After hearing Counsel, in Part, in the Cause wherein John Burns and Robert Grier are Appellants, and Duncan Stewart is Respondent:

It is Ordered, That the further Hearing of the said Cause be put off 'till To-morrow, Twelve o'Clock.

Inglis et al. v. Harper.

Ordered, That the Hearing of the Cause wherein William Inglis, and others, are Appellants, and James Harper Esquire is Respondent, be put off sine Die.

Ld. Stuart de Rothesay takes the Oaths.

This Day Charles Lord Stuart de Rothesay took the Oaths, and also took and subscribed the Oath of Abjuration, pursuant to the Statutes.

Durham Road Bill:

Hodie 3^a vice lecta est Billa, intituled, "An Act for more effectually repairing and improving the Road between the City of Durham and the Village of Shotley Bridge, in the County of Durham."

The Question was put, "Whether this Bill shall pass?"

It was resolved in the Affirmative.

Message to H.C. that the Lords have agreed to it.

A Message was sent to the House of Commons, by Mr. Cross and Sir Giffin Wilson;

To acquaint them, That the Lords have agreed to the said Bill, without any Amendment.

Ramié's Naturalization Bill:

Hodie 3^a vice lecta est Billa, intituled, "An Act for naturalizing Charles Francis Ramié."

The Question was put, "Whether this Bill shall pass?"

It was resolved in the Affirmative.

A Message was sent to the House of Commons, by the former Messengers;

To carry down the said Bill, and desire their Concurrence thereto.

Wooler & Breamish Roads Bill Specially reported.

The Earl of Shaftesbury reported from the Lords Committees appointed to consider of the Bill, intituled, "An Act for consolidating the Trusts of certain Roads called the Breamish and Wooler Turnpike Roads, in the County of Northumberland, and for more effectually improving and maintaining the same;" "That the Committee had met, and considered the said Bill; and, in the first place, proceeded to enquire how far the Standing Orders of the House relative to Road Bills had been complied with; and found that all the said Orders had been complied with, except in the following Particular; viz ^t. That no Notice of the Bill had been given in the County Newspaper in the Months of August, September, October or November last, the Period prescribed by the Standing Order of the House; but it was stated to the Committee by the Solicitor for the Bill, that the Consolidation of the Trusts of the Breamish and Wooler Roads is an Object of great National Advantage, and that if such Trusts were consolidated a great Improvement might be effected upon the Roads, the Transmission of His Majesty's Mail would be accelerated, and a greater Facility would be afforded to the Intercourse between distant Parts of the United Kingdom; and it was proved to the Committee, that Notice of the Bill was inserted Three Times in the Newspaper called The Newcastle Courant, in the Month of April last, pursuant to Leave granted by the House of Commons; and that the Committee had gone through the Bill, and directed him to report the same to their Lordships, without any Amendment."

Which Report being read by the Clerk;

Ordered, That the said Report do lie on the Table.

Abergavenny Roads Bill.

The Earl of Shaftesbury reported from the Lords Committees, to whom the Bill, intituled, "An Act for more effectually repairing certain Roads leading to and from the Town of Abergavenny, in the County of Monmouth; and for making and maintaining several new Branches of Road to communicate therewith," was committed; "That they had considered the said Bill, and examined the Allegations thereof, which were found to be true; and that the Committee had gone through the Bill, and made One Amendment thereto."

Which Amendment was read by the Clerk as follows; (viz ^t.)

"Pr. 6. L. 38. After ("Crucorney") insert ("and also another new Line of Road to branch off from the lastmentioned Line of Road at or near the said Place called Cross-onen, and to communicate with the Turnpike Road from Abergavenny aforesaid to the City of Hereford, near a Barn called Skybor Wen, in the said Parish of Abergavenny")

And the said Amendment, being read a Second Time, was agreed to by the House.

Belfast Bridge Bill.

The Earl of Shaftesbury also reported from the Lords Committees, to whom the Bill, intituled, "An Act for erecting and maintaining a Bridge over the River Lagan at Belfast, and for making suitable Approaches thereto," was committed; "That they had considered the said Bill, and examined the Allegations thereof, which were found to be true; and that the Committee had gone through the Bill, and directed him to report the same to the House, without any Amendment."

