PRAYERS.

Dr. Sibthorp's Appearance dispensed with for a Month.

Ordered, That Dr. Sibthorpe hath Leave to be absent for a Month (notwithstanding his Recognizance in this House), and hath Liberty to be present at North'ton Assizes, where there is a Trial against him upon an Indictment. In the mean Time, all Petitions depending in this House against him are put off for a Month; after which Time the said Dr. Sibthorpe is to return, and attend this House as formerly.

Newport and Carisbrook distinct Parishes Bill.

Hodie 2^a vice lecta est Billa, An Act for making the Town and Borough of Newport, in the Isle of Wight, a distinct Parish from Carisbrooke, and the Chapel of St. Thomas there to be a Parish Church.

Westminster Hall appointed for the E. of Strafford's Trial.

The Lord Great Chamberlain and the Lord Chamberlain signified, That His Majesty hath appointed Westminster Hall for the Place of Trial for the Earl of Strafford.

E. Marshal's claim of Service at the Trial.

Memorandum, The Earl Marshal desired to put in his Claim of Earl Marshal, for the Service of the Day of Trial of Earl of Strafford.

Day of Trial fixed.

Ordered, That the Day of Trial for the Earl of Strafford shall be on Monday Morning next, at Nine a Clock, in Westminster Hall; and the Earl of Strafforde to have Notice of it, and the Lieutenant of The Tower Ordered to bring him in safe Custody.

Committee for Judicature to make the necessary Preparations for the Trial.

Ordered, That the Lords Committees appointed to consider of the Judicature of Peers are to meet Tomorrow in the Afternoon, to consider of a Lord Steward, and generally to fit and prepare all Things requisite against the Day of Trial of the Earl of Strafford.

Ordered, That the Lord Great Chamberlain be added to the Committee of Judicature.

Protestation of the Great Council at York, touching the levying Monies in Yorkshire.

Whereas the Lords of the Great Council at Yorke, to clear their Honours only, have made their Protestation, That they did neither command nor approve the raising of Monies in Yorkeshire, as is alledged by the Earl of Strafford, in his Answer to the 27th Article of the Commons; now the said Protestation is by this House unanimously admitted; and it is likewise Ordered, That so much may be intimated to the Committee of the House of Commons, at the next Conference.

A Message was sent to the House of Commons, by Mr. Attorney General and Dr. Bennett:

Message to the H. C. about the Trial of the E. of Strafford.

To desire a Conference, by the same Committee as formerly, concerning the Time and other Circumstances touching the Trial of the Earl of Strafforde.

The Protestation of the Lords of the Council at York to be communicated to the Commons at the Conference.

The Earl of Bath, the Earl of Essex, and the Earl of Bristoll, were appointed to deliver, at the Conference, the Effect of the Lords Protestation; and to let them know that this House hath Ordered (with the Consent of His Majesty) Westm. Hall to be the Place for Trial, and Monday next the Day for the Trial, against which Time Care is taken that all Things shall be prepared and made ready; and that the Lords will be pleased to give Notice of the Time appointed to the Earl of Strafforde, that he attend accordingly; and further, that a Warrant is to be directed to the Lieutenant of The Tower, to bring the Earl of Strafford to the Place aforesaid.

Committee concerning the Star chamber.

The Committee for the Star-chamber is deferred until after the Trial of the Earl of Strafford.
