Privilege of Peers in Suits.

Ordered, The Earl of Pembrooke, Earl Nottingham, Earl of Denbigh, and the Lord Dacres, are added to the Committee for to consider of the Privilege of Peers, in the Case of Suits commenced against them.

Answer from the H. C.

Sir Edward Leech and Mr. Page return with this Answer from the House of Commons:

That they agree to the Vote for declaring the Earl of Pembrooke to be Chancellor of the University of Oxford; and to the additional Ordinance for apprehending Papists and Delinquents; and to the Order for giving Leave to the Sheriff of Suff. to come to London: (Here enter them.) To all the rest, they will send an Answer by Messengers of their own.

Letter from Col. Rainsborough.

A Letter from Colonel Raynsbrowe, was read.

The additional Ordinance for the Militia of Westm. and the Liberties thereof, was read the Second Time.

Message from the H. C. that they agree to the Order for the Committee at Derby-House;—with Orders and Ordinances;—and to remind the Lords of Pelham's and One for the Western Militia.

A Mesage was brought from the House of Commons, by Mr. Purefoy, &c. who brought up several Particulars, wherein they desire their Lordships Concurrence:

1. Whereas an Order of additional Power to the Committee at Derby House was sent down, they agree to the same with an Addition. (Here enter it.)

2. An Order concerning the raising of Fifty Thousand Pounds, for Sale of Houses in Ireland.

3. An Order for One Hundred Pounds, out of Habberdashers Hall, to Sir John Burlace the Elder.

5. An Ordinance for Mr. Mabb to have Eighty Pounds Ten Shillings per Annum.

10. To put their Lordships in Mind of Mr. Pelham's Ordinance.

11. To put their Lordships in Mind of the Ordinance concerning the Militia of Westm.

The Answer returned was:

That as to the Ordinance concerning (fn. 1) selling Worcester House to the Earl of Sarum, and the Ordinance concerning Mr. Pelham, and the Ordinance (fn. 1) for the Militia of Westm. they will send an Answer by Messengers of their own: To all the rest of the Particulars, this House agrees to them.

Message to the H. C. with the Order to sell Worcester House;— for Mytton to be Vice Adm. of N. Wales;—

A Message was sent to the House of Commons, by Dr. Bennett and Mr. Eltonheade:

1. The Order for the selling of Worcester House to the Earl of Salisbury, and desire their Concurrence in the Addition.

and with Crakenthorpe's and Hawkeridge's Petitions.

2. To recommend to them the Petition of Crakenthorpe and John Musgrave.

3. To desire their Concurrence, that Colonel Mytton may be Vice Admiral of North Wales, in the Place of Mr. Glynn, deceased.

4. To recommend to them the Petition of Captain Hawkeridge.

Additional Power to the Committee at Derby House.

"It is Ordered, by the Lords and Commons in Parliament assembled, That the Committee of Lords and Commons (Members of both Houses) sitting at Derby House have hereby Power and Authority to prevent and suppress all Insurrections and Tumults, within the Kingdom of England, Dominion of Wales, and Town of Berwick; and to that Purpose have Power to give Order and Direction to the Militias and Forces of the Kingdom, and to secure the Persons of any Offenders in Prosecution thereof."

Ordinance for raising 50,000 l. for Ireland, to be put in Execution.

"Ordered, by the Lords and Commons assembled in Parliament, That the Ordinance for raising Fifty Thousand Pounds for the Sale of Houses in Ireland be forthwith printed and published; and that it be referred to the Committee for the Affairs of Ireland at Derby House, to nominate Commissioners, and take Care for putting the said Ordinance in Execution, that Monies may be raised and brought in upon the said Ordinance."

Order for 100 l. to Sir J. Burlace, out of Haberdashers Hall.

"Ordered, by the Lords and Commons assembled in Parliament, That One Hundred Pounds be charged upon the Monies coming in at Habberdashers Hall, and paid forthwith, by Order of the Committee, unto Sir John Burlace the Elder."

Order for 100 l. to Sir A. Blundell.

