Entry T appeared and showed letters patent sealed with the seal of the Archbishop of Canterbury, which he claimed gave him the authority to practise. The letters had been obtained from Lord Hartwell. T had been examined by Dr Aubrey. 'The man was completely illiterate and as distinguished for ignorance as for arrogance.'
