DIE Jovis, videlicet, 8 die Julii.

PRAYERS.

Rioters against the Bishop of Lincoln, conc. Bugden, submit and are discharged.

Upon Information given to this House by the Lord Bishop of Lincolne, That Mary Shelley, Henry Longeland, and Mary his Wife, John Laundell, and Marrian his Wife, and Francis Bradshawe, who were sent for up to appear in this House, and are now Prisoners in The Fleet, for breaking up the Fences of the Freehold and Inclosures of the said Lord Bishop of Lincolne, at Buckden, have made their humble Submission to his Lordship, with a Promise not to commit the same Misdemeanors again: Hereupon, and at the Request of the said Lord Bishop of Lincolne, it is Ordered, That the Offenders aforesaid shall be released of their present Imprisonment in The Fleet, for any Thing concerning this Cause.

Lords Pollmoney to be paid to Mr. Paramour.

Ordered, That all such Monies as are to be paid by the Peers of this Realm, and Assistants of this House, by virtue of an Act of Parliament, intituled, "An Act for the speedy Provision of Money, for disbanding of the Armies, etc." shall be paid unto Tho. Paramour, Esquire, at his House situate and being in The Covent Garden, between this and Saturday next; and Mr. Parramour is to give an Account on Monday Morning next, who hath paid, and who hath not.

Message from the H. C. for a Conference concerning the Cessation of Arms with the Scots.

A Message was sent the House of Commons, by the Master of the Rolls and Mr. Justice Mallet:

To desire that the select Committee of both Houses may have a present Meeting, touching the Cessation of Arms with the Scotts.

Burgh's Petition to be heard.

The Petition of Edward Burgh, which he presented to His Majesty, was recommended to this House from His Majesty, and read; and Ordered to be heard next Sitting after Michaelmas.

Lord Mayor, etc. versus The Commonalty of London.

Ordered, That the Cause concerning the Election of One of the Sheriffs of London shall be heard on Saturday Morning next; and the Lord Mayor, Aldermen, and the Six Persons chosen by the Commonalty, to be then present.

Bill against Recusants.

Then the House was put into a Committee during Pleasure, to debate the Bill concerning the disarming of Popish Recusants; but this Debate was interrupted, and the House was resumed.

The Answer which the Messengers brought from the House of Commons:

That the select Committee of their House will give a present Meeting, in the Painted Chamber, with the select Committee of Lords.

Longer Cessation of Arms.

This House gave Power and Authority to the Lords of the select Committee, to assent with the House of Commons, for the Continuance of the Cessation of Arms with the Scotts for Fifteen Days longer from the Expiration of the last Cessation, upon the same Terms as formerly, if the Treaty last so long.

Then the select Committee of Lords went into the Painted Chamber, to meet with the select Committee of the House of Commons.

A Message from the House of Commons was sent, by Mr. Stroude:

Message from the House of Commons, to empower the Committee to settle the Ten Heads.

To desire that this House will give Power to the Committee for the Ten Heads, to meet with their Committee, de die in diem, to perfect the Heads, and adjourn themselves from Time to Time, as they shall see Cause.

This House Ordered the same accordingly.

The Answer to the said Message was:

That this House hath given Power to the Lords Committees to meet, as is desired; and that their Lordships have appointed to meet this Afternoon, at Four a Clock, in the Painted Chamber.

Harward versus Somers, in Error.

This Day the Lord Chief Justice of the King s Bench brought in a Writ of Error, between Harward and Somers; which was delivered to the Clerk, and the Transcript examined.

Bill against Recusants.

Ordered, That the Bill concerning disarming of Recusants be further debated To-morrow Morning.

A Message was brought up from the House of Commons, by Sir John Culpepper:

Cessation of Arms with the Scotts renewed.

To let their Lordships know, That the House of Commons have given their Consent and Approbation to the Cessation of Arms with the Scotts for Fifteen Days longer after the Expiration of the last, upon the same Terms as the former, if the Treaty lasts so long. Hereupon it is Ordered, That this House doth concur in the same with the House of Commons, and gives Power to the Lords Commissioners to treat with the Scotts Commissioners, for renewing and continuing the Cessation of Arms accordingly.

