April 1. Friday, Donald came past 12 to trimme me; dined, went about 3; Widdens came past 4 to bargaine with me for sheep, went past 5.
2.Satorday, Mainwaring & Roger retorned at night from Peover.
3.Sonday, was not at church, Mainwaring & Roger went in the afternoone; past 4 came the Sheriffe, Bradshaw, Trumpeter, &c. stayd all night.
4.Monday, came Joseph Harison about 10; went immediately with the Sheriffe, Bradshaw, Mainwaring, Roger, &c. to Chester; my 2 grandsons came from Peover.
5.Tuesday, Joseph the cook's cosen came to serve me this day as postillion.
6.Wednesday, Mr Chetwyn sent his servant with a certificate in his father's behalfe, which I signed; my 2 grandsons went to Chester & Houweman after them past 10; about 6 came Lambe of Lichfeild, stayd all night.
7.Thursday, about 8 came Huson, went to Shotwick about 10 (soe did Roger interl.) Lambe went about 11; Walforne went to Chester, retorned about 9 with Houseman.
8.Friday, John the husbandman went away; Bidolph & I went to Chester, lighted at Angell's, dined there; Crew, Mainwaring, G.Mainwaring, Streete, came thither to us; Donald trimmed me; I went past 3 (with Streete) to the Bishop, met him in the church (with the Prebends) going to prayes; went thence to waite on the Judge on the Bench; then to his lodgings (with Bellot & Mainwaring) thence with them to the Sheriffe, who was going to supper with much company; thence went to Jackson's where was Bidolph & Browne; then came Angell, Farington, Morgan, Huson, &c. Bidolph & I left them, went before 7 homewards.

9.Satorday, about 7 the carts went to Chester for coales & Hixon went for meale about 11; Walforne went thither after dinner; Roger & they retorned at night; also Mainwaring.
10.Sonday, I was not at church; many of the rest went, Walforne preached twice; Lord Warington came past 7; then Morgan; they stayd all night.
11.Monday, Lord Warington, Mainwaring & Roger went to Chester about 9; Cooper came to treate about wood; Robinson,about Mrs Robinson's bill & my answer; he dined with us, went about 3; Huson came past 10, went with Houseman to Colebrooke; Alderman Wilson's sonne & a bookseller came past 2; went at 4 with Morgan to Chester; (one Cokaine & Crosse of Lichfeild came to see Bidolph, stayd not interl.) Roger came back with Walforne about 7.
12.Tuesday, Robinson & Waring came to take my answer to Mrs Robinson's bill, went past 11; Angell, Attorney Minshall dined with us, went about 5; Bolton dined with us, Fletcher with the servants; we discoursed Tatenhall & about the mill, &c. Mainwaring retorned from Chester about 2; Hussey came in the evening from Peover.
13.Wednesday, Mainwaring & Roger went about 9 to Chester; Houseman about 12; Huson came about 4; also Bingley about his accounts & Robinson about 12s he pretended to be due to him & was payd it, went presently, Bingley not till 8; Wheateare came to see Walforne about 3; went past 5; Houseman came back at 9.
14.Thursday, Houseman went to Chester past 6; Joseph & Anne Price after him; about 11 came yong Cookson to settle accounts & pay some money, dined in the buttry, went about 2; Minshalls cald & went past 4; Mainwaring, Roger & Houseman came from Chester about 9.
15.Friday, Nixon went early to fetch a dayrymayde; Taylor, Cratchley & Lloyd came at 12, dined with us; Glasiour came past 2; they stayd till past 5 about Glasiour's businesse; Donald dined in the buttry, went about 4; Mainwaring & Roger went out past 2; Roger to Bromley's; Mainwaring to Utkinton, came back at 11.
16.Satorday, Huson went past 7 to Chester; Cartwright to Namptwich; Mainwaring, my daughter, Bidolph & I went to Chester; dined at Angell's; visited cosen Ravenscroft & Mrs Mainwaring; I went about 5 to Jackson's; saw Danot, who paid some money, also Selsby to whom I gave 2s 6d for hurting a sheep with my coach; there was G.Mainwaring, Streete, Bellot, Parry, Kinaston, Mainwaring, Bidolph,&c. we went thence to widdow Bennet's, Hardwar came to us; then called at the Bars; Mainwaring daughter came there into the coach; soe home past 9.
17.Sonday, I was not at church; Mainwaring, his wife, Charlotte, Bidolph, &c. went to church & some of them (with Roger) in the afternoone; Jackson came home with them, stayd all night.
