their heirs and assigns.
Congresbury. A messuage, a water-mill and 80a. land and meadow, held of Ralph, bishop of Bath and Wells, as of his manor of Congresbury, by knight’s service, suit to the said bishop’s court of Congresbury manor, and service of 8 marks yearly.
Yatton. A messuage and 80a. land and meadow, held of the same bishop by knight’s service, suit to the said bishop’s court of Yatton twice a year, and service of 13s. 4d. yearly.

WORCESTER. Inq. (indented) taken at Shipston, Monday after St Hilary, 17 Richard II.
He held the under-mentioned manor and lands etc. in his demesne as of fee.
Hull by Fladbury. Two hides of land, held by Henry, bishop of Worcester, by service of a moiety of a knight’s fee.
Waresleye. The manor, held of Thomas de Bello Campo, earl of Warwick, by service of a moiety of a knight’s fee.
Brymarton. A messuage and a carucate of land, held of the same earl by knight’s service, amount not known.
He died on Thursday after Michaelmas, 10 Richard II. William his son, aged 14 years and more and in the king’s wardship, is his heir.
From the time of his death until Wednesday before the Annunciation, 17 Richard II, the said bishop of Worcester occupied the premises in Hull and took the issues and profits thereof, by what title the jurors know not; since then, William Wylycotes has taken the said issues and profits. The issues and profits of the premises in Waresleye and Brymarton have been taken ever since his death by Robert Waldeve, by what title the jurors know not.

WARWICK. Inq. taken at Warwick, Saturday after the Epiphany, 17 Richard II.
He held in his demesne as of fee the under-mentioned manors and the lands etc. in Overetyndon and Lyndon.
Margaret who was the wife of Roger Bisshoppesdon, father of the said Thomas, was enfeoffed jointly with her husband of the under-mentioned messuages and land in Wellesburn, the reversion belonging to the said Thomas.
He also held the under-mentioned view of frankpledge and rent.
Overetyndon. A messuage, the fourth part of a virgate of land and a croft called Knythtescroft, held of the king in chief by knight’s service, but the amount of the service is not known.

Lyndon. A messuage, 6 bovates of land, held of the king in chief by service of a twentieth part of a knight’s fee.

Since the death of the said Thomas, Robert Waldeve of Warwick has taken the issues of the premises in Overetyndon, Lyndon and Bisshoppesdon, the aforesaid Gerard those of the manor of Thornton and the said Thomas Boteller the rent in Wellesburn Mountford, by what titles the jurors know not. Margaret wife of Roger Bisshoppesdon occupied the messuages etc. in Wellesburn until her death on 20 May, 15 Richard II, since when the said Thomas Boteller has taken the issues, by what title the jurors know not.

He held the under-mentioned wood in Wilughby in his demesne as of fee.
He held the under-mentioned 6 messuages etc. in Byllesby etc. in joint feoffment with Joan his wife, who is still living, by gift and feoffment of John de Haghe.
He held the under-mentioned lands etc. in Louth and Thetilthorp as of the right and inheritance of the said Joan his wife.
Wilughby. 12a. wood in a place called Welle Parke, held of the king in chief by knight’s service.
Byllesby, Farlesthorp, Anderby, Hoggesthorp, Markeby, Hotoft, Dalby, Alford, Sauxthorp, Langton and Drexthorp. 6 messuages, 4 cottages, 5 bovates of land, 24 1/2a. meadow, 22a. pasture and 8l. 7s. 6d. rent of assize of free tenants holding at will, held of Robert de Wilughby, knight, William de Asfordeby, the heirs of Peter Bavent, Roger de Welby and others (but not the king), service not known.
Louth. A messuage, 2 cottages, a bovate of land, a water-mill, 43s. 2d. rent of assize, a rent of one cock and 2 hens, and of a summer boonwork of lifting and making hay in a meadow called Malerbe enges, every day from the day of mowing until the hay is put in cocks and dry, held of the bishop of Lincoln by knight’s service.
Thetilthorp. 16 1/2a. land and a third part of a windmill, held of Robert de Wylughby, knight, by knight’s service and by service of a rent of 10s. yearly.
He died on 28 March last. Thomas de Billesby, his son, aged one year on the morrow of the Exaltation of the Holy Cross last, is his heir.

