NORTHUMBERLAND. Inq. taken at Morpath, Wednesday after St. Hilary, 6 Richard II.
He held the under-mentioned lands etc. for life by grant of Robert de Lumley, knight.
Langhurst. 8 husband-lands, 8 cottages and 80 a. demesne, 3s. 4d. rent from lands formerly of William Taillour, and the service of William Peresson.
Le Aldmore. 40 a. demesne land, 2 husband-lands, 2 cottages, a third part of a husband-land and a third part of a cottage, and the services of Robert Collesson, William Wryght and John S … son, together with the service of the heirs of John de Esshenden.
The reversion of the premises after his death belongs to Ralph son and heir of Marmaduke de Lumley son and heir of Robert de Lumley, a minor in the king’s wardship, aged 20 years on 9 April last. All the premises are held of the heirs of Robert Bertram of Bothell by fealty.
John de Lumley died on Sunday after the Purification, 49 Edward III.
Since his death John de Nevill, lord of Raby, has occupied the premises and received the profit thereof, title not known.

SOMERSET. Inq. taken at Bath, Thursday before St. Peter’s Chains, 7 Richard II.
He held the under-mentioned manor in his demesne as of fee.
Laverton. The manor, held of the king in chief by knight’s service.
He died on Monday after St. Martin, 48 Edward III. Edmund Moigne, his son, aged 10 years, is his heir.
John Kentecomb occupied the manor and received the issues from the time of Edmund’s death until Michaelmas last by virtue of a statute merchant made to him by the said Edmund, and not otherwise. Since then John Panes of Purrugg has occupied it and received the issues, title not known.

LINCOLN. Inq. taken at Sleford, Thursday after St. Ambrose, 6 Richard II.
He held no lands etc. in the county at the time of his death; but three years ago he enfeoffed Sir Roger de Wyntryngham, clerk, of all the under-mentioned lands etc., to hold to him, his heirs and assigns.
Iwardby. All his lands there, worth 4 marks yearly, held of the prioress of Grace Dieu by service of 5s. 4d. yearly and 2s. 6d. yearly for sheriff’s aid.
He died on Good Friday (dies Parascephes) last. Peter son of his son Peter, aged 5 years and more, is his heir.

YORK. Inq. taken at Pokelyngton, Saturday after the Close of Easter, 6 Richard II.
He held the under-mentioned manor of Seton in Clyveland jointly with Constance, his wife, to them and the heirs of their bodies, by grant of William de Ake, parson of the church of Lokyngton, John de Brathwill, parson of the church of Hilderwell, Robert Lorymer and William de Malton.
He held the under-mentioned moiety of the manor of Helagh jointly with the said Constance, to them and the heirs male of his body, with remainder to his right heirs, by a fine levied in the late king’s court.
He held the under-mentioned messuages etc. in Kyllyngwyk etc. jointly with the said Constance, to them and the heirs of their bodies, with remainder to his right heirs, by grant of Richard de Ravenser, clerk, John de Hothom, knight, Thomas de Malo Lacu and Thomas de Beverley.
He held the remaining under-mentioned castle and manors in his demesne as of fee.
Mulgreve. The castle and manor, with members, held of the king in chief by knight’s service.
Doncastre. The manor, with its members, held of the king in chief by knight’s service. It is worth 40 marks yearly and no more, because William de Aldeburgh and Margery, his wife, who is still living, hold the hamlets of Bramham, Hexthorp, Balby and Sandale, parcels of the manor, for the term of Margery’s life, with the king’s licence.
Rosyngton. The manor, with its members, held of the king in chief by knight’s service.
Briddesale. The manor, with its members, held of the king in chief by knight’s service. It is worth 40s. yearly and no more, because William de Aldeburgh and Margery, his wife, hold 20l. land and rent there as above.
Baynton. The manor, with its members, held of the king in chief by knight’s service. It is worth 58l. yearly and no more, because the said William and Margery hold the town of Lokyngton, parcel of the manor, as above.
Bergh. The manor (tenure not specified).
Seton in Clyveland. The manor, held of the king in chief by knight’s service.
Helagh in Swalledale. A moiety of the manor, held of the earl of Richemond by knight’s service.
Kyllyngwyk, Hundmanby and Appilgarth. 15 messuages, 30 bovates of land and 10 a. meadow, held of the king in chief by knight’s service.

