A Petition of Sir William Moncrieffe Baronet, Respondent in a Cause depending in this House, wherein Alexander Blair and others are Appellants, which Appeal stands appointed to be heard the last but Three upon the List, was presented, and read; setting forth, That, in the Beginning of the present Session, the said Cause was appointed to be heard the Second After the Causes which stood appointed last Session; but afterwards, on Petition of the Appellant (suggesting that Papers were wanted from Scotland), the Hearing was put off till After the Causes then appointed; this was acquiesced in by the Petitioner, because the Appellants Agent mentioned an Intention of withdrawing his Appeal, and because the Respondent only desired that the Cause should be determined in the present Session, which, in the then State of the Causes, seemed next to a Certainty; but now the Session is so far advanced, and (by Intervention of publick Business) the Cause shall so low in the List, that there is but little, if any, Prospect of its being heard in its Course this Session; and as, since Notice given for this Petition, the Appellants Agent has again repeated an Intention of withdrawing the Appeal; (fn. 1) therefore praying, That this Appeal may be set down to be heard on such Bye-day as to the House shall seem meet.
And thereupon the Agent for the Petitioner was called in, and heard at the Bar.
And being withdrawn:
Ordered, That this House will hear the said Cause, by Counsel, at the Bar, on Tuesday next.

The Earl Gower reported from the Lords Committees whom the Bill, intituled, An Act for making a Navigable Cut, or Canal, from the River Trent, at or near Wilden Ferry in the County of Derby, to the River Mersey, at or near Runcorn Gap, was committee That they had considered the said Bill, and examined the Allegations thereof, which were found to be true; and that the Committee had gone through the Bill, and directed him to report the same to the House, without any Amendment.

After hearing Counsel, upon the amended Petition and Appeal of Alexander Burnet Esquire; complaining of an Interlocutor of the Lords of Session in Scotland, of the 14th of December 1764; and praying. That the same might be reversed or varied, or that the Appellant might have such Relief in the Premises as to this House in their Lordships great Wisdom and Justice should seem meet:As also upon the Answer of Sir Thomas Burnet of Leys Baronet put in to the said Appeal; and due Consideration had of what was offered on either Side in this Cause:

The Lord Botetourt reported from the Lords Committees to whom the Bill, intituled, An Act for Sale of the Manor, Capital Messuage, and late dissolved Priory, of Ryegate, in the County of Surrey; and also of several Freehold and Copyhold Lands, Tenements, and Hereditaments, in the Counties of Surrey and Surrey, late the Estate of Sarah Parsons Widow, deceased, for failing Money, to discharge Encumbrances affecting the same, was committed: That they had considered the said Bill, and examined the Allegations thereof, which were found, to be true; that the Parties Concerned had given their Consents, to the Satisfaction of the Committee; and that the Committee had gone through the Bill, and directed him to report the same to the House, without any Amendment.
Ordered, That the said Bill be engrafted.
