Answer from the H. C.

Dr. Heath and Mr. Sadler return with this Answer from the House of Commons:

That they agree to the referring the Papers concerning the Swedish Ships to the Committee for the Admiralty, as is desired: To all the rest of the Particulars, they will send an Answer by Messengers of their own.

Precedency between the V. Chancellor of Cambridge and the Mayor.

The House took into Consideration what Judgement to give, concerning the Difference of Precedency of Place between the Vice-chancellor of the University of Cambridge, and the Mayor of Cambridge Town.

And taking into mature Deliberation and Debate the whole Evidence which was given on Wednesday last, by Counsel and Witnesses on both Sides at this Bar, this House made this Judgement as followeth:

"1. Resolved, That the Precedency of Place of Right belongeth to the Vice-chancellor of the University of Cambridge, before the Mayor of the Town of Cambridge.

"2. Resolved, That the Deed ingrossed, wherein the Mayor of the Town of Cambridge caused his Name to be written before the Vicechancellor of Cambridge, be canceled and made void, and a new Deed made, wherein the Vice-chancellor's Name be first placed, as of Right it ought."

Papists Estates in Collieries in Durham, Northumb. &c. unsequestered.

The Names of divers Papists and Delinquents, who have Collieries in the County Palatine of Durham, Northumb. and Newcastle, whose Estates as yet unsequestered, were presented to the House.

And the House Ordered, To consider further of the Business on Tuesday Morning next; and the Witnesses that can give further Information touching this Business are then to attend this House.

Sir J. Thynn's Petition.

Ordered, That Sir James Thynne's Petition shall be read and considered of on Wednesday next.

Lanthall & al. and Sir W. Russell & al.

The House reading again the Report of the Opinion of the Judges, concerning the Case referred unto them between Russell and Lenthall:

It is Ordered, That this House will hear all the Judges argue the Case openly, in this House, the 10th of June next.

Curteen and the E. I. Co.

This Day being appointed to hear the Complaint of Wm. Curteene Esquire, against the East India Company, Counsel on both Sides being at the Bar; the Petition of Mr. Curteene, and the Answer of the said East India Company, were read; and Counsel on both Sides were heard: But nothing now Resolved by this House.

Message to the H. C. with the Ordinance to restrain Committees in disposing of Places.

A Message was sent to the House of Commons, by Doctor Heath and Mr. Hakewill:

To deliver to them the Ordinance concerning Committees not to dispose of Offices of Trust to such Persons as have deserted the Parliament; and to desire their Concurrence therein.

Stapleton's Cause.

Ordered, That the Cause wherein the Court of Wards and the Lady Boynton is concerned, against Mrs. Stapilton, shall be put off from hearing until Thursday Morning.

Green to be instituted to Bootle;

Ordered, That Doctor Aylett, or his lawful Deputy, are hereby authorized and required, upon Sight of this Order, to give Institution and Induction to Wm. Greene Clerk, to the Rectory of Bootle, in the County of Cumberland, void by the Death of the late Incumbent, salvo Jure cujuscunque; the said Mr. Greene producing his Presentation thereunto under the Hand and Seal of William Pennington Esquire, the lawful Patron; and taking the National League and Covenant.

Higgenbotham to Thornton Curtis.

Ordered, That Dr. Heath, &c. are hereby authorized and required to give Institution and Induction to Tho. Heggenbotham Clerk, to the Vicarage of Thorneton Curtis, in the County of Lincolne, void by the Cession of the last Incumbent, salvo Jure cujuscunque; he taking the National League and Covenant, and producing his Presentation under the Hand and Seal of George Wynne Esquire, Patron.
