That they have delivered their Message to the House of Commons, concerning the Lady Rivers; and they will return an Answer, by Messengers of their own.

Message from the H. C. with an Order to issue Monies by the Lord General.

A Message was brought from the House of Commons, by Sir Phillip Stapleton; who desired their Lordships Concurrence in the Order following: videlicet,

An Order for the issuing out of Monies by the Lord General.

Agreed to.

E. Carlisle committed to the Gentleman Usher.

The Earl of Carlile being apprehended, and brought to this House; it is Ordered, That he be presently committed to the Custody of the Gentleman Usher, until the Pleasure of this House be further known.

Mr. Vernon to be Deputy Treasurer.

The Order for deputing Mr. Francis Vernon to be Deputy Treasurer was read, and approved of by this House.

Heads of Houses at Cambridge apprehended, for sending their Plate to York;

The Lord General informed this House, "That some Heads of the Colleges in Cambridge, that conveyed the Plate of the Colleges to Yorke, for the maintaining a War against the Parliament, are apprehended; and the Committee for the Safety have given Order they should be brought, by Water to The Tower of London."

Which this House approved of, and Ordered the same accordingly.

and the Bishop of Ely.

"Likewise the Bishop of Ely, being sent for by this House to appear before their Lordships, upon a Complaint of the House of Commons, he refused to come, and pretended Sickness; but, being now apprehended, the Committee for the Safety (fn. 1) have likewise given Order he should be brought by Water, and committed to The Tower."

Which Commitment this House approved of, and Ordered the same.

Sandeford's Examination, who was hired to kill the E. of Essex.

Upon the Report of the Lord Chief Justice, of the Examination of Sandeford; It is Ordered, That the Business shall be heard at this Bar To-morrow; and the Party and Witnesses shall be summoned to appear.

Treasurers of Plate to issue Money to the Treasurers of the Army.

"It is this Day Ordered, by the Lords and Commons in Parliament, That the Treasurers for the Subscription of Plate and Money in Guildhall, London, shall issue, from Time to Time, unto the Treasurer for the Army, such Sum or Sums of Money as they shall be willed and required, from Time to Time, by Warrant from my Lord General, to issue; which Warrants, together with an Acquittance under the Hand of the Treasurer of the Army, or his Deputy, shall be a sufficient Discharge."

Capt. Vernon, Deputy Treasurer at War.

"It is this Day Ordered, by the Lords and Commons in Parliament assembled, That Captain Francis Vernon is allowed to be Deputy to Sir Gilb't Gherard, Treasurer at Wars for the Army now to be raised by Parliament; and the Lords and Commons do Declare, That, for such Monies as come to the Hands of Captain Vernon aforesaid, Deputy Treasurer at Wars, he shall be responsable and accomptable for the same, and Sir Gilbert be discharged thereof, who shall be accomptable only for such Monies as shall come to the Hands of the said Sir Gilbt. Gherard."
