A sheriff 1319-20, alderman of Dowg 1321-39, Mayor 1332-3. John de Preston, Gerdelere (1332 S, Dowg] was a different person; his parents were Robert and Mariota (HMC 9th Rep 2 a, 23 b). The statement in LBF 284 that John de Preston Mayor was a girdler is erroneous. - Preston Bk, K, etc.

  • 8. John Vyveyn 1307 LBC 205 (witness Dowg), J. Vyvyen, corder 1311 LBD 147, J. Vivian 1321 Will (of All Hallows, Dowg). Margaret, his widow (1348-9 Will), was of All Hallows the Great. As seen from his will, he was specially connected with William son of Vivian de Rokesle [cf. 1292 S, Dowg 20], and he will have derived his surname ultimately from this Vivian. See Var 46. He was elected alderman of Dowg in 1320-1.
  • 9. Henry Darcy de Totehelle, draper, appr. of John Mire, adm. Dowg 1310 LBD 119, H. Darcy 1317-18 Cl (draper), 1332 S [BroadSt, 8 m.], 1344-5 Pat. A sheriff 1327-8, alderman of Walbr 1330-49, Mayor 1337-9. H. Darcy, citizen of London, and Hugh de Totehull his brother had land in the West Riding in 1329 (Cl). This indicates that Henry came from Yorkshire, and the Henry Darcy and Hugh de Tothill who witnessed a grant in Fixby (YW) to Thomas de Tothill in 1324 (YD IV, 54 f.) must be Henry the draper and his brother. Hugh de Tothill was a tenant in Fixby, Rastrick, etc. (YW) in 1343 (YD III, 33). See on him also Book of Seals 98, 170. - Darcy, really de Arcy, from Arcy in Normandy. Totehelle is Toothill in Rastrick.

Margaret Skof was a foreign lodging-house keeper in 1298 (Mayors 7). Henry was of Malines (Brabant). Scof is no doubt a Flemish surname, but of obscure origin.

A son of Adam le Blound de Fuleham, who mentions Gregory in his will of 1308. Adam was alderman of Bridge 1291-1307 and a fishmonger.
