Ordered, That all Ordinances shall be read Twice, and committed, and read a Third Time, before they be passed this House.

Archbishop of Canterbury Counsel, in Mr. Smart's Cause.

Upon the Petition of the Archbishop of Cant. it is Ordered, That Mr. Chute, Mr. Herne, and Mr. Hayles, are hereby assigned for Counsel for him, in the Cause against him and others, upon the Impeachment brought from the House of Commons, in Behalf of Mr. Smart; and that he shall have Copies of what concerns him in this Cause.

Pettus and Ayliff.

Ordered, That Mrs. Pettus's Cause shall be heard on Tuesday Morning next, at Nine of the Clock in the Morning.

Fitchett and Shallaker, for providing Fuel for this House.

"Upon reading the Petition of Wilcks Fitchet and Wm. Shallaker, to desire "That their Lordships would take some Course that the Monies which they have laid out for Provision of Wood and Coal for this House, may be re-paid them:" Hereupon this House Ordered, To send the said Petition to the House of Commons, to desire them that some Course may be taken for the paying the Petitioners such Monies as are really due unto them, out of the King's Revenue, which were designed formerly for the paying the Petitioners their Monies of Provisions.

Mrs. Vaneinden's Cause.

Ordered, That Mrs. Vannenden's Cause shall be heard, by Counsel on both Sides, on Thursday come Sevennight, peremptorily; and all Parties are to have Notice to appear with their Witnesses.

Mr. Bolles sworn Clerk of the Crown.

This Day John Bolles was sworn at this Bar Clerk of the Crown in Chancery, the Clerk of the Parliaments reading the Oath to him, as followeth:

"You shall swear, that well and truly ye shall serve the King our Sovereign Lord, and His People, in the Office of Clerk of the Crown in the Chancery, whereunto ye be called and admitted: Ye shall be diligent to dispatch and further the King's Business from Time to Time, as Need shall require; and well and truly demean and order yourself in the same Office: The Counsel of the King in any Thing that belongeth to your Office ye shall not disclose: Ye shall not procure ne assente unto any Disherison or perpetual Damage to the King's Majesty, to your Power or Knowledge: Ye shall not procure ne assente unto any Fraud or Deceit to be had, or done, in any of the King's Records whereunto ye shall have Recourse, but ye shall well and truly intreat the same: And ye shall well and truly do all that appertaineth and belongeth to the said Office, according to your Power, Learning, and Skill: As help you God."

Order for 2000l. for the Garrison of Windsor.

"Martis, 12 Decembris, 1643.

" (fn. 1) Whereas Two Thousand Pounds was, by Ordinance of the 28th of November last, appointed to be paid for the Relief of the Garrison of Windsor: It is this Day Ordered, by the Lords and Commons assembled in Parliament, That the Committee of Lords and Commons at Habberdashers Hall, with all convenient Speed, do cause the said Two Thousand Pounds to be sent to the Treasurers on the Propositions in Guildhall, out of the deposited Monies on the Twentieth Part; and that they pay the same over to Sir Gilbert Gerrard Treasurer at Wars, who is hereby required and ordered forthwith (upon Receipt of the whole or any Part thereof) to pay the same unto Colonel John Ven Governor of the said Castle, or to such as he shall appoint to receive the same, for and towards Satisfaction of the said Arrears due unto the said Garrison, notwithstanding the Ordinance for Mr. Estwicke and Mr. Ashe."
