Sir Edward Leech and Doctor Aylett return with (fn. 1) this Answer from the House of Commons to the Message sent on Saturday last:
That they agree in the Alterations in the Narrative concerning Mrs. Leviston's Business. (Here enter it.)
Bastwick's Petition, complaining of Proceedings in the Starchamber, &c.
Upon reading the Petition of Susanna Bastwicke, Wife to John Bastwicke Doctor in Physic, complaining of "Proceedings and Sentence against her Husband in the Star-chamber, and the High Commission Court; which Proceedings and Censures are against the Law: Therefore desires that their Lordships would please to take these Grievances into Consideration, and to appoint some Time for the Hearing the said Businesses, that so the Petitioner's Husband may be absolutely freed from his several Fines, Censures, and Commitment; and to order Reparations to be made for his Damages sustained thereby."
Hereupon this House Ordered, To hear the Counsel of Dr. Bastwicke on Monday next.
Wharsingers, &c. Petition, for Carts to go through Palace Yard.
Upon reading the Petition of Wharfingers, Brewers, Woodmongers, &c. Inhabitants beyond The Chayne, in The Old Pallace, to The Horse Ferry, concerning their coming with their Carts through The Ould Pailace: It is Ordered, That it is referred to the Examination of Mr. Serjeant Whitfield, who is to certify to this House the true State of the Business; and that all Parties concerned in the Business shall attend him.
Legg and Symons.
Upon reading the Petition of Jonas Legg: It is Ordered, That the Differences and Matters of Accompt depending between him and Edward Symons, surviving Executor of Sir Roger Townesend, is referred to the Examination of Wm. Cockayne and Maurice Thompson, Merchants of London, and to Two others of the like Quality, which shall be named by Edward Symons; who, after Examination of the Business, shall report and certify the true State of the Business to this House; and then this House will take the Business into further Consideration.
No Alehouse to be kept under the Prince's Lodgings.
Complaint being made, "of an Alehouse being kept under the Prince's Lodgings, and of many Disorders there:" It is Ordered, That there shall be no Alehouse for the future kept there; and that the same be presently suppressed.
Message to the H. C. to expedite Propositions for a Peace.
A Message was sent to the House of Commons, by Sir Edward Leech and Dr. Aylett:
To desire them that they would expedite the Propositions for a safe and well-grounded Peace, with what Conveniency they can.