NORFOLK. Inq. taken at Kenynghale, 30 September, 6 Richard II.
He held the under-mentioned manor jointly with Elizabeth, his wife, who is still living, to them and the heirs of their bodies, by gift of the said earl of Salisbury, with reversion to the earl and his heirs.
Kenynghale. The manor (extent given), held of the king in chief by knight’s service. The extent includes a hundred called the hundred of Gildecros which pertains to the manor, a rent for hunting called ‘huntyngsylver,’ a rent called ‘shergovel,’ a park with deer, a fishery in Semere, a leet, a market every Monday, and a fair held on the feast of St. Thomas the Apostle.
He died on 6 August last without heir of his body.

Writ: 26 August, 6 Richard II
YORK. Inq. taken at York, Wednesday after the Nativity of the Virgin Mary, 6 Richard II.
She was jointly enfeoffed with the said Peter, her husband, of the under-mentioned castle and manors etc., to hold to them and the heirs of their bodies, with remainder to Peter’s right heirs, by grant of John de Maulay, late parson of the church of Baynton, with the king’s licence. After her husband’s death she enfeoffed Henry de Percy, Roger de Clifford, Richard de Ravenser, archdeacon of Lincoln, William de Fyncheden, knight, and John de Moubray, knight, and also John de Hothom, knight, Thomas Maulay, William de Ake, parson of the church of Lokyngton, and Hugh de Bulmer, of the premises, to hold for the term of her life, with remainder to the right heirs of her said husband.
Mulgreve. The castle and manor, and the manors of Doncastre, Baynton, Rosington, Bruddessall and Bergh, with the knights’ fees and advowsons pertaining thereto and the advowson of the church of Lokyngton, held of the king in chief by knight’s service. 20l. yearly rent was granted with the king’s licence out of the manor of Briddessall to Peter de Malo Lacu, the seventh, now deceased, and Margery, his wife, who is still living, and the heirs of their bodies.
The said Margaret died on 8 August last. Peter de Malo Lacu, the sixth, knight, begotten between her and her said husband, is her heir. He is 40 years of age and more.

NORTHAMPTON. Inq. taken at Chacombe, 1 April, 6 Richard II.
The under-mentioned site etc. came to the hands of Edward III by the death of John de Moubray, knight, the earl’s father, and by reason of the earl’s minority, and are thus in the present king’s hand.
Chacombe. The site of the manor with the garden adjacent, and 4 carucates of land and 16 a. meadow, held of John bishop of Lincoln by knight’s service.
The earl died on 8 February last. Thomas de Moubray, his brother, aged 17 years and more, is his heir.

ESSEX. Inq. taken at Aungre, Tuesday before St. Mark, 6 Richard II.
The under-mentioned moiety came to the hands of Edward III on the death of John de Moubray, earl of Nottingham (sic), by reason of the minority of the said earl’s heir.
Morton. A moiety of the manor of Morton called ‘Ladyhall,’ held of the king in chief as parcel of the said manor by the following service, to wit, that whenever the king of England shall make an expedition to the parts of Wales to war with the men of that country as his enemies, then the lord or lords of the said manor of Morton shall provide a horse, price 10s., and a bag, with a man to carry divers of the king’s victuals to those parts in the king’s service for 40 days. And a certain parcel of the said moiety is held of the earl of Stafford by suit to his hundred of Aungre every three weeks.
The earl died on Monday before Palm Sunday last. Heir as above, aged 19 years and more.

