PRAYERS.

Message from the H. C to expedite some Ordinances already brought up.

A Message was brought from the House of Commons, by Sir Henry Mildmay Knight, &c. which consisted of these Particulars:

1. To desire Expedition in the Ordinance formerly brought up, concerning the Safety of the City of London.

2. To desire Expedition in the Ordinance of additional Instructions touching Sequestrations.

3. To desire Expedition in the Ordinance concerning Explanation and Vindication of the Covenant.

The Answer returned was:

Answer.

That this House will send an Answer by Messengers of their own.

Committee for the associated Counties.

Ordered, That Mr. John Pykeringe shall be added to all the Committees for the associated Counties of Norff. &c.

Lady Mansell, a Pass.

Ordered, That the Lady Mannesell shall have a Pass, to go into Kente.

Message to the H. C. with a Name to be added to the Committee of the associated Counties.

A Message was sent to the House of Commons, by Sir Edwar. Leech and Mr. Page:

To desire the Concurrence of the House of Commons, that Mr. John Pyckeringe may be added to all the Committees in the associated Counties of Norff. and Suff. &c.

Earl of Westmorland's Petition, for Leave to go into Northamptonshire.

Upon reading of the Petition of the Earl of Westm. desiring, "That he may have Leave granted him from this House, to go to his House in North'tonshire, for his Health:" But the House being not willing he should go into North'tonshire; yet Ordered, That if his Lordship could think of any safe Place within the Power of the Parliament, within a Dozen Miles of London, and acquaint this House therewith, then, upon giving of his Word, upon his Honour, to be confined to that Place for his Health, this House will give him Leave to have his Liberty for his Health.

Overman and Doughty in Error.

Ordered, That the Writ of Error depending in this House, between Overman and Doughty, shall be quashed; and that the Equity of the Business shall be referred to (fn. 1) the Earls of Pembrooke, Denbigh, Lord Viscount Say & Seale, Lord Howard and Lord Wharton, or any Two of them, to call the Parties before them, and examine the Equity of it, and report the same to this House; and that Mr. Baron Trevor and Mr. Serjeant Fynch are to attend the Committee when their Lordships shall please to appoint.

Answer from the H. C. about the Committee for the associated Counties.

The Messengers sent to the House of Commons return with this Answer:

That they agree to the Nomination of Mr. Pyckeringe, to be added to all the Committees for the associated Counties.

None of the King's Houses to be searched, but in Presence of Members of both Houses.

Ordered, That Somersett House, Whithall, nor any of the King's Houses, shall not be searched, nor any Goods carried out of them belonging to the King or Queen, by any but in the Presence of One Peer and Two of the Members of the House of Commons.

To have a Conference with the House of Commons, to desire their Concurrence herein.

Oath to be taken, for securing London.

Next the Ordinance was read, touching the taking of an Oath for the securing of the City of London; and this House Resolved, To have a Conference with the House of Commons, to offer to their Consideration whether it may not be inconvenient to have this Oath forced upon the Gentry that are in London; and desire that the Peers and Assistants of this House may be exempted from taking the said Oath.

Ordinance for securing Kent.

Next, the Ordinance for securing of the County of Kent was read; but nothing now Resolved of.

Wombell versus Foy.

The Petition of Wm. Wombell was read; shewing, That one Foy owing him Fifty Pounds per Bond, and his Estate is sequestering; he desires he may be satisfied out of his Estate."

Countess of Oxford, a Pass.

Ordered, That the Countess of Oxford shall have a Pass, to go to her House in Bedfor'shire.

Serjeant Whitfield, Leave to be absent.

Ordered, That Mr. Serjeant Whitfeild shall be excused for his Attendance on this House for some Time, and to go to his House in Surrey.

Smith and Sanderson.

Ordered, That the Cause between Smith and Saunderson shall be heard on Thursday next.

Adjourn.
