Alderman: Thomas de Stanes, merchant (1291-3). Will enrolled 1293-4. He was a tenant in Staining Lane (Aldersg and CripI), a representative of Crip in 1285-6 (LBA 210) and thus evidently resident in Cripplegate ward. - Staines Mx.

In Ant Leg 250 Nicole Hauteyn, mercer, is stated to have been a sheriff in 1307-8. This is a mistake for Nicholas Pycot, mercer, but Nicholas Hauteyn was probably a mercer too; cf. no. 6.

John le Botoner junior, his son, is described as a mercer (LBC 169), and John senior was clearly a mercer also. - OF botonier 'maker or seller of buttons'.
