Dorchester, Tombstone of Carinus, in Fordington Church

Dorchester. (216d) Tombstone of Carinus, in Fordington church. One quarter full size. Note: The surface of the stone is such that neither rubbing nor photograph would show the inscription satisfactorily, but both have been used in preparing the drawing here reproduced. Surviving incisions, however slight, are shown naturalistically as V-cuts; the convention of plain white is used for incisions eroded or lost. An alternative reading CIVI . DOM has been proposed for the second line.