The Fourth Head.

After this, the House was turned into a Committee, to debate the Fourth Head brought from the House of Commons, "concerning the Queen's Majesty;" and the First Branch was agreed to.

To the Second Article, it was agreed, to join with the House of Commons, to move the King, that He will be pleased not to give His Consent to the same hereafter, it being against the Laws of this Kingdom.

To the Third, "concerning the College of Capuchins at Denmarke-House," agreed to.

The Fourth, not now resolved.

Lords to report the Conference.

The House was resumed; and these Lords were appointed to report the Result of the Meeting this Afternoon: videlicet,

Smart versus Dr. Cosens et al.

Ordered, That the Cause between Peter Smarte and Dr. Cosens and others, shall be peremptorily heard, in open House, at the Bar, on Wednesday the 14th of this Instant July, in the Morning; and that the said Mr. Smarte shall give Notice of the same, to the Parties whom it concerns; and such Witness as are to be produced are to be examined at the Bar.

A Message was brought from the House of Commons, by Mr. Pim:

Message from the H. C. for a Conference about the Manifesto concerning the Elector Palatine.

To desire a Conference, by a Committee of both Houses, touching the late Manifesto concerning the Prince Elector; and further to let their Lordships know, that the House of Commons intend to sit this Afternoon: therefore they desire that their Lordships would be pleased to sit likewise.

The Answer was:

That their Lordships will give a Conference, as is desired, this Afternoon, at Five of the Clock, in the Painted Chamber.

Survey of the Cinque Ports.

Ordered, That the Right Honourable the Earl of March, Lord Warden of the Cinque Ports, shall, by virtue of this Order, receive from the Earl of Newport, Master of the Ordnance, the Survey of the Cinque Ports lately taken by Order of this House, and returned to his Lordship.

Aqueductmoney to be applied to draining the Fens.

Ordered, That Sir Jo. Hales, Knight, and all others in whose Custody the Six Thousand Pounds remaineth, being Part of the Aqueduct Money, and Parcel of a greater Sum to be issued out of that Money, for the Recovery of Part of the Fens in The Great Level, shall forthwith, upon Sight hereof, pay, or cause to be paid, the said Six Thousand Pounds unto the Earls of Bath and Bedford, and the Lord Pagett, or any Two of them, according to a former Order of this House; and that this Order shall be their sufficient Warrant and Discharge for so doing. And lastly, That this House will take it into their Care and Consideration, how and by what Means the said Monies shall be re-paid, to such Person or Persons as this House shall approve of, for the going on in the Business of the Aqueduct, and to be by him or them expended in that Design, (fn. 1) according to the First Intent.

Report of the Conference concerning the Ten Heads.

The Lords of the select Committee for the Ten Heads went into the Painted Chamber, to meet with the select Committee of the House of Commons; and their Lordships being returned from the said Meeting, the Lord Privy Seal reported, "That the select Committees of both Houses have met, and read over the several Heads, and the House of Commons concurs in every Thing, and will report the same to their House; and that they have appointed to meet again Tomorrow in the Afternoon, at Five a Clock."

Forsey's Petition re-committed.

Ordered, That the Petition and Cause of John Forsey shall be re-committed to the Lords Committees for Petitions, who are to appoint a Day peremptorily for the Hearing of the said Cause; and that all Parties and Witnesses have Directions to attend their Lordships at the said Hearing; and lastly, that the said Forsey shall, upon good and sufficient Security for his true Imprisonment given to the Marshal of The King's Bench, have Liberty, by virtue of this Order, to repair into the County of Norfolke, and City of Norwich, for the serving of the Parties interested in his Petition, and getting up his Witnesses before the Lords of Parliament, against such Time as their Lordships shall appoint for the said Hearing; and then to render himself according to the Directions of this House.

Conference about the Elector Palatine.

The House was adjourned during Pleasure, and the Lords went to the Conference; which being ended, the House was resumed; and the Report of this Conference is deferred until To-morrow Morning.