SALOP. Inq. taken at Shrewsbury, Monday after the Annunciation, 17 Richard II.
He held the under-mentioned manors of Hagurkote, Aston Eyr and Wythiford and messuage etc. in Aldenham in his demesne as of fee.
Long before his death he granted by deed indented the under-mentioned manor of Appeley, a fourth part of the manor of Preston on Wildemor and messuages etc. in Welyngton, Whapenashale, Kynley, Halghton and Trillewardyn to John atte Wode for life, and to the executors of the said John for a year after the latter’s death. On the day of his death he held the reversion of the premises expectant on the demise of the said John.
Hagurkote. The manor, held of the king in chief by knight’s service.
Aston Eyr. The manor, held of Richard earl of Arundel, service not known.
Aldenham. A messuage and a virgate of land, held of the lord of Aldenham, service not known.
Wythiford. The manor, whereof one moiety is held of the lord of Wemme, service not known, and the other moiety is held of the earl of Arundel, service not known.
Appeley. The manor.
Preston on Wildemor. A fourth part of the manor.
Welyngton. 4 messuages, a toft, 60a. land and 10a. meadow.
Whapenashale. A messuage and a virgate of land.
Kynley. A messuage and a carucate of land.

The last six items are held of Hugh Burnell, knight, service not known.
He died on 6 October, 11 Richard II. Thomas his son, aged 12 years and more, is his heir.
On 22 June, 12 Richard II, the king by letters patent granted and sold the custody of the aforesaid manors of Hagurkote, Aston Eyr and Wythiford, and messuage etc. in Aldenham for 50l. to John de Harleston, clerk, Thomas de Overton, clerk, and John Bonette, to the use of Richard earl of Arundel, to hold from the time of the death of the said Thomas de Cherleton until the lawful age of his heir, together with the marriage of the said heir, and they occupied the same accordingly and took the issues and profits thereof until 15 February, 12 Richard II, on which day they granted and sold the same, to the use of the said earl, to John de Knyghtley the younger, to hold until the lawful age of the said heir. Since then the said John de Knyghtley has occupied the manors etc. and taken the issues and profits thereof.
For a year after the death of the said John atte Wode who died on 20 November, 15 Richard II, his executors occupied the aforesaid manor of Appeley, fourth part of the manor of Preston on Wildemor, and messuages etc. in Welyngton, Whapenashale, Kynley, Halghton and Trillewardyn by virtue of the grant aforesaid. On 8 February, 15 Richard II, the king by letters patent granted and sold the custody of the same for 32 marks to the aforesaid John de Knyghtley the younger, to hold from the end of the said year until the lawful age of the heir of the said Thomas de Cherleton; and he has occupied the same and taken the issues and profits thereof ever since.

KENT. Inq. taken at Billerika, Monday before Easter, 17 Richard II.
He held the under-mentioned moiety by the courtesy of England after the death of Alice his wife.
Strete. A moiety of the manor, which manor is held of the king in chief by homage and fealty and service of half a knight’s fee, and also by service of rendering for ward of the king’s castle of Dover 15s. yearly at the feast of the Conversion of St Paul. An extent of the manor is given, including 36s. rent of assize from free tenants in Billerika, Lymne, Selkynge by Hethe, Demcherche and Borewaremerssh. There are also there 124a. land of gavelkind tenure which are held of Henry Home, master of the Domus Dei of Osprenge, John Bovyle, John Spycer and the heirs of John de Soles by divers gavelkind services.
He died on Saturday before the Purification last. John Colvyle, knight, his son by the said Alice, aged 25 years and more, is next heir of him and the said Alice.

