477 OFFICERS OF ARMS V DOVE

Officers of Arms v Thomas Dove of Upton, co. Northampton, esq

September 1637

Abstract

This was a cause of office in which Dr Duck informed Gilbert Dethick that the heralds desired a monition against Thomas Dove. The cause and result of the case remain unknown as no other proceedings survive, but it probably concerned non-payment of the fee due to the heralds for the funeral of Sir William Dove.

Initial proceedings

3/138, Fiat

'Mr Dethick,

The Heralds desire monitions against Thomas Dove, esq., of Upton in the county of Northampton, executor to Sir William Dove, knt., deceased, and also against Robert Kirkham, heir and executor of Walter Kirkham of Finisted Abbey in co. Northampton, which I pray make for them.

29 Septemb. 1637'

Signed by Arthur Duck.

Notes

The marriages of two daughters of Sir William Dove of Upton, co. Northampton, knt, were mentioned in the Visitation of 1681. Thomas Dove, esq, was appointed a justice of the peace for the liberty of Peterborough in 1635.
