Lutone. A sixth part of the manor, viz.—the hamlet of Wodecroft (extent given) held of the king in chief by service of 1/2 knight’s fee.

Cobelintone. The manor (extent given) held jointly with Desiderata his wife, by the gift by William de Leiburne to hold to them and the heirs of their bodies, of the earl of Gloucester by service of 1/2 knight’s fee.
Folbroc. Certain tenements which are a member of the aforesaid manor of Cobelintone, viz.—a capital messuage &c., 72a. arable, 4a. meadow, 1a. several pasture, 3 free tenants, 1/2 virgate of land in villenage, and a cottage, held by service of 1/4 knight’s fee.

Wyginton. The manor (extent given with names of tenants) held, by the gift &c. of William de Leybourne, of Lady Margaret queen of England, of the honour of Berkehamstede by the king’s assignment to her, by service of 1/2 knight’s fee of the little fee of Mortain, doing suit at the court of Berkehamstede every three weeks.

Little Gatesden. A moiety of the manor (extent given with names of tenants) held of the rector of Assherugge and his successors, by the assignment made by Edmund sometime called earl of Cornwall confirmed by the king’s charter, doing all the services he and his ancestors used to do to the earl of Cornwall &c., by the gift of William de Leybourne, by service of 1/2 knight’s fee of the little fee of Mortain, and finding the rector &c. yearly seven men to reap his corn for one day in autumn, with a man going before them, at the rector’s food once in the day, and he shall come to the rector’s view of frank pledge in Little Gatesdene with all his tenants and men once a year, and render yearly for divers tenements 4s. 10d. and a capon.

Brunesthorp. A third part of a capital messuage, 44a. arable, a marsh with fishery, meadow and rushbed (rosco), 6s. 7d. rent of free tenants, 18s. 5 3/4d. rent of 12 customers, capons, fowls, eggs, works, and pleas &c. of court, held of the king, as of the honour of Albemarle now in the king’s hand, by service of 1/2 knight’s fee; a messuage and 6a. arable held jointly with Alice his wife, by the enfeoffment of William de Pynkeni his father, to hold to them and the heirs of the said Hamund, by the service abovesaid, and they peacefully continued their seisin until the said Hamund’s death.
Tatersete. A moiety of a capital messuage, 64a. arable, 1a. meadow, a rushbed (roscum), a water-mill, 12s. 3 1/2d. rents of free tenants, customers, fowls, eggs, bread, ale &c., and pleas &c. of court, held of Roger de Aylesham and Joan his wife by service of a knight’s fee; two parts of a mill-pond held of Robert Burgeliun by service of two parts of 14s. yearly, and all the lands &c. which the said Hamund held in Tatersete are bound for the said Robert’s destraints for the said rent; and 1a. 1r. land held of Richard atte Howe by service of 2d. yearly.

Petition to the king and council by Master Roger de Aylesham and Joan his wife, complaining that a tenement in Tateressete which Hamund de Pynkeny held of them by a knight’s fee has been taken into the king’s hand by reason that he held half a knight’s fee of more recent acquirement of the honour of Albemarle, which is in the king’s hand by the nonage of the heir of the countess of Albemarle, stating that they were seised of the wardship of William, father of the said Hamund, and praying to have the wardship of their fee and the marriage of the said Hamund’s heir, as their ancestors have always had. Writ of certiorari to the escheator commanding him to enquire whether the aforesaid Hamund held anything of the king in chief as of the crown or otherwise, or not, 4 April, 33 Edw. I.

The said Hamund held nothing of the king in chief as of the crown in the bailiwick; but held certain lands in Brunesthorp of the king by reason of the honour of Albemarle, now in the king’s hand, and Isabel sometimes countess of Albemarle, when living, held the said lands &c. of Roger le Bygod, earl of Norfolk and Marshal of England, by service of 1/2 knight’s fee.

Cnolton. The manor with a hundred there (full extent given), including a capital messuage, 311 1/2a. arable and a several pasture at ‘la Wodelonde,’ and a wood called Baggeham, held of the earl of Gloucester by service of a knight’s fee.

The manor (extent given with names of tenants) held for life, by the courtesy of England, of the inheritance of Beatrice daughter and heir of John de Sancta Elena, sometime his wife, of the king in chief of the honour of Christchurch Twynham, now in the king’s hand by the gift of Isabel de Fortibus, sometime countess of Albemarle, by service of 1/2 knight’s fee, rendering 20s. 10d. yearly to the king at his exchequer by the hand of the steward of the honour of Walingford, because the said manor is within the Chiltern (Cyltr’) 4 1/2 hundreds and taxable there (in geldabili dictorum hundredorum).

Thedmers. The manor (full extent given with names of tenants), including a messuage &c. called Wynhird whereof the ladies there when widowed used to be dowered, a common pasture called Heghmore, and a grove called Brayle, held of the king in chief as of the honour of Wallingford by service of a knight, staying when war shall happen to guard the castle of Walingford for forty days at his own charges, and doing suit at the court of Walingford every four weeks, and scutage when it shall happen; and a water-mill held of the abbot of Radyng rendering him 20s. yearly; and 6a. arable which the said John and Sarra his wife acquired jointly to them and the heirs of the said John, by the gift of Thomas de Thedmers.
Uffeton. 6a. meadow which John de Thedmers demised to Master William de Bermingham and Maud his wife and William their son for their lives.

