After hearing Counsel as well Yesterday as this Day, upon the amended Petition and Appeal of James Hill Writer in Glasgow, Trustee upon the sequestrated Estate of Wilson and Brown of Glasgow Merchants, complaining of Two Interlocutors of the Lords of Session in Scotland of the 25th of January and 26th of February 1785; and praying, "That the same might be reversed, varied, or altered, or that the Appellant might have such other Relief in the Premises as to this House, in their Lordships' great Wisdom, should seem meet;" as also upon the Answer of George Buchanan of Glasgow, and John Buchanan of Greenock Merchants, put in to the said Appeal, and due Consideration had of what was offered on either Side in this Cause:

Interlocutors affirmed.

It is Ordered and Adjudged, by the Lords Spiritual and Temporal in Parliament assembled, That the said Petition and Appeal be and is hereby dismissed this House, and that the said Interlocutors therein complained of be and the same are hereby affirmed.

York Buildings Co. against L.Elphinstone.

After hearing Counsel in Part in the Cause, wherein the Governor and Company of Undertakers for raising Thames Water in York Buildings are Appellants, and John Lord Elphinstone is Respondent:

It is Ordered, That the further Hearing of the said Cause be put off till To-morrow; and that the Cause which stands for To-Morrow be put off to the First Cause Day after the Recess at Easter; and that the rest of the Causes on Cause Days be removed in Course.

Bills passed by Commission.

The Lord Chancellor acquainted the House, "That His Majesty had been pleased to issue a Commission to several Lords therein named, for declaring His Royal Assent to several Acts agreed upon by both Houses of Parliament."

The House was adjourned during Pleasure.

Then Three of the Lords Commissioners being in their Robes, and seated on a Form placed between the Throne and the Woolsack, the Lord Chancellor in the Middle, with the Lord Privy Seal on his Right Hand, and the Lord Sydney on his Left, commanded the Yeoman Usher of the Black Rod to signify to the Commons, "The Lords Commissioners desire their immediate Attendance in this House to hear the Commission read."

"An Act for the more easy and speedy Recovery of small Debts within the Town and Borough of Deal, and the Parishes of Ripple, Sutton, Northbourne, Great Mongeham, Little Mongeham, Tilmanstone, Betshanger, Ham and Sholden, in the County of Kent." This Day Aubrey Lord Vere took the Oaths, and made and subscribed the Declaration; and also took and subscribed the Oath of Abjuration, pursuant to the Statutes.

Westbury Poor Bill.

The Lord Scarsdale reported from the Committee to whom the Bill, intituled, "An Act for the Appointment of an additional Overseer for the better Government of the Poor of the Parish of Westbury, in the County of Wilts," was committed: "That they had considered the said Bill, and examined the Allegations thereof, which were found to be true, and that the Committee had gone through the Bill, and directed him to report the same to the House, without any Amendment."

Bishopp's Bill.

A Message was brought from the House of Commons, by Mr. Yorke and others:

To return the Bill, intituled, "An Act for vesting Part of the devised Estate of Robert Bishopp deceased, in the County of Surrey, in Trustees, to be sold; and for laying out the Money arising from the Sale in the Purchase of another Estate to be settled to the same Uses;" and to acquaint this House, That they have agreed to the same, without any Amendment.

Chatteris Ferry Roads Bill.

A Message was brought from the House of Commons, by Mr. Yorke and others:

With a Bill, intituled, "An Act to enlarge the Term and Powers of Two Acts made in the Fifth and Seventh Years of His present Majesty, for repairing certain Roads therein mentioned, leading from Chatteris Ferry to the Town of Wisbech Saint Peter's in the Isle of Ely, and other Places in the said Acts mentioned;" to which they desire the Concurrence of this House.

Bawtry Roads Bill.

A Message was brought from the House of Commons, by Mr. Harris and others:

With a Bill, intituled, "An Act for enlarging the Term and Powers of so much of an Act passed in the Fifth Year of the Reign of His present Majesty King George the Third, intituled, "An Act for repairing and widening the Roads from Bawtry Bridge, in the County of Nottingham, to Hainton, in the County of Lincoln, and from North Willingham to the North End of the Lane betwixt Dexthorpe and Langton, and from West Raisin to Pilford Bridge, and from the Great Road near Bishop Bridge to Bishop Norton Common, and from the Hamlet of Morton to Epworth, and from Haxey Field to the Trent at Kinnald Ferry, in the said County of Lincoln," as relates to the First and Second Districts of Roads therein described;" to which they desire the Concurrence of this House.

The said Two Bills were, severally, read the First Time.

L. Carteret's Exchange Bill.

Walker against Fletcher.

Upon reading the Petition of Mrs. Jane Fletcher, otherwise Gordon, Respondent in a Cause depending in this House, to which William Walker Esquire, is Appellant; setting forth, "That this Appeal is taken from a Decree of the Court of Session, appointing the Appellant to pay a certain Sum to the Respondent for her Aliment and Subsistence, and while it depends she is absolutely destitute: In such Circumstances she hopes that their Lordships will order the Cause to be heard on an early Day;" and therefore praying, "Their Lordships will be pleased to appoint this Cause to be heard on Wednesday the 3d Day of May next, or on such other Day as their Lordships shall think proper, the Agent for the Appellant having signed the said Petition, as consenting thereto:"