John Moubray, knight, died seised in fee of the under-mentioned manor and knights’ fees, which were seized after his death by Edward III by reason of the minority of the said late earl, his son and heir, and were subsequently seized by the present king because the earl was a minor at the death of Edward III.
Epworth. The manor, in the isle of Haxeholm, held (with the under-mentioned fees) of the king in chief by knight’s service.
The following fees outside the said isle pertain to the manor of Epworth.
South Feriby. A moiety of a fee, formerly held by the heirs of the earl of Kent.

WORCESTER. Inq. taken on Wednesday after the Nativity of the Virgin Mary, 7 Richard II.
The under-mentioned and lands etc. came to the king’s hands by the death of the said Elizabeth and by reason of the minority of Wiliam, her son and heir.
Northegrave. A capital messuage there within the king’s manor of Fekenham, which is of the ancient demesne of the crown, 4 bovates of land, a field called ‘Ruyfeld’ containing 12 a. land, 1/2 a. meadow and 2s. rent of free tenants, held of the king in chief, as of the said manor, by service of 9s. 6d. yearly and suit to the court of the manor every three weeks.
Le Wynmilhull. 6 a. land thereon, with a parcel of meadow lying at the head of the said acres, held of John Paunsfote, son and heir of Hugh Paunsfote, by service of rendering 1 lb. pepper at Michaelmas.
The said William died on Trinity Sunday, 5 Richard II. Katharine and Maud, his sisters, aged respectively 23 years and more and 18 years and more, are his heirs. [Underwritten in another hand:—Richard Beaumont, Katharine’s husband, and Richard Avenell, Maud’s husband.]
Since his death John Wybbe of Hambury has had possession of the premises and received the issues thereof.

HEREFORD. Inq. taken at Ledbury, Monday the feast of St. Matthew, 7 Richard II.
The under-mentioned fraction of a manor came to the king’s hands by the death of the said Elizabeth, who died on 1 December, 2 Richard II, and by reason of the minority of William, her son and heir.
Great Tadynton. Two-thirds of a sixth part of the manor (extent given), held of the king in chief by service of a sixth part of a knight’s fee. The extent includes rents of parcels in Bolyngeop and Clehonger.
Date of death and heirs as above.
John Wybbe of Hambury had possession of the premises from the death of Elizabeth until the death of William, and received the issues. Henry Moton, late escheator, had possession and received the issues from the death of William until 12 December, 6 Richard II. The above-mentioned William son and heir of Elizabeth Northgrave is the same person as the William Northgrove who was stated by an inquisition carelessly (minus provide) taken before the said escheator ex officio to have held the premises in his demesne as of fee on the day of his death.

Writ to the escheator to enquire touching a report that the said Margery held lands in the counties of Warwick and Leicester which ought to remain after her death to Godfrey son of Godfrey son of Godfrey Foljambe, knight, a minor in the king’s wardship. 26 January, 6 Richard II.
WARWICK. Inq. taken at Nuneton, Saturday the feast of St. Valentine, 6 Richard II.
She held the under-mentioned moiety of a manor for life; and it ought to remain after her death to the said minor and his heir.
Whityngton. A moiety of the manor held of the manor of Grendon, co. Warwick, by knight’s service. The tenants of the moiety have received the issues ever since her death.
She died on Wednesday before Michaelmas last.

