PRAYERS.

Earl of Manchester was appointed by the House to be Speaker this Day.

Lord North discharged from the Weekly Assessment.

The House was informed, "That the Lord North is come to Town to a Lodging for a Time; and the Assessors of the Weekly Assessment in London have rated him at Three Pounds a Week, though the House where he lives pays a full Proportion besides:" Hereupon this House Ordered, That the Committees of the Assessment do discharge the Lord North from the said Assessment.

Message from the H. C. to expedite the Declaration about the Treaty;

A Message was brought from the House of Commons, by Mr. Tate:

To desire their Lordships to speed the Declaration lately brought up from the House of Commons, touching the last Treaty, which will give Satisfaction to the whole Kingdom.

and with Deputy Lieutenants Names for Suffolk.

2. They desire their Lordships Concurrence in nominating Phillip Calthrop, Samuell Smyth, and Thomas Southerton, Esquires, to be Deputy Lieutenants for the County of Norff.; and Mr. Tirrell de Gipping, Nathaniell Bacon de Ipswich, Edmond Harvey, and Francis Brewster, Esquires, to be Deputy Lieutenants for the County of Suff.

Agreed to.

The Answer returned was:

Answer.

That this House agrees with the House of Commons in the Deputy Lieutenants for the Counties of Norff. and Suff. and concerning the Declaration, their Lordships will take the same into speedy Consideration, and send an Answer by Messengers of their own.

Mr. Packer & al. a Pass.

Ordered, That Mr. John Packer, with his Wife, Three Children, Four Servants, a Coach with Four Horses, and Six Saddle-horses, shall have a Pass, to go into Kent, and return back again to London.

Reeve, a Pass.

Ordered, That John Reeve, of Stratton, in the County of Norff. with his Man and Two Horses, shall have a Pass, to come to London, and return again to Stratton.

Mrs. Bickley's Petition.

Ordered, That the Petition of Anne Bickley is hereby referred to the Examination of Sir David Watkins, Sir John Nulls, Mr. Tho. Leake One of the Barons of the Exchequer, and Wm. Cockaine Esquire, who are to report the true State of the Cause to this House.

Delinquents, for cutting Timber in Gillingham Forest, sent for.

Ordered, That the Persons apprehended in the County of Dorsett, for committing of Riots, and cutting down of Woods, in the Forest of Gillingham, contrary to the Order of this House, shall be brought up by the Gentleman Usher of this House, or his Deputy.

Conference to be had with the H. C. on the following Particulars.

Ordered, To have a Conference with the House of Commons, upon these Particulars:

1. Concerning the Lady Kirrie's Petition, concerning the Lord Kirry.

2. Concerning Mr. May.

3. Concerning the Countess of Rivers's Goods that are in the Custom-house sealed up, that her Goods may be restored her again.

Dr. Soame's Petition, about the Value of the Vicarage of Staines.

The Petition of Mr. Doctor Soame was read, declaring That he cannot make a true Valuation of the Profits of the Vicarage of Stanes, because of the great Distractions that are now, and the great Destruction of Sheep and other Things that are titheable; so he humbly desires that some indifferent Persons may be appointed to receive the Tithes, but not those that were Witnesses against him."

Sequestration of it.

Hereupon this House thought fit, that Mr. Doctor Soames should have Two Third Parts of a whole Year's Profit to be paid to him, and a Third Part to the Person that officiates; the Sequestration to be for Four Months; the Profits to be sequestered by indifferent Persons, and the Parson that officiates is to see the Names of such Persons as are tendered by Doctor Soames; if he excepts against any of them, (fn. 1) then to nominate others in their Places, so they be not Ric'd Weekes the Elder, Daniell Enderby, Tho. Weekes the Younger, James Clerke, and Ric'd Shorter, who prosecuted against Doctor Soames; and Doctor Soames, upon this, to be released from his Restraint.

Sequestration of Fyfeild from Dr.Read.

Next, this House took into Consideration what Judgement to give against Doctor Reade; and their Lordships, upon mature Deliberation, Adjudged, "That Doctor Reade, for his Offences, shall be sequestered both from the Profits and officiating in the Parish Church of Fyfeild, in the County of Essex, for the Space of Six whole Months; and that Constant Jesop, Master of Arts, shall officiate the said Cure; and the Profits of the said Living to be sequestered in the Hands of indifferent Persons, who are to receive the same, and pay the Half to Doctor Reade, and the other Half to the said Constant Jesop."

Jennings's Cause.

Ordered, That Mr. Jennings's Business shall be considered of To-morrow Morning.

Adjourn.