Sithingg. A capital messuage, 25a. arable, 5a. wood, 30s. rent, fowls, and works, held of the gift &c. of Roger le Bygod, earl of Norfolk and Marshal of England, by service of 1/20 knight’s fee, and by service of 2d. ‘waitefe’; which earl held of the king in chief by the said service, and enfeoffed the same John in 28 Edw. I. to hold of the chief lords by the services accustomed.
Letice late the wife of Robert de Loudne holds in dower certain tenements in Sithing, and Isabel late the wife of John Burnel holds in dower certain tenements in Wotton, whereof the said earl enfeoffed the said John in form aforesaid, the reversion whereof pertains to the heirs of the said John.
Stokton. The soke (extent given), including a park, held of the king in chief by homage and 1/20 knight’s fee, by reason of the gift &c. which Roger le Bygod, earl of Norfolk and Marshal of England, made to the king when he granted to him all his castles and tenements in England, Wales and Ireland, which (the king) afterwards granted to the said earl, to hold to him and the heirs of his body.

Seteryngton. The manor (extent given with names of tenants), including Bucketon which is a member of Seterryngton, and 10s. yearly from the township of Schakelthorp for the mill of Holebek, held of the king in chief, by the gift of Roger le Bygod, earl of Norfolk and Marshal of England, to the said John and Isabel his wife, by homage and knight’s service, doing suit at the county (court) of York, the trithing of Craykehowe, and the wapentake of Buck(rose) once a year, and rendering 16s. yearly to the king for wapentake fines.
Heir unknown, because his sons and daughters were born in Norfolk.
Writ of certiorari to the escheator to enquire whether Letice late the wife of Robert de Lodne and Isabel late the wife of Philip Burnel are dowered of lands &c. in Sything and Wotton as abovesaid, or not, because Isabel late the wife of John le Bygod asserts that they are not so held and seeks her dower thereof, 28 April, 33 Edw. I.
NORFOLK. Inq. made at Norwich, 17 May, 33 Edw. I.
The said Letice holds nothing in dower in Sithingg, nor the said Isabel anything in Wotton; but John le Bygod of Stokton died seised of the said tenements, by the gift of Roger le Bygod, as abovesaid, together with the reversion of certain tenements in Sithing which John de Dunheved and Isabel de Haggele held for the life of the abovesaid Letice, and of the lands &c. which Isabel late the wife of Philip Burnel held in dower in Wotton. And the said John and Isabel granted to John le Bygod all the said tenements in Sithingg for the said Letice’s life for 7l. 18d. yearly rent. All the said tenements in Sithing are held of the king in chief by service of 1/20 knight’s fee, and 2d. of ‘wayte’ yearly. And Isabel late the wife of Philip Burnel similarly granted to John le Bygod all the said tenements in Wotton for 4l. 6s. 8d. yearly rent for her life.
Sithingg. There are a capital messuage, 125a. arable, 5a. wood, a windmill, 48s. 11d. rent of freemen, 6 capons, 12 geese, 21 hens, works and pleas &c. of court; from whence the said John and Isabel receive their rent, and the manors of Stokton and Theberton are liable to distraint if it shall be in arrear.
Wotton. There are a capital messuage, 84a. arable, 12d. rent, and works; the whole worth 4l. 6s. 8d., all which Isabel late the wife of Philip Burnel receives yearly for life.

SALOP. Inq. Saturday the feast of St. Cuthbert (Cuberti), 33 Edw. I (defaced).
Fittes. The town with the adjacent hamlets of Mutton and Grafton (extents given), including a weir, held of the heir [of Richard son of Alan], sometime earl of Arundel, a minor and in the king’s wardship, of the barony of Cloune in chief by service of 1/6 knight’s fee.
Sanford. Half a virgate of land containing 30a., a water-mill, and 41s. 6d. rent from free tenants, held of the same heir by service of 1/7 knight’s fee.
Borwarton. A messuage, a carucate of land containing 60a. arable, 1a. meadow, 8 free tenants rendering 22s. 2d. yearly, and 5 customers rendering 50s. yearly, held of the heir of Edmund de Mortuo Mari, a minor and in the king’s wardship, by service of 1/3 knight’s fee.
Hopton. The manor with the adjacent hamlets of Cheldryncton and Bradeford (extents given) held of the aforesaid heir of the earl of Arundel in chief by knight’s service, and doing suit at the earl’s court of Cloune every three weeks.
SALOP [now HEREFORD]. Inq. Sunday after St. Cuthbert, 33 Edw. I.
Stanton by Penebrigg. The town (extent given) held of the said heir of Edmund de Mortuo Mari in chief by knight’s service, finding a horseman at the castle of Wygemore in time of war between the Welsh and English for forty days at his own charges, and doing suit at the court of Wygemore every three weeks.
Mallelegh and Overstanton. Certain tenements (unspecified) held of the heirs of Hugh de Mortuo Mari, minors and in the king’s wardship, by knight’s service and doing suit at the court of Stipelton every three weeks.
Wappelith. Certain tenements, 20a. arable, 4a. meadow, and pleas &c. of court, held of …… de Mortuo Mari by service of a pair of gilt spurs; and there are there 15 free tenants, rendering 34s. 4d., and 11 customers rendering 20s. 8d. yearly.
Overstanton. Five free tenants rendering 20s. 1d. yearly.
Wappelyth. Four free tenants rendering 3s. 11 1/2d. yearly.
