The king. Signification that on a former petition of his being presented, asking the pope to provide Gerald de Podio, licentiate in laws, with the office of sacristan, and a canonry and prebend of Bordeaux, void by the resignations of Bernard de Fargis and Peter Geraldi, the pope granted Bernard's office of sacristan; but this had no effect, as the office can be given only to a canon of the church, and Gerald has a canonry and provostship with expectation of a prebend in the church of St. Severin, Bordeaux, of which no mention was made in the petition; the king therefore prays that, as Gerald is ready to resign the canonry, provostship, and expectation of a prebend in St. Severin when he gets the office of sacristan and the prebend of Bordeaux, the pope will make provision to him of the canonry, prebend, and office of sacristan of Bordeaux.

John de Grandissono, bishop of Exeter. Signification tha the formerly bought, with his own money, the manor of Ottery St. Mary, with the advowson of the church, which he erected into a collegiate church and endowed, putting there, as diocesan, a certain number of canons and ministers, with the written consent of his chapter; he therefore prays the pope to confirm the said purchase, erection, and appointment, supplying any defect there may be therein.

Also that William de Donne, his clerk and notary, having been dispensed by the pope on account of illegitimacy so as to be ordained, and hold a benefice with cure of souls, afterwards obtained a prebend or perpetual portion in the church of St. Endellion, in his diocese, value not exceeding 4l. 2s.; the bishop therefore prays the pope to further dispense the said William, so that he may hold the benefices he has, resign them, and receive others.

Hugh Pelegrini, of the diocese of Cahors, B.A. scholar in civil law for four years at Oxford, and rector of Boxwelle, in the diocese of Canterbury. Although he was dispensed by the ordinary while in the schools, and, if ordained sub-deacon within a year, from being obliged to take higher orders for seven years, he was not ordained sub-deacon, and continues to hold the said church. He now prays that he may be allowed to hold it, and to retain fruits received, notwithstanding that he holds a prebendal portion in the collegiate church of Lanchester, in the diocese of Durham, and a canonry with expectation of a prebend in the collegiate church of Vican,'in the diocese of Cahors, by authority of Benedict XII.
