This Day Bertram Earl of Ashburnham sat first in Parliament after the Death of his Father George Earl of Ashburnham; his Lordship having first, at the Table, taken the Oaths, and also taken and subscribed the Oath of Abjuration, pursuant to the Statutes.

Isherwood's Estate Bill, E. Rawlinson to attend to be sworn to give Evidence before the Judges.

Ordered, That Elizabeth Rawlinson do attend this House on Wednesday the 13th of April next to be sworn, in order to her being examined as a Witness before the Judges to whom the Petition of John Isherwood Esquire, and others, praying Leave to bring in a Private Bill for the Purposes therein mentioned, stands referred.

Then The Lord Chancellor said,

Then the Clerk Assistant, having received the Money Bill from the Hands of the Speaker, brought it to the Table, where the Deputy Clerk of the Crown read the Title of that and the other Bills to be passed, severally, as follow; (viz ^t.)

Upon reading the Petition of the Inhabitants of the Parish of Navan, in the County of Meath, whose Names are thereunto subscribed; praying their Lordships "to withhold the Annual Grant from the Kildare Place Society, and to direct the Allocation of such Funds as will effect the benevolent Purpose of educating the Poor of Ireland, without any Violation of their conscientious Opinions:"

Upon reading the Petition of the Ministers and Elders of the Synod of Glasgow and Ayr, met in Synod; praying their Lordships "to take into their most serious Consideration, without Delay, the State of the Slaves in the West Indies, and to adopt such Measures as may tend to promote their best Interests, and, at an early Period, to secure their complete Emancipation; and that greater Facilities may be afforded them for Religious Instruction:"