He held the under-mentioned manor and lands in his demesne as of fee.
Walsokne. The manor, and 171a. land there, held of Adam de Clyfton, knight, as of the hundred of Freth’, by service of 6s. and suit to the said hundred twice a year at Michaelmas and Easter.
Walsokne. 300a. land, held of the bishop of Ely by service of 4s. yearly, and suit to the bishop’ court at his manor of Westwalton; 10a. land, held of the prior of Lewes by service of 9d. yearly; 12a. land, held of Walter Danyel by service of 42d. yearly, and Walter holds in chief of the prior of Lewes; and 42a. land, held of the abbot of Ramseye, service not known.

Ovenhell in the parish of Boxele. A toft, 12a. 7a. meadow, 22a. pasture, 13s. 4d. rent and a rent of 2 hens, held of the king in chief by service of finding for the king in every Welsh war a horse, a sack and a ‘broche’ at the king’s costs.
Alynton. The castle and manor, held of John Kyrkeby, as of his manor of Horton, by service of half a knight’s fee.
He died on 8 February last. Reynold Cobeham, his son, aged 21 years on 10 June, 16 Richard II, is his heir.

He held the under-mentioned rent in his demesne as of fee.
Chesham. 10s. yearly rent issuing from certain lands etc. held of him by knight’s service by Robert Bardolf, knight, and Anne his wife; which rent is held of the king in chief by knight’s service.
He died on 26 January last. John Cyfrewest, his son, aged 22 years and more, is his heir.

SUFFOLK. Inq. (indented) taken at Henhowe, Thursday after St Matthew, 17 Richard II.
He was seised of the under-mentioned manor in his demense as of fee, and gave it to Thomas Gernon, vicar of the church of Barye, William Steverton of the same, John Foghlere of the same and John Wayte of Warefield, and their assigns, for the life of Katharine his wife, saving the reversion to himself and his neirs. The said grantees were seised accordingly, and afterwards granted the manor to him and the said Katharine and their assigns, for the life of the same Katharine; and he and Katharine were seised accordingly on the day of his death. Katharine is still living.
Colford. The manor called Esthalle, held of the abbot of Bury St Edmunds, services not known.

BERKS. Inq. (indented) taken at Maydenhithe, 17 February, 17 Richard II.
He held the under-mentioned manor, advowson and land etc.
Clyware. The manor (extent given), with the advowson of the church thereof, held of the king in chief by service of a moiety of a knight’s fee and 20s. yearly, and by suit to the king’s court of the seven hundreds every three weeks. The extent includes a fishery, 2 water-mills in one house under one roof near the manor, certain free tenants in New Wyndesore, certain customary tenants rendering. 5 1/2d. at ‘Hokkeday’ for works called ‘shipselvyr’ and 12d.
Braye. 3a. 1r. land, held of the queen of England by service of 12d. yearly.
And there is a chapel or oratory in honour of St Leonard within the lordship of the manor aforesaid which before the time of memory was founded by the then lord of the manor and endowed with a messuage, 60a. land, 20a. pasture and 6a. wood called Ermytage for the support of a chaplain to celebrate divine service therein. The said lord by his own right conferred it on a secular chaplain; and since then, as often as it has become vacant, the lords of the manor have been wont to confer it on a chaplain. The said John Cyfrewast, late lord of the said manor of Clyware, as true patron of the chapel, long before his death, to wit, on the feast of St Leonard, 15 Richard II, conferred it, with the above-mentioned messuage etc., on John Wadup, chaplain, who is still living, and the said John Wadup occupied it and was seised thereof accordingly until he was unjustly expelled by a certain John Belyng, chaplain.

He died seised of the under-mentioned manor of Avene as of the right of Ellen his wife.
Draycote. The manor, with the advowson of the church thereof, held of the king in chief by service of half a knight’s fee and a rent of 7l. 6s. 8d. to be paid yearly at the Exchequer by the hands of the sheriff.
