PRAYERS.

The Lord Grey was appointed to be Speaker this Day.

Poor Irish Ministers, 3 l. a piece Collection-money.

A Petition of divers distressed Ministers, to the Number of Twenty, come out of Ireland, was read; desiring, "That they may have the Benefit of the Collection of the next Fast in London and Westm. and the Suburbs thereof."

Ordered, That they shall have allotted, out of the Contributions in Westm. and the Suburbs of London, Three Pounds apiece.

Sir George Clarke may leave Judge Berkley in other Custody, whilst he is out of Town.

Ordered, That, if Sir George Clarke, who hath the Custody of Mr. Justice Berkley committed (fn. 1) unto him, have Occasion to go into the Country, he may be permitted to leave Mr. Justice Berkeley with some Person in London, who (fn. 2) will be answerable for the safe Custody of him.

Dawnson and others, a Pass to France.

Ordered, That James Dawnson, Alex. Kirke, and James Inglis, shall have a Pass, to go over into any Part of France.

E. of Portland transferred to the Custody of Sir Edmund Wright.

Ordered, That the Earl of Portland shall be transferred over from Sir George Garret, now Sheriff, to Sir Edmond Wright, One of the Aldermen of the City of London, to remain in his Custody under the same Restraint that he is now under in Sir George Garrett's Custody.

A Message was brought from the House of Commons, by Mr. Moore; which consisted of many Particulars:

Message from the H. C. to desire Concurrence in the following Particulars;

1. To desire Concurrence in Payment of Four Hundred Pounds to Captain Church and Captain Berisford, &c. (Here enter it.)

Agreed to.

2. (fn. 3) They desire Concurrence, that the Letter written to the Earl Northumb. from the Lord Lieutenant of Ireland, may be printed and published.

Respited until the Earl of Northumb. comes.

and a Conference about Ireland.

3. To desire a present Conference, concerning Ireland.

Agreed to.

The Answer returned was:

Answer to the H. C.

That this House agrees to the Order now brought up, and will agree to give a Conference presently: But concerning the printing of the Letter, this House will send an Answer, by Messengers of their own.

This House was adjourned during Pleasure, and the Lords went to the Conference; which being ended, the House was resumed.

Conference about Ireland reported.

The Speaker reported the Effect of the Conference; which was, "The good Service that Captain Ashley hath done, in relieving the Fort of Gallaway, and firing some Houses about the Town; and that Sir Francis Willoughby desires Supplies of Muskets and Ammunition, and the Fort to be recruited with One Hundred Men.

"Also that Captain Ashley related, That the Lord Inchequin, with Two Thousand Men, fought with the Earl of Musgrave, who had a Body of Eight Thousand Men, who lost Six Hundred and Eighty Men, and Fifteen Hundred Muskets, and a great Piece of Ordnance; and that the Town of Gallaway put up the Colours of the King (fn. 4) of Spaine."

Ordered, That Letters be sent to those Lords that are absent, to attend this House; and those in Town to have Notice.

E. of Leicester's Letter to be printed.

Ordered, That the Earl of Leycester's Letter to the Earl of Northumb. shall be printed and published.

Order to pay Captains Church and Beresford, 450 l.

"It is this Day Ordered, by the Lords and Commons in Parliament assembled, That Four Hundred and Fifty Pounds shall be paid to Captain Thomas Church, and Captain Michaell Bereesford, and others of Colerayne, Commanders of the Seven Hundred Men and the Troop of Horse; and it is referred to Mr. Wheeler and Mr. Thompson, to see it done proportionably; and that, when it shall please God that the Kingdom of Ireland shall be reduced, then, the Adventurers first satisfied, these Commanders are to have Satisfaction out of the Rebels Lands, answerable to their Expence, as it shall be found by Commission."
