Entry There was some doubt whether [the mithridate] was Sadler's composition, since in the previous August Sadler offered a certain Mr. Robinson 40s. for making this mithridate: and Mr. Stone who was a servant to Mr. Brookes confessed a month before in the presence of Mr. Shambrooke that this composition in truth related to Mr. Sadler and not however to Mr. Brookes.

Entry BROOKES, apothecary (120, qv), had been in trouble about some bad mithridate powder which had killed Mr Baynes. The Wardens of the SA had investigated and had discovered that the powder had been made up by S and not by B. S had received £15 for the powder.
