Barkeworth. A messuage and 6 bovates land, were taken into the king’s hand by reason of the minority of Ralph, son and heir of Robert de Barkeworth who held of the said Joan by service of 1/8 knight’s fee; the said Ralph died at the feast of the Annunciation last, and by his death the lands, &c., are still in the king’s hand, by reason of the minority of William his brother and heir; and Joan late the wife of the said Robert de Barkeworth is dowered of a third part of all the said lands in Barkeworth, by the king’s writ.
The said Joan (Knyvet) is next heir of John de Worth, and was 17 on Saturday before Palm Sunday last, and Richard Knyvet espoused her, her marriage having been granted to him at the feast of St. Michael, 32 Edw. I. by the executors of Hawis de Grelle, in whose wardship she was by reason of the lands, &c. which her father held of the said Hawis in Hainton and Barkeworth by service of 1 knight’s fee.
