Sherrard to have Possession of St. Clement's Church at Sandwich.

Ordered, That the Churchwardens of the Parish at Sandwitch shall deliver to Mr. Hope Sherrard the Keys of the Church; in Default thereof, the Magistrates shall see the Order of this House for Institution and Induction observed, and certify to this House who are Opposers to the Obedience of the said Order.

Alford and Smith.

This Day the Counsel of Alford Defendant, in a Writ of Error against Smyth Plaintiff, appeared; and were ready to argue the Errors. But neither the Plaintiff nor his Counsel appeared, though they were served with the Order, as appeared by Affidavit at this Bar.

Upon this, the House proceeded upon the Consideration of the Errors and Pleadings.

And the Counsel for the Defendant were heard.

And the House, upon Consideration thereof, Ordered, That the Judgement given in the King's Bench, in this Cause, is hereby consirmed; and that the Record be transmitted into the King's Bench, that so Execution may be taken out: And it is further Ordered, That the said Smyth Plaintiff shall pay, to the said Alford Defendant, Five Pounds for Costs.

Upon reading the Petition of Sir Wm. Russell, &c. desiring "the Seven Hundred Fifty Pounds deposited by Order of this House in the Hands of the Clerk of the Parliaments;" and also reading the Petition of Lenthall and Marston, &c.

It is Ordered, That the Clerk of the Parliaments is hereby authorized to re-deliver the Seven Hundred Fifty Pounds in his Custody to Sir Wm. Russell, &c. they having given sufficient Security for the same, according to the Order of this House.

Grant's Ordinance to be Minister of Astley.

An Ordinance was read, for making Mr. Jonathan Grant Minister of Astley, in the County of Worcester, upon the Resignation of Mr. Wood.

It (fn. 1) is Ordered, That it pass, and sent to the House of Commons, for their Concurrence.

Ordinance to establish a Corporation to employ the Poor.

Upon reading the Petition of divers well-affected Citizens of London; desiring, "That a Corporation may be made, for settling Poor People on Work:"

It is Ordered, That the Petitioners do bring in an Ordinance to this Purpose.

Message to the H. C. to sit To-morrow P. M. to expedite the Propositions.

A Message was sent to the House of Commons, by Doctor Aylett and Mr. Sadler:

To let them know, that the Lords do intend to sit To-morrow in the Afternoon; and desire that they would sit likewise, if they think it fit, to give Expedition to the Propositions.

Articles of Exeter approved of.

"The Lords and Commons assembled in Parliament do approve of the Articles of Exeter; and order, this Approbation be published, to the End all People concerned may take Notice thereof; and that the Committees, Judges, Officers, and other Persons concerned therein, do take Notice thereof, and observe the same; any Orders or Ordinances to the contrary notwithstanding."