18.Monday, Mainwaring & Jackson went towards Peover about 8; my 2 grandsons went after them at 12; Hughes & Holland came from Chester about slating & pointing, &c. Roger went about after dinner, retorned past 8.
19.Tuesday, Angell dined with us; also Savage, he went about 3, Angell about 6; Houseman to Lach about 12; came back past 9; also Huson came then; (Bidolph's coachman brought his horses interl.) 20.Wednesday, after dinner Bidolph, Roger & Walforne went to Utkinton; Nixon went to Chester past 10; they retorned in the evening; also Mainwaring & Jackson from Peover; Jackson went to Chester past 7; about 4 a man came to discourse about getting of coale, went againe about 6.
21.Thursday, Griffith went a cart to Shotwick & Dutton for coales to Chester; a man came to catch rats; dined in the buttry, took a pipe in the Compasse, went past 2; Houseman went to Chester & Lach about 1, retorned about 7; Mainwaring went about 10 to Darnehall; retorned past 11; Angell came at 7, stayd all night; Roger went out after dinner, came back at 11.

22.Friday, Sir John Crew, his lady, Mrs Offley, her 2 sons, sister, chaplaine, Wheateare, Littleton, Lady Bellot, 3 daughters, G.Mainwaring, Angell, dined with us; went back in the evening.
23.Satorday, Mainwaring, Roger & I went to Chester, dined at Jackson's with Warburton, Mackworth, another man, Streete, G.Mainwaring, his wife, &c. Nathaniel Booth came at dinner; also Huson, some Hanbridge tenants, Norbery, Stringer, &c. past 5 I went to the Deane; came back to Jackson's at 6; took coach about 7, went home.
24.Sonday, I was not at church, daughters & sisters went; Huson came to me before 3; went back about 5.
25.Monday, Cartwright went early to Brombrow, & Dutton to Dissart, (Bolton came to me about sheepe interl.) Mainwaring, Roger & Walforne went to Chester past 9; the children & theire maide in 2 coaches before 10; Bidolph & I went soone after them (& Mrs Minshall) dined at G.Mainwaring's with Lord Warington, Crew, Mainwaring, Streete, Booth, Warburton, Mackworth, Johnson, Roger&c ; (the 3 chaplaines, some women in the next roome; interl.) after dinner came Egerton to speake with Warington, Crew, Mainwaring, &c. about his tax; then Warington went to the Penthouse & to the Race; G.Mainwaring, Bradshaw & I stayd a while after them; then I went to the Bishop, the Deane was also there; I discoursed them about the difference with sister Whitley; then I went to the Race; there was Lord Warington, severall Aldermen, Ladyes, &c. I walked awhile below with Murray, Pemberton, &c. after the Race I went to Jackson's; there was Bidolph, Walforne, Wheatyeare, &c. Bidolph & I called at Lady Bellot's; there was Mrs Warburton, Booth, Ravenscroft,&c. we went about 8, came home; before 10 in the morning Bidolph & I called at Angell's; the children dined with him; also the parson of Hawerden; he spoke to me about cosen Whitley & the poore's money; I told him, I was concerned to see my unkle's Charity secured & left him & the parish to act as they pleased.
26.Tuesday, Pratchet came from Dodington to see us; Roger came from Chester; dined at Bromley's, came home past 10. Mainwaring came home about 7; Mrs Tucker went away this afternoone.
27.Wednesday, Mainwaring went to Knotsford past 7; Danold dined with us; went with Roger, Walforne & Bidolph to Bromleys; at 6 my daughters, sisters & I went after them; stayd till past 7; at our coming away came Bolland & Bruen, I dranck to them & went home; Bidolph & Roger came not till past 9; Cartwright retorned past 8.
28.Thursday, Denson & Jannyon came about 11 with theire leases & to pay theire rent for theire tenements in Whitby, they dined, went after dinner; Minshall came at the end of dinner; he, Bidolph, Roger & Walforne went to Huson's; retorned at 9.
29.Friday, Minshall & Roger went past 7 to Peover; Huson came about 10; Mr Parry about 11, dined with us; also Bolton & Kemp; Meadows & another Tatenhall man dined below with Huson; Catterell came past 3; then Parry went away; the rest soone after; Mainwaring & Roger retorned about 9.
30.Satorday, Huson went past 7 to Chester; Mainwaring, Bidolph & Roger about 10; Houseman about 11; they retorned past 9.
