'He cannot directly speake Latine: he is a chirurgian: he hath bene in Englande and practiseth yis eleven yeares: in London (of late) these thre monethes. By Dr Winston questioned he hath so longe dealt in calco., epileps. alb. ictera. and gonorrhea by inwarde medicines ... and his antidote by bill is inwarde.'

Entry	Mrs. Elizabeth Fitton of the Golden Anchor in Walbrook (kept by Mr Tod, a farrier) complained that 'for a small payne and rednes in her leg and arme' V 'had given her a powder in white wine which purged her ... vpward and downeward aboue 25 tymes and 22 tymes the next day.' Then he gave her fluxing pills. She took only two, but salivated for 'aboue 20 dayes', and went to Dr Argent for it. V charged 2s.

He denyed not the fact, butt auoutched that he gave her the Physique by directions from Dr. Read. butt bycause he confessed he had no bill for it from the said Dr. we took it for his owne practise, which was censured to be very bad. the Censors sent him to Newgate and fined him xx li.'

Entry	Dr Vanderlashe asked that he might be allowed to practise medicine among sick people suffering with ulcers of long standing or fistula. The President replied that only that permissible by law might be granted and for that reason he could by no means practise here: what would he offer to settle the dispute? Coll. asked for £60; he offered £4; they refused; he offered £5, which they took as a fine.
