Roll of the Bishop of Glasgow:—
Whereas the church of Glasgow lacks cantors, and there is in the diocese the poor house of Poknade, in which for a long time little or nothing has been done for the poor, and the right of presentation to the said hospice is disputed by Matthew, bishop of Glasgow, and Master Walter de Danielston, who says that the right belongs to the earl of Lennox, by whom Walter has been presented to the same; the pope is prayed to appropriate it to the choir of the church of Glasgow for the maintenance of a master skilled in the art [of music], and of as many boys as can be supported by the rents of the said hospice. The said master and boys to be appointed by the bishop and chapter, and bound to be present at the canonical hours to chant and say office in the said church.