Owen's Petition to change Reference to Judges.

Upon reading the Petition of The Reverend Thomas Owen of Dolgelly, in the County of Merioneth, Clerk; praying, "That their Lordships will be pleased to refer his Petition presented to the House on the 7th of this instant July, praying for Leave to bring in a Private Bill for the Purposes therein mentioned, to Mr. Baron Bayley and Mr. Justice Gaselee, instead of Mr. Justice Littledale and Mr. Baron Bolland; Mr. Justice Littledale being at present absent on the Midland Circuit, and Mr. Baron Bolland being about to leave London on the South Wales Circuit:"

It is Ordered, That the Consideration of the said Petition be, and is hereby referred to Mr. Baron Bayley and Mr. Justice Gaselee, who are forthwith to summon all Parties concerned in the Bill, and, after hearing them, are to report to the House the State of the Case, with their Opinion thereupon, under their Hands, and whether all Parties, who may be concerned in the Consequences of the Bill, have signed the Petition; and also, that the Judges, having perused the Bill, do sign the same.

Meredith's et al. Petition referred to Judges.

Upon reading the Petition of Mary Meredith of Coddington, in the County Palatine of Chester, Spinster; Elizabeth Meredith of the same Place, Spinster; John Meredith of Tattenhall, in the County of Chester, Gentleman; and Philip Humberston of the City of Chester, Gentleman; praying Leave to bring in a Bill, for the Purposes in the said Petition mentioned:

Tobacco Growth Prohibition (Ireland) Bill.

A Message was brought from the House of Commons, by Mr. Bernal and others;

With a Bill, intituled, "An Act to repeal an Act of the Nineteenth Year of King George the Third, for repealing so much of several Acts as prohibit the Growth and Produce of Tobacco in Ireland, and to permit the Importation of Tobacco of the Growth and Produce of that Kingdom into Great Britain;" to which they desire the Concurrence of this House.

The said Bill was read the First Time.

Ordered, That the said Bill be printed.

Kennet Navigation Bill.

A Message was brought from the House of Commons, by Mr. Charles Dundas and others;

With a Bill, intituled, "An Act to alter and amend the several Acts for making navigable the River Kennet; in the County of Berks;" to which they desire the Concurrence of this House.

Avon & Gloucester Railway Bill.

A Message was brought from the House of Commons, by Mr. Charles Dundas and others;

With a Bill, intituled, "An Act to alter the Line of the Avon and Gloucester Railway, to make certain Branches from the same, and to amend the Act for making the said Railway;" to which they desire the Concurrence of this House.

Wakefield Road Bill.

A Message was brought from the House of Commons, by Mr. Charles Dundas and others;

With a Bill, intituled, "An Act for making and maintaining a Road from the Bottom of Kirkgate to the Bottom of Westgate, both in the Parish of Wakefield, in the West Riding of the County of York;" to which they desire the Concurrence of this House.

Teignmouth, &c. Roads Bill.

A Message was brought from the House of Commons, by Viscount Ebrington and others;

With a Bill, intituled, "An Act to amend an Act of His late Majesty King George the Fourth, for more effectually maintaining the Road from Teignmouth to Dawlish, and for making Roads from Dawlish to the Exeter Turnpike Roads, together with a Road from Southtown to Chudleigh, and certain Branches communicating with the same, all in the County of Devon; and to make and maintain other Roads communicating with the said Roads;" to which they desire the Concurrence of this House.

Bolton & Leigh Railway Bill.

A Message was brought from the House of Commons, by Mr. Greene and others;

With a Bill, intituled, "An Act to amend and enlarge the several Acts relating to the Bolton and Leigh Railway;" to which they desire the Concurrence of this House.

The said Five Bills were, severally, read the First Time.

Dean Forest Boundaries Bill reported:

The Earl of Shaftesbury (according to Order) reported the Amendment made by the Committee of the Whole House to the Bill, intituled, "An Act for ascertaining the Boundaries of the Forest of Dean, and for inquiring into the Rights and Privileges claimed by Free Miners of the Hundred of Saint Briavel's; and for other Purposes."

