SAINTBURY
(24 miles N.N.E. of Cirencester)
The earthworks known as Saintbury Camp or Castle Bank (fn. 1) on the hill S. of the village (SP 117393) appear to represent an extension of the system of mediaeval or later boundaries and settlement remains on lower ground W. of St. Nicholas's Church.
(1) Probable Settlement (SP 11284169), Romano-British, with Roman coins and pottery, has been noted at Saintbury Grounds, ½ mile W. of Ryknild Street. The site is in a flat arable field in the valley, about 200 ft. above O.D.
