King's Answer to Address.

The Lord Chancellor reported, "That the House did Yesterday present their Address to His Majesty; to which His Majesty was pleased to return the following most Gracious Answer:

My Lords,

"I thank you for this affectionate and loyal Address. The Satisfaction which you have unanimously expressed in the Measures I have taken, is particularly agreeable to Me; you may depend that, both in War and in Peace My constant Objects shall be the Honour of My Crown, and the Advancement of the Interests of My People."

Ordered, That the said Address, together with His Majesty's most Gracious Answer thereto, be forthwith printed and published.

Remainder of Hastings' Answer to Articles of Impeachment read:

The Order of the Day for the further Reading of the Answer of Warren Hastings Esquire, to the Articles of Impeachment exhibited against him by the House of Commons, being read:

He was called in, and kneeling at the Bar till he was bid to rise, the Remainder of the said Answer was read.

And he being asked, "If it was the Answer he meant to abide by?" said, "It was." Being asked, "If he had any Thing to offer beyond it?" he said, "He had not."

He was directed to withdraw.

Copy of Answer to be sent to H. C.

Ordered, That a Copy of the said Answer, examined by the Clerk, be sent by Message to the House of Commons.

Ordered, That when a Copy of the said Answer shall have been delivered to the Commons, the said Answer be printed for the Use of the House.

Convention between His Majesty and the Most Christian King. &c. delivered.

The Lord Osborne (by His Majesty's Command) presented to the House,

No. 1. "Copy of the Convention between His Majesty and the Most Christian King, signed at Versailles, the 31st of August 1787.—And Translation."

2. "Copy of the Treaty between His Majesty and the Landgrave of Hesse Cassel, signed at Cassel, the 28th September 1787.—And Translation."

3. "Copy of the Declaration signed at Versailles, the 27th October 1787, by the Duke of Dorset and Mr. Eden.—And Translation."

4. "Copy of the Counter Declaration signed at the same Time, by the Count de Montmorin.—And Translation."

5. "Copy of the Joint Declaration signed at the same Time.—And Translation."

And the Titles thereof being read by the Clerk:

Ordered, That the said Copies do lie on the Table.
