A List of the Court of LORD-MAYOR and ALDERMEN, at the Revolution in 1689, with the regular Succession of ALDERMEN in every Ward down to the present Time.

ALDERSGATE.—SIR Peter Rich, elected in 1683, served the office of sheriff the same year.
Sir James Houblon, elected in 1692.
Sir Peter Floyer, elected in 1700; in the year 1701 he was chosen sheriff; but died in the office.
Sir Samuel Garrard, elected in 1702; served the office of sheriff in 1703, that of lord-mayor in 1710; and was removed to the ward of Bridge-without.
Richard Levett, Esq; elected in 1721; served the office of sheriff in 1729.
William Benn, Esq; elected in 1740; served the office of sheriff in 1743, and that of lord-mayor in 1747.
George Nelson, Esq; elected in 1755; served the office of sheriff in 1758, and that of lord-mayor in 1766.

Sir Edward Bellamy. elected in 1722; served the office of she riff in 1724, that of lord mayor in 1735; and was removed to the ward of Bridge-without.
Thomas Winterbottom, Esq; elected in 1745; served the office of sheriff in 1747, and that of lord-mayor in 1752; but died in the office.

BISHOPSGATE.—Sir Jonathan Raymond, elected in 1681; served the office of sheriff in 1680; but not being elected lordmayor, resigned his place.
Sir Owen Buckingham, elected in 1696; served the office of sheriff the same year, and that of lord-mayor in 1705.
Sir Joseph Lawrence elected in 1713.
Sir Edward Beecher, elected in 1718; served the office of sheriff in 1722, and that of lord-mayor in 1728.
Sir Robert Godschall, elected in 1732; served the office of sheriff in 1736, was chosen lord-mayor for 1742; but died in the office.

CASTLE BAYNARD.—Sir William Turner, removed from Candlewick to this ward, in 1668; served the office of sheriff in 1663, that of lord mayor in 1669, and resigned his gown.
Sir William Gostlyn, elected in 1688; but his election; was made void in 1690 by the act for reversing the judgment on the Quo warranto.
Sir William Turner thereby became again alderman of this ward, as having been so at the time when the judgment was obtained.

VINTRY.—Sir Thomas Pilkington, first elected for Farringdon without, in 1680; in 1682 the duke of York obtained a verdict against him, and 100,000l. damages, on the statute De Scandalis Magnatum, which occasioned his becoming a prisoner in the King's Bench. At his own request therefore the court of aldermen discharged him, and Sir Dudley North was chosen in his room (fn. 1).
But in 1688, he was elected alderman of this ward, and took his place in the court of aldermen according to his first election; he served the office of sheriff in 1682, and that of lord mayor in 1689, 1690, 1691.
Sir Thomas Fowles, elected in 1691; served the office of sheriff in 1687.
Sir Thomas Abney, elected in 1692; served the office of sheriff in 1694, that of lord-mayor in 1701; and was removed to the ward of Bridge-without.
Sir John Eyles, elected in 1716; served the office of sheriff in 1720, that of lord-mayor in 1727; and was removed to the ward of Bridge-without.
Sir William Rous, elected in 1737; served the office of sheriff the same year.
Edward Gibbon, Esq; elected in 1743; resigned in 1745.
Sir Crisp Gascoyne, elected in 1745; served the office of sheriff in 1748, and that of lord-mayor in 1753.
Richard Blunt, Esq; elected in 1761; was chosen sheriff in 1763, but died in December the same year.

Sir Francis Eyles, was elected in 1710, by the court of aldermen and served the office of sheriff in 1711.
