DIE Veneris, videlicet, 19 die Novembris.

PRAYERS.

Sir Faithful Fortescue not to depart.

Ordered, That Sir Faithfull Fortescue, Knight, being now in England (between whom and the Lady Slingsby there is a Cause depending before the Lords Committees for Petitions) shall not depart this Kingdom, until he have attended the said Lords Committees for Petitions, touching and concerning the said Cause, and received such Directions from their Lordships therein as they in their Wisdoms shall direct.

Petition of the Officers of the Army for Pay.

The Petition of the Colonels and Chief Commanders in the King's late Army was read; shewing, "That whereas there was Trust desired by the Parliament of the said Officers for Part of their Pay; and thereupon an Act was made for their Satisfaction to be given positively on the 10th of this Instant November; they desire that the Parliament may be moved to make good their Act:" Hereupon it was Ordered, That this Petition be communicated to the House of Commons, at the next Conference; and likewise to be propounded at the same Time, that some Ships may be appointed to guard the narrow Seas.

Hughes sent for, about the Service Book.

Ordered, That Lewes, Hughes, a Minister, be sent for, to attend this House, to see if he will avow the making of a Book, intituled, The Grievances or Errors of the Service Book; and that the Company of the Stationers do take Care to find out the Printer of the same.

Inigo Jones, his Charge appointed to be read.

Ordered, That the Charge against Inigo Jones, brought up from the House of Commons, shall be publicly read in this House on the Tenth Day of December next; at which Time the said Mr. Jones is hereby Ordered to attend this House, for the Hearing of the said Charge read, and receiving their Lordships further Commands therein.

E. of Stamford and L. Pagett sent to the French Ambassador, about a Pamphlet.

Ordered, That the Earl of Stamford and the Lord Pagett do go to the French Ambassador, to let him know what the Sense of this House is concerning the Pamphlet wherein he is mentioned.

Pluralities and Non-residence.

Ordered, That the Committee for the Bill against Pluralities do meet on Monday next, at Four a Clock in the Afternoon; and that the Lord Roberts be added to the said Committee.

Emperor's Agent not to give an Account of his Stay here.

Ordered, That the Agent employed from the Emperor of Germany shall not be compelled, by any of His Majesty's Subjects, to give or render any Account unto them of the Reasons of his Abode or Stay here in England.

Message to the H. C. for a Conference.

A Message was sent to the House of Commons, by Justice Reeves and Dr. Bennett:

To desire a Conference, by a Committee of both Houses,

Subjects of the Conference.

1. Concerning the sequestering of the Isle of Wight.

2. Concerning the securing of Popish Recusants.

3. Concerning a Petition of the Officers of the late Army.

4. Concerning some Ships to be appointed, to guard the narrow Seas.

Depredations by the Dutch.

Ordered, That the Earl of Stamford and the Lord Howard of Charleton do move The States Ambassador once more, that Satisfaction be given to those Persons that have suffered Losses by Depredations.

Judges Wages.

Ordered, That the Committee to consider of the Addition of some further Maintenance to be made to the Puny Judges, do meet on Monday Morning next, at Eight a Clock.

Earl of St. Albans's Solicitor not to depart the Town, though a Recusant.

Whereas the Earl of St. Albans is now in Ireland, where there is special Cause of his Continuance, for the Good of that Kingdom, and His Majesty's Service, by Reason of the Rebellion that is lately broke out there; and for that his Lordship's Solicitor Mr. Brewer, who only knows his Affairs here, and understands his Law-suits, is a Recusant, who, with all others of that Religion, are commanded to depart this Town, by an Order of this House dated the 16th of this Instant November: Now, forasmuch as this Case is extraordinary, it is thought fit, and so Ordered, etc. That the said Mr. Brewer, for the Reasons aforesaid, and for the Service that he is able to do the said Earl of St. Albans above any other Man, shall not be enjoined to depart this Town, according to the Injunction of the said Order; with this Proviso nevertheless, that this Liberty given to him shall not be drawn into Example for other Recusants to continue about this Town, contrary to the said Order.

Citizens of London trading to the Western Parts, Order about their Goods.

Upon the humble Petition of divers Citizens of London, on the Behalf of themselves and others trading into the Cities of Exon, Bristoll, and other the Western Parts, complaining, "That the Mayor and Common Council of Exon have lately made an Order, That, unless Oath be made before the Lord Mayor of London, to be certified under his Hand and Seal, of the Particulars of their Goods sent, and to whom consigned, and that they were never in any House, or in Charge of any infected Person, all their Goods shall be opened and aired before they be brought to that City, to the great Charge and Prejudice of the Petitioners:" It is therefore Ordered, etc. That the said Petitioners and others the Citizens of London shall have free Liberty, by virtue of this Order, to trade with their Goods to Bristoll, Exon, and other the Western Parts, both by themselves and their Servants, in as free a Manner as in former Times they have done, notwithstanding any Order made by the Mayor and Common Council of Exon, or any other Order of the like Nature made to the contrary whatsoever; and it is the Lords Pleasure, That Notice be taken of this Order, and that it be obeyed accordingly.

Carr, etc. their Submission, ordered to be bound to keep the Peace.

Ordered, etc. That Henry Carre, Anthony Love, John Shepheard, David Couling, and Solloman Bartholmew, shall make their Acknowledgement and Submission for their Contempt done to the Upper House of Parliament, on Saturday come Fortnight, being the Fourth of December next, at Donnington, publicly, on a Marketday, before a Justice of Peace for the County of Lincolne, before whom also they are to enter into Bonds of One Hundred Pounds a-piece, one for another, to keep the Peace hereafter.

Wall restored to his Place of Door-keeper.

Ordered, etc. That Thomas Wall shall be restored to his former Employment about the Upper House of Parliament, which although it is in the Gentleman Usher's Disposure, yet the Lords do presume that he will give Way unto it, by reason that his Dismission from his Employment was by Order of this House, for the Neglect of his Duty to their Lordships only, and the Business that concerned the House.

The House was adjourned during Pleasure, and the Lords went to the Conference; which being ended, the House was resumed.
