Sub-committee to attend, for seizing and inventorying the Goods of the Gentleman Usher.

Upon Information to this House, "That the Subcommittee for Midd. have seized and inventoried the Goods of Alexand'r Thayne, Gentleman Usher of the Black Rod, attending this House;" and considering that the Business is referred to the Examination of the Committee of Lords and Commons at Haberdashers Hall: It is Ordered, That Mr. Withers, and the rest of the Committee, shall presently attend this House, to give an Account by what Authority they did it.

Webb, for Blasphemy, at the Bar.

Thomas Webb, being apprehended according to the Order of this House Yesterday, was brought to this Bar:

And the Articles against him were read; and he made his Sense upon them; and confessed, "He was One that exercised his Gifts; but he hath not done it these Two Months, since he hath been told that it is against the Law."

His Opinions to be examined.

Hereupon this House Ordered, That it be referred to Dr. Burges, Mr. Calamy, Mr. Obadiah Sedgwicke, Mr. Caroll, and Mr. Chambers, to examine the said Thomas Webb, concerning his Judgement, and Opinion of the whole Charge; especially concerning the Articles touching his believing in Christ, and touching the Immortality of the Soul; and that they endeavour to settle his Judgement from the Errors of his Opinions, and reduce to the Orthodox Opinion; and that they make their Certificate of the same to this House.

And it is further Ordered, That the said Webb shall remain in safe Custody he now is under, until he put in such Bail for his safe Custody as this House shall approve of.

Ordinance for the Attainder of the Archbishop of Cant.

Next, the House was adjourned into a Committee during Pleasure, to take into Consideration and Debate the Ordinance for the Attainder of Wm. Laude, Archbishop of Canterbury.

The House was resumed.

And it is Ordered, That all this Business shall be taken into Consideration on Monday Morning next, at which Time the Lords absent are to have Notice thereof.

No Persons to seize or inventory the Goods in the Hands of Mr. Thayne, Gentleman Usher, but the Committee at Haberdashers Hall.

"Whereas, upon Information given to the Committee of Lords and Commons sitting at Habberdashers Hall, London (that certain Goods of Sir Edward Herbert Knight were remaining in the House of Alexander Thaine Esquire, the Gentleman Usher attending this House), the Examination of that Business, by Order of both Houses, is referred to the said Committee, who have given some Direction therein: It is therefore now Ordered, by the Lords in Parliament, That no Person or Persons whatsoever, by Warrant of any other Committee (than the aforesaid Committee of Lords and Commons at Habberdashers Hall), shall intermeddle in the seizing or inventorying of any Goods, while the Matter depends before the said Committee, to whom it stands referred by Order of both Houses as aforesaid."

Adjourn.

House adjourned till 9a, Monday next.
