Upon reading the Petition and Appeal of Sir William Dalrymple of Coustand Baronet, complaining of Four Interlocutors of the Lords of Session in Scotland, of the IDT and 5th of July 1768, and 3d and 11th of March last; and praying, That the same may be reversed, varied, or altered, or that the Appellant may nave such Relief in the Premises, as to this House, in their Lordships great Wisdom, shall seem meet; and that Archibald Campbell may be required to answer the said Appeal:

Canale for a Bill for his Naturalization, and to take the Name of Thorold.
Upon reading the Petition of Thomas Goodacre, surviving Trustee under the Will of Sir Nathaniel Thorold, late of Harmston, in the County of Lincoln Baronet deceased, and of Samuel Canale Esquire, and William Durance Clerk Guardian of the said Samuel Canale, a Minor of the Age of Nineteen Years and upwards setting forth, That the Petitioner Samuel Canale was born out of His Majesty's Allegiance, but professeth the Protestant Religion, and hath given Testimony of his Loyalty and Fidelity to His Majesty, and the Good of this Kingdom; that the said Sir Na, aniel Thorold, by his Will, and a Codicil the annexed, gave several estates therein mention to the Petitioner Thomas Goodacre, and One Rot Drewry since deceased, upon Trust, that they should (if necessary) join with the Petitioner Samuel Canale in an Application to Parliament, in order to obtain an Act for naturalizing the Petitioner Samuel Canale, and enabling him to take upon him and use the Surname of Thorold only, instead of Canale, and to use the Arms of the said Sir Nathaniel Thorold; and upon further Trust, that, as soon as conveniently may be after the Petitioner Samuel Canale shall have been so naturalized, and by Act of Parliament taken upon him the Surname of Thorold only, to settle and assure certain estates in the said Will particularly mentioned to the Use of the Petitioner Samuel Canale for his Life; and, upon certain Conditions therein expressed, Remainder to his First and other Sons, with divers Remainders over; that the Petitioner, Samuel Canale, in Compliance with the said Will, is desirous to take and use the Surname of Thorold only, and to use the Arms of Sir Nathaniel Thorold deceased, and that the same may be confirmed to him and his Issue, by Authority of Parliament; andtherefore praying, That Leave may be given to bring in a Bill for naturalizing the Petitioner Samuel Canale, and for enabling him and his Issue to take and use the Surname of Thorold only, and to use the Arms of the said Sir Nathaniel Thorold deceased:

Report on the Standing Order respecting Money for Purchases being lodged in the Bank.
The Lord Delamer reported from the Lords Committees appointed to consider of so much of the Standing Order, No. I26, which directs the Money arising by the Sale of Lands, as is to be laid out in a new Purchase, when no such Purchase is ready, to be paid into the Bank of England in the Name of the Accountant General of the Court of Chancery, to remain there without Interest, until a proper Purchase can be got and approved of:
That they had met and considered the Matter to them referred, and are of Opinion, that the following Amendment should be made to the said Order; (videlicet),
At the End of the said Order, after the Word [ direct], to insert [ and that in the mean Time, and until such Purchase or Purchases can be had and completed, the Accountant General shall, by Order of the said Court of Chancery, place out so much of the Money arising by the Sale of the Premises directed to be sold, as is to be again laid out in Land, or any Part thereof, in the Purchase of Three Pounds per Centum Consolidated Bank Annuities, and from Time to Time pay and apply the Interest and Dividends, and Annual Produce thereof, to such Person or Persons as would be entitled to the Rents and Profits of the Manors, Lands, or Hereditaments, directed to be purchased in case the same were purchased and settled pursuant to the Act.]

The Lord Delamer reported from the Lords Committees, to whom the Bill, intituled, An Act for vesting Part of the Settled Estates of the Reverend Thomas Whitehurst Clerk and Sarah his Wife, in the Counties of Hertford and Bedford, in the said Thomas Whitehurst, in Fee Simple, and for settling other Estates of the said Thomas Whitehurst, in the said County of Hertford, to the same Uses as the said Estates were settled, was committed: That they had considered the said Bill, and examined the Allegations thereof, which were found to be true; that the Parties concerned had given their Consents to the Satisfaction of the Committee; and that the Committee had gone through the Bill, and directed him to report the same to the House, without any Amendment.

The Lord Sandys reported from the Lords Committees, to whom the Bill, intituled, An Act for confirming and carrying into Execution certain Agreements entered into between William Hurst, William Powell, Esquires, and others, for raising Money out of the Estates late of Thomas Herbert Esquire, in the Counties of Glamorgan and Monmouth, for Payment of the Debts and Legacies of Lucy Allen, and for other Purposes, and for settling the Residue of the said Estates, to the Uses of her Will, was committed: That they had considered the said Bill, and examined the Allegations thereof, which were found to be true; that the Parties concerned had given their Consents to the Satisfaction of the Committee; and that the Committee had gone through the Bill, and made some Amendments thereto; which Amendments, being read Twice by the Clerk, were agreed to by the House.
Ordered, That the said Bill, with the Amendments, be engrossed.
Knuston Enclosure Bill; the King's Consent signified to it.
The Lord Privy Seal acquainted the House, That His Majesty having been informed of the Contents of the Bill, intituled, An Act for dividing and enclosing the Open Fields, and other Commonable Lands and Grounds, in the Hamlet of Knuston, in the Parish of Irchester, in the County of Northampton was pleased to consent (as far as His Majesty's Interest is concerned) that their Lordships may proceed therein as they shall think fit.