"Ordered, by the Lords and Commons assembled in Parliament, That the Sum of One Hundred Pounds be paid, by the Committee of Lords and Commons for Advance of Monies at Habberdashers Hall, unto Sir Arthur Blundell, upon Accompt, for his present Subsistence."

Order for 80 l. 10 s. per Ann. to Mr. Mabb.

"Be it Ordained, and it is hereby Ordained, by the Lords and Commons in Parliament assembled, That the Yearly Sum of Eighty Pounds and Ten Shillings, formerly allowed to Mr. Edward Mabb, by the Committee of Lords and Commons for Sequestrations, and by the Committee of His Majesty's Revenue, in Satisfaction of his Patent for Life, granted by the late Archbishop of Canterbury and the Dean and Chapter of Canterbury, henceforth be allowed, and Quarterly paid by the Trustees for the Sale of Bishops Lands, out of the Profits of the Archbishopric of Canterbury, with the Arrears of One Year and a Quarter, due the 25th of December last; for which, an Acquittance under the Hand of the said Mr. Mabb shall be a sufficient Discharge to the Trustees in that Behalf."

Order for 50 l. to Capt. St. George.

"Ordered, by the Lords and Commons assembled in Parliament, That it be referred to the Committee at Habberdashers Hall, to peruse the Accompt of Captain St. George, and to pay him the Sum of Fifty Pounds upon Accompt."

Committee for Oxf. University.

"Ordered, by the Lords and Commons in Parliament assembled, That Mr. Nicholas be added to the Committee for regulating Oxon, in the Place of Sir Phillip Stapilton, deceased."

Commissioners for Assessments in Devon.

"Ordered, by the Lords and Commons assembled in Parliament, That Henry Walrond, Richard Ducke, and John Terling, Esquires, be added to the Commissioners for the County of Devon, in the Ordinance for bringing in the Assessments of Sixty Thousand Pounds per Mensem."

Order for printing Papers of the Assembly of Divines.

Ordered, That Mr. Adoniram Byfeild, One of the Scribes of the Assembly, do take special Care in the Printing of these Things following; and that no other shall presume to print the same; videlicet,

"The Reasons of the Dissenting Brethren against the Third Proposition concerning Presbyterial Government; and the Answer of the Assembly to those Reasons; as well those formerly printed for the Use of the Houses, as any other Reasons and Answers never formerly printed: As also the Papers and Answers of the Dissenting Brethren, and the Committee of the Assembly, put in to the Committee of Lords and Commons and Assembly of Divines for Accommodation; and that none shall presume to print [ (fn. 2) or re-print] any of the Particulars above recited, but such as shall be thereunto appointed by the said Adoniram Byfeild, as they will answer the contrary at their Perils."

E. of Pemb. Chancellor of Oxon.

"Resolved, by the Lords and Commons in Parliament assembled,

"That the Earl of Pembrooke is Chancellor of the University of Oxon, and is declared so to have continued, notwithstanding the pretended Election of the Marquis of Hertford."

Additional Ordinance for searching for Papists, &c.

"Be it Ordered and Ordained, by the Lords and Commons in Parliament assembled, That any Person or Persons, nominated and appointed by the Lord Mayor of the City of London, or by the Justices of Peace, or Committee of Militia in the said City, or by any Three or more of them, or by the Justices and Committees of Militia in the County of Midd. and in the City of Westm'r and Liberties thereof, and Borough of Southwarke, or by any Three or more of them respectively, are hereby authorized, within their respective Limits, to search for and apprehend all Papists and Popish Recusants, and all Officers and Soldiers whatsoever, who have borne Arms against the Parliament of England, or have adhered to the Enemy in the late War, according to an Ordinance passed in that Behalf, bearing Date the 17 of December, 1647."

Sheriff of Suff. Leave to come to London.

"Ordered, by the Lords and Commons in Parliament assembled, That Thomas Kerige Esquire, nominated and appointed by both Houses of Parliament to be Sheriff of the County of Suff. shall have Liberty to come to London, upon his present Occasions."