The said Amendment was read by the Clerk as follows; (viz ^t.)

"Pr. 6. L. 29. After ("Effect") insert Clause A.

"(Clause A.) And be it further enacted, That the said Commissioners, before they shall be capable of acting in the Execution of this Act, shall severally take and subscribe an Oath before a Justice of the Peace for the County of Gloucester, or before One of the said Commissioners (having first taken the said Oath), to the Effect following; that is to say,

"I A. B. do swear, That I will faithfully, impartially and honestly, according to the best of my Skill and Judgment, execute the several Powers reposed in me by an Act of the Second Year of the Reign of His Majesty King William the Fourth, intituled, "An Act for ascertaining the Boundaries of the Forest of Dean, and for inquiring into the Rights and Privileges claimed by Free Miners of the Hundred of Saint Briavel's; and for other Purposes," according to the Tenor and Purport of the said Act. So help me God."

And the said Amendment, being read a Second Time, was agreed to by the House.

Ordered, That the said Bill be read the Third Time To-morrow.

Rothbury Inclosure Bill.

Hodie 2^a vice lecta est Billa, intituled, "An Act for inclosing Lands in the Parish of Rothbury, in the County of Northumberland."

Their Lordships, or any Five of them, to meet on Friday next, at Ten o'Clock in the Forenoon, in the Prince's Lodgings, near the House of Peers; and to adjourn as they please.

Liverpool; &c. Roads Bill.

Hodie 2^a vice lecta est Billa, intituled, "An Act for more effectually repairing, amending and improving the Roads from Liverpool to Prescot, Ashton and Warrington, in the County Palatine of Lancaster."

Vale of Blackmoor Roads Bill.

Hodie 2^a vice lecta est Billa, intituled, "An Act to continue and amend an Act of the Fifth Year of His late Majesty, for repairing the Roads from Durweston Bridge to Caundle Bishop, and other Roads, in the Counties of Dorset and Somerset, so far as relates to the Vale of Blackmoor Turnpike Roads."

Manchester Bolton & Bury Railway Bill.

Hodie 2^a vice lecta est Billa, intituled, "An Act to enable the Company of Proprietors of the Canal Navigation from Manchester to Bolton and to Bury to make and maintain a Railway from Manchester to Bolton and to Bury, in the County Palatine of Lancaster, upon or near the Line of the said Canal Navigation, and to make and maintain a Collateral Branch to communicate therewith."

Writers to the Signet Widows Fund Bill.

Earl Stanhope's Estate Bill.

Ordered, That the said Bill be committed to the Consideration of the Lords Committees aforenamed:

Their Lordships, or any Five of them, to meet on Monday the 1st of August next, at the usual Time and Place; and to adjourn as they please.

Assessed Taxes Composition Bill.

The House (according to Order) was adjourned during Pleasure, and put into a Committee upon the Bill, intituled, "An Act to continue Compositions for Assessed Taxes until the Fifth Day of April One thousand eight hundred and thirty-three; and to grant Relief in certain Cases."

After some Time, the House was resumed:

And The Earl of Shaftesbury reported from the Committee, "That they had gone through the Bill, and directed him to report the same to the House, without any Amendment."

Militia Ballots Suspension Bill.

The House (according to Order) was adjourned during Pleasure, and put into a Committee upon the Bill, intituled, "An Act to suspend, until the End of the next Session of Parliament, the making of Lists, and the Ballots and Enrolments, for the Militia of the United Kingdom."

After some Time, the House was resumed:

And The Earl of Shaftesbury reported from the Committee, "That they had gone through the Bill, and directed him to report the same to the House, without any Amendment."

Order for Lords to be summoned, discharged.

It was moved, "That the Order made on Monday the 11th of this instant July, "That all the Lords be summoned to attend the Service of the House on Friday, the 22d of this instant July." be now read."

The same was accordingly read by the Clerk.

Ordered, That the said Order be discharged.
