PRAYERS.

South & al. versus Slingsby.

Upon reading the Petition of Robert South, &c. against Guildford Slyngsby; it is Ordered, That the Cause shall be heard before the Committee for Petitions, on Tuesday next, in the Afternoon; at which Time all Parties on both Sides are to attend; and Cause is to be shewn why the Petitioners shall not take the Benefit of their Attachments against the said Slyngsby.

Nash versus Kynaston, in Error.

Upon reading the Certificate of the Judges in the King's Bench, "That the original Writ, in the Cause concerning Nash and Kynaston, is casually lost, and no Misdemeanour nor Practice therein used;" it is Ordered, That Nash shall assign Errors peremptorily on Saturday Morning next, or else the Record to be remitted to the King's Bench.

Committee for Petitions.

Ordered, That the Committee for Petitions do meet this Afternoon, and only read over Petitions, and retain those which have no Remedy in any other Court to be relieved, and refer those that are proper for other Courts of Justice with Recommendations.

Barlow the Priest to be proceeded against.

Whereas this House was informed, "That a Romish Priest was apprehended on Easter-day last past; at the Hall of Morleys, in the County of Lancaster, called by the Name of Edward Barlowe; who, upon his Examination, confessed himself a Romish Priest, and had received Orders at Arras;" he being now committed to the Common Gaol of Lancaster, it is Ordered, That the said Edward Barlow shall be proceeded against, at the next Assizes for the said County, according to Law.

Capt. Steward's Petition referred.

The Petitions of Captain Steward was delivered into this House, with Recommendations from the Scotts Commissioners; and Ordered to be referred unto the Committee of Petitions.

A Message was brought from the House of Commons, by Sir Robert Harlowe:

Message from the H. C. for a Conference about disbanding the Armies.

To desire that their Lordships would appoint a select Committee of Lords, to meet with a select Committee of their House, to consider of the disbanding of both the Armies in the North; and to settle and perfect the Account between the Scotts and the Northern Counties. Hereupon these Lords were appointed Committees for this Business: videlicet,

Committee to consider of disbanding the Armies.

Their Lordships to meet this Afternoon, at Three a Clock, in the Painted Chamber; and afterwards to have Power to adjourn themselves from Time to Time, as often as they shall see Cause. And the Earl of Bath, Earl of Cambridg, Earl of Bristoll, and the Lord Wharton, to be Reporters from Time to Time, as Occasion serves.

Lord Lieutenantship of Yorkshire to the Earl of Essex.

The Earl of Cambridge reported, "That His Majesty hath taken into Consideration the Desires of both Houses, concerning the conferring of the Lord Lieutenancy of Yorkeshire upon the Earl of Essex; and the Cause why His Majesty did not give an Answer before now was, a Grant was made under the Great Seal of the same to the Lord Savill, who is become a Suitor to His Majesty to give him Leave (seeing it is at the Instance of both Houses) to surrender up his Patent to His Majesty; who hath accepted of that Surrender, and is willing to bestow it upon the Earl of Essex."

The Thank of this House to be given His Majesty for this.

After this, the House appointed the same Lords to return to His Majesty humble Thanks; and thought it fit that Intimation be given to the House of Commons of this Answer of His Majesty.

Committee for the Starchamber.

Ordered, That the Committee for the Starchamber shall have Power to meet and adjourn themselves, from Time to Time, as they shall see Cause.

Restraining Bishops, &c. from Secular Affairs.

Ordered, That the Bill concerning the Bishops be debated To-morrow Morning.

Ordered, That the Lord Awdley's Cause be heard on Monday Morning, the First Cause.

Lord Roch and Sir Pierce Crosby's Witnesses to be examined.

Ordered, That any Three of the Lords Committees for Sir Peirce Croseby's Cause shall have Bower to examine Two of the Lord Roche's Witnesses; videlicet, Robert Savill, Serjeant at Arms, and Joseph Savile, concerning the late Earl of Strafford; whose Depositions are to be sealed up, and kept by the Clerk of the Parliament, until the Hearing of his said Cause.

Committee for the Aqueduct.

Ordered, That the Committee for the Aqueduct which is to be brought from Colne near Richmondsworth, do meet on Tuesday come Sevennight.

Committee for Petitions.

Ordered, That the Committee for Petitions do sit To-morrow in the Afternoon.

Adjourn.
