Ld. Lisle's Commission.

Ordered, That the Alteration in the Lord Lisle' Commission be altered from the 1 May, to these Words (incipiend. a Dat. p'ntium).

Covenant to be tendered to Ld. Lovelace.

Ordered, That the Earl of Kent and the Lord Howard do tender the Covenant to the Lord Lovelace, who desires to take it.

E. of Northampton, a Pass, to take the Oath.

Ordered, That the Earl of North'ton shall have a Pass, to go in and out at the Court of Guards, to come from Knights-bridge to London, and back again, to take the Negative Oath.

Conyers, a Pass.

Ordered, That Christopher Conyers shall have a Pass, to go to Chester.

Packer authorized to search for Materials taken from Donington Castle.

Ordered, That Mr. John Packer hath hereby Power to search, in Newbury or any other Place, where he shall be informed where any of the Lead, Timber, Goods, or other Materials, of his Castle of Donnington are, they being taken away unjustly by the Forces of the Parliament after it was surrendered to them by the Enemy; and that if he find any, that he shall have Power to seize them, and take them into his Custody, and dispose of them how he pleases; and that all Commanders, Officers, and Soldiers, are to be assisting to him herein.

Dutchess of Richmond desires a Pass, to come to London.

A Letter to the Lord Grey of Warke, from the Dutchess of Richmond, was read; desiring "a Pass to come to London from Oxford, or to Chelsey, or thereabout, that so she may have the Conveniency to put (fn. 1) herself into Sir Theo. Mayerne's Hands, for his Assistance, for the Recovery of her Health."

Ordered, That this Letter be communicated to the House [ (fn. 3) of Commons], and their Concurrence herein † desired.

Guernsey to be secured.

A Letter was read, (fn. 2) from divers of the Inhabitants of the Isle of Guernsey; informing, "That there are some Ships riding near that Island, which are designed for the Taking of that Island."

It is Ordered, That this Letter and the Information be communicated to the House of Commons, and desire that Course may be taken for the Security of that Isle.

Tench to be attached, for selling counterfeit Protections, &c.

Upon Affidavit of Anne Kinge and John Skelton, "That Christopher Tence did sell to Humphrey Creswell a counterfeit Protection under the Hand and Seal of Jh. Piercie, and a counterfeit Commission under the Hand and Seal of Ch. Howard, to be Provost Marshal of his Regiment, for which he had Eight Pounds."

It is Ordered, That the Gentleman Usher, or his Deputy, shall attach the said Christopher Tench, and bring him before this House, to answer the said Offence.

Eastham Poor.

Ordered, That the Cause of the Almsmen of Eastham, in the County of Essex, shall be heard, at this Bar, by Counsel on both Sides, this Day Month. All Parties concerned are to have Notice hereof.

Nevill's Timber not to be cut down by the Governor of Reading.

Upon Complaint made to this House, "That the Governor of Reading hath cut down much Timbertrees belonging to Mr. Rich. Nevill, being now under Sequestration; and the said Governor intends to proceed to cut down more."

It is Ordered, To be referred to the Committee of Lords and Commons for Sequestration, to give Order that no more Destruction by cutting down of Timber shall be made therein.

Torksey's Ordinance, to be Rector of Scotter;

Upon reading the Ordinance for presenting Sam. Torksey to the Church and Rectory of Scotter, in the County of Lyncolne, being in the Gift of the Bishop of Peterborough: It was Agreed to; and Ordered, To be sent to the House of Commons, for their Concurrence therein.

and Diggle's, for Chidingford.

The Ordinance for presenting John Diggle to the Rectory of Chidingford, in the County of Surrey, was read, and Agreed to, with a Proviso.

Mons. Sabran, a Pass, to go without the Lines.

Ordered, That Monsieur Sabran, the French Agent, shall (fn. 4) have Liberty to go without the Lines of Communication, about his Occasions, and to return again.

Message to the H. C. with Ld. Lisle's Commission;

A Message was sent to the House of Commons, by Sir Edw. Leech and Mr. Page:

1. To deliver the Commission to the Lord Lisle to them, with the adding of the Date.

with an Ordinance;

2. To desire Concurrence in the Ordinance for Mr. Sam. Torksey.

for the Dss. of Richmond's Pass;

3. To deliver to them the Letter of the Dutchess of Richmond; and to let them know, this House agrees to her Desire for a Pass, and desire their Concurrence therein.

the Letter from Guernsey;

4. To deliver the Letter from the Inhabitants of the Isle of Guernsey, and desire some Course may be taken for the Preservation of that Isle.

Diggle's Ordinance.

5. To desire their Concurrence in the Ordinance for presenting Mr. Diggle to the Rectory of Chudingford, in the County of Surry.

Upon reading the Petition of Wm. Le Cœur, Merchant Stranger: It is Ordered, That the Committee formerly appointed for this Business shall meet To-morrow in the Afternoon, and take the same into Consideration; at which Time Legay and Fairfax, the adverse Party, shall have Notice thereof, and attend; and Mr. Baron Atkins is appointed to attend the said Committee at the Time aforesaid.

Harford and Haswell, concerning the Rectory of Cherlton.

[* Upon reading] the Answer of Hugh Hasewell to the Ordinance for presenting Hermitage Harford Clerk, to the Rectory of Cheriton: It is Ordered, That Harford shall have a Copy of this Answer; and the Cause between them shall be heard this Day Month, at this Bar, by Counsel on both Sides; and that Mr. Haswell, who is in Possession, shall be careful to see that the Cure be well served in the mean Time.

E. Rivers and Mr. Green.

Upon reading the Answer of the Earl Rivers to Mr. Greene's Petition: It is Ordered, That this House will hear the Business, by Counsel on both Sides, at this Bar, To-morrow Month, being the 7th of May next, upon the whole Merits of the Cause: The Earl Rivers to have Notice herein.
