Clerk of the Journals 1738-41
This office was created in 1738, the duties of its holder being to inspect and make abstracts from captains' journals. The salary was £200. (fn. 1) It was discontinued as a distinct appointment in 1741 when provision was made for the duties to be carried out by one of the Extra Clerks in the office. (fn. 2)
