Cassier, &c. Naturalization Bill.

Hodie 1^a vice lecta est Billa, An Act for Naturalizing of Jo. Cassier, Abraham Hoegarden, and Jacob Watchter, etc.

E. of Lindsey & al. versus Sir Walter Norton.

Upon reading the Petition of the Lord Great Chamberlain, and other of Lincolneshire, against Sir Walter Norton; it was Ordered, That the Petition be referred to the Committee for Petitions; and the Gentleman Usher attending this House to bring the said Sir Walter Norton to appear before this House, to answer the Matters contained in the Petition.

Osbaston's Cause.

Ordered, That Mr. Osbaston's Cause be heard the next Day that the Committee for the Star-chamber doth sit; and that all Parties interested therein to have Notice to be there.

Publishers of unlicensed Books to be sent for.

Next the Master and Wardens of the Company of Stationers appeared, and presented to the House a Paper of some unlicensed Books lately printed, with the Names of the Printers; which being read, it was Ordered, That, by an Order of this House, the Printers and Sellers of unlicensed Books and Pamphlets be sent for, to appear before the Lords Committees following, this Afternoon; and an Order to be given to the Stationers, to search for clandestine Presses, and to give this House an Account thereof.

Committee appointed to examine them.

Ordered, That these Lords Committees do examine the whole Business concerning the Printing and Selling of unlicensed Books and Pamphlets, and to report the same to this House; videlicet,

Their Lordships, or any Five of them, to meet at Three of the Clock this Afternoon, in the Lord Keeper's Lodgings.

Merchant Adventurer's Petition referred.

The Petition of the Merchant Adventurers was read, and Ordered to be referred to the Commissioners and Committee appointed for the Treaty of Consederation with The States, with a Recommendation for Expedition.

Archbishop of Cant.'s Petition for Counsel.

After this, the Petition of the Lord Archbishop of Cant. was read; wherein he humbly prayeth, "in regard many of the Counsellors at Law, and some of the most able, are or will be absent, by reason of the Assizes now ensuing; and in regard also that Mr. Recorder of London hath been of his Counsel in divers Businesses heretofore; he and such others of those formerly named, according to the Schedule annexed, may be granted unto him, upon this great Occasion, as to your Lordships Wisdom shall seem meetest, etc."

His Counsel assigned.

Hereupon it was Ordered, That Mr. Herne, Mr. Hales, Mr. Newdigate, Mr. Wyndham, and Dr. Merricke, be assigned Counsel for the Lord Archbishop of Cant. and may have Liberty to have them for Counsel, instead of those that are of Counsel with the Earl of Strafford.

The Petition of the Earl of Corke was read; and the House conceiving some Particulars therein to be Part of the Earl of Strafford's Charge brought up against him from the House of Commons, thought not fit to Order any Thing in it.

Lowe's Petition.

The Petition of Tho. Lowe was presented to the House, and referred to the Committee for Petitions.

Sutton Marsh.

Ordered, That the Counsel of the Lord Phill. Herbert and Lord Viscount Grandison, etc. and the Counsel of the Earl of March, be heard To-morrow Morning at the Bar, to state the Cause aright concerning Sutton Marsh; and then this House will give such Order therein as may stand with the Justice and Honour of this House.

Sir Geo. Ratcliffe to be examined in the Cause between Sir John Bourchier and the E. of Strafford.

Ordered, That Sir George Radcliffe be brought hither To-morrow in the Afternoon, and be sworn, and give his Evidence, as a Witness before the Lords Committees, in the Cause between Sir John Bourchier and the Earl of Strafford.

Committee to meet about the Treaty with the States.

It was signified to the House, That His Majesty had commanded the Commissioners for the Treaty with The States to give the Lords Committees appointed for that Business an Account of some Particulars touching the Consederation; therefore it was Ordered, That the Commissioners and the Committee should meet this Afternoon, at Three of the Clock, about it.