Writ of Mandamus, 18 February, 6 Richard II
SALOP AND THE ADJACENT MARCH OF WALES. Inq. taken at Shrewsbury, Friday before St. Chad the Bishop, 6 Richard II.
Before he was adherent to the enemies of Edward III in the march aforesaid, he held the under-mentioned manor to him and the heirs of his body by a fine (quoted) levied in the king’s court at Westminster in the quinzaine of Trinity, 15 Edward III, between Thomas Retheryk, knight, and Cecily, his wife (by Richard Russell, her attorney), querents, and William atte Lake, chaplain, and Robert Blakenhale chaplain, deforciants, whereby the manor was settled on the said Thomas and Cecily and the heirs of their bodies, with successive remainders to John de Cherleton, the elder, and Hawise, his wife, and the heirs of their bodies, and to the right heirs of the said Hawise. The fine was made by order of the king himself.
Dynas. The manor (extent given), held of the king in chief by knight’s service. The extent includes a wood called ‘le Frith Dynas,’ a wood called ‘Garthheull,’ and a rent called ‘Kychwyr.’
Date of death not known, because he was killed in parts beyond seas, as the king’s enemy and rebel, three or four years ago. He died without heir of his body, so that the manor ought to remain by the form of the above fine to John son and heir of John son and heir of John son and heir of the aforesaid John de Cherleton and Hawise, who is 22 years of age and more.
John Shery, one of the executors of the will of the aforesaid John the father, has had possession of the manor since the death of Owen, title not known.
Writ to the king’s treasurer and chamberlains to search the feet of fines which are in the king’s treasury under their custody, and send a transcript of the above fine without delay. 4 March, 6 Richard II.

834. John, son and heir of William de Rodebergh, or Redberwe
Writ to the escheator to enquire as to the lands and heir of the said John, who has died while a minor in the king’s wardship, and is said to have held by knight’s service of the alien priory of Derherst, which is in the king’s hand on account of the war with France. 20 January, 6 Richard II.
GLOUCESTER. Inq. taken at Tetteburi, Wednesday after the Purification, 6 Richard II.
He held the under-mentioned manor (estate not specified).
Legh by Durherste. The manor, held of the said priory of Durherste by service of a fourth part of a knight’s fee.
He died on Friday after Michaelmas, 6 Richard II. Agnes and Alice, his sisters, aged respectively 20 years and more and 13 years, are his heirs. Philip de Rodebergh has married the said Agnes to John son of John Brounyng without the king’s licence, and has received the profit of the marriage, to wit, 20l., to his own use. He has also eloigned the said Alice to the king’s prejudice, but whither the jurors know not, so that she cannot be found in the county. He has also occupied the manor and received the profits thereof ever since the death of the said John son of William, to the king’s prejudice.

A great tenement with a garden, and 16 shops annexed thereto, worth 7l. 4s. yearly when let; another tenement wherein John Kersle dwells, worth 6l. 5s. 4d. yearly when let; and another tenement wherein William Benet dwells, worth 4l. 6s. 8d. yearly when let. All are held of the king in free burgage, as is the whole city of London.

Colham. The manor (extent given), held of the castle of Wallyngford, which, with the honor thereof, is in the king’s hand, by homage and suit of court at the said castle every month. The extent includes 2 watermills on the bank of the river Colneye, rents of assise in Colham and Woxebrugge, 2 fairs at Woxebrugge every year on the feasts of St. Margaret and St. Michael, 2 markets weekly at the same place, to wit, on Monday and Thursday, and views of frankpledge at Colham and Woxebrugge.

He held the under-mentioned manors of Straungenesse and Kynton jointly as above, by gift of Roger Lestrange, his father, made with the king’s licence.
Ellesmere in the march. The manor (except 2 a. land therein whereof he was seised in demesne as of fee), with the hamlets of Culmere and Hampton, co. Salop (extents given), held of the king in chief by knight’s service. The extent of the manor includes 2 parks, a rent of a kennet (kenettus) at Michaelmas from a free tenant, 2 fairs at the feasts of St. Martin and the Nativity of the Blessed Mary, a market every Thursday, and a parcel of grazing called ‘Lyesmor.’ The extent of the hamlets includes a rent of 4d. or 2 horseshoes from a free tenant and a parcel of grazing called ‘Ernehurste’ and ‘le Vernyhalgh.’

She held the under-mentioned land for life by way of dower after the death of Robert Sussex, her husband.

She died on Thursday in the first week of Lent, 3 Richard II. Robert Sussex, son of Thomas Sussex, aged 24 years and more, is her heir.
Since her death Nicholas Bailli of Marketesoverton has occupied the premises and received the issues without title.
