The King's Letter to the E. of Bristol, read.
THE Earl of Carlile delivered in the Copy of the King's Letter, read here 30 Martii, directed unto the Earl of Bristol, which was now also read; and the Lord President affirmed it did agree with the Original; it is entered now on the said 30th Day of March 1626.
Delinquents, after the Dissolution, to be discharged by Ld. Keeper, or punished.
It is Ordered, That divers being sent for (by Order of this House 12 Junii), for Breach of Privilege of Parliament towards the Earl of Lincoln's Men, that the Lord Keeper may free them when they come, or punish them, if his Lordship shall see Cause.
Clerk and his Assistants to be rewarded for their Pains, etc.
It is this Day Ordered by the Lords Spiritual and Temporal in this High Court of Parliament assembled, That every Earl shall give to the Clerk Forty Shillings, every Viscount Thirty Shillings, and every Bishop and Baron Twenty Shillings, as well those that are absent by Proxy as they that are present, in respect of his Pains in this and former Parliaments. And it is further Ordered, That every Lord of Parliament, as well they that are absent by Proxy as they that are present, shall pay the Clerk's Two Men Ten Shillings between them also, in respect of their Pains.
Gentleman Usher to be rewarded also.
And also each Lord is to give unto the Gentleman Usher in like Manner as to the Clerk.
Ld. Keeper acquaints the House, that he has a Commission to dissolve the Parliament.
The Lord Keeper signified unto the House, That he hath received His Majesty's Commission to dissolve the Parliament; whereupon the House was moved humbly to desire His Majesty to continue the same; and these Lords were appointed to draw up a Petition to that Purpose: videlicet,

Who presently withdrew themselves; and being returned, they reported the same Petition, which was read Twice, and allowed of generally; which followeth, in hæc verba: videlicet,
The Lords Petition to continue the Parliament.
"May it please Your Most Excellent Majesty,
"We (fn. 1) Your Majesty's humble and faithful Subjects, the Peers of this Kingdom, having received this Morning a Message from Your Majesty, intimating an Intention to dissolve the Parliament; remembering that we are Hereditarily Your Majesty's great Council of this Kingdom, do conceive that we cannot deserve Your Majesty's Gracious Opinion expressed in this Message unto us, nor discharge our Duty to God, Your Majesty, and our Country, if, after the Expression of our great and universal Sorrow, we did not wholly offer our faithful and loyal Advice, to continue this Parliament, by which those great and apparent Dangers both at Home and Abroad, and signified unto us by Your Majesty's Command, may be prevented, and Your Majesty's made happy in the Duly and Love of Your People, which we hold the greatest Safety and Security of a King; for the effecting whereof our humble and faithful Endeavours shall never be wanting."

Notwithstanding, the Gentleman Usher was sent to the Commons; and they being come, with their Speaker, the Lord Keeper delivered the said Commission to the Clerk, for the Dissolution of the Parliament, who read the same, in hæc verba: videlicet,

"Cum nuper, pro quibusdam arduis et urgentibus Negotiis, Nos, Statum et Defensionem Regni Nostri Angliæ et Ecclesiæ Anglicanæ concernentibus præsens hoc Parliamentum Nostrum, apud Civitatem Nostram Westm. sexto die Februarii, Anno Regni Nostri Primoinchoari et teneri ordinaverimus; a quo die idem Parliamentum Nostrum usque ad et in instantem decimum quintum diem Junii continuatum fuerat: Sciatis, quod Nos, pro certis urgentibus Cause et Considerationibus Nos specialiter moventibus, idem Parliamentum Nostrum, hoc instante decimo quinto die Junii duximus dissolvendum. De Fidelitate igitur, Prudentia, et Circumspectione, vestris plurimum confidentes, de Avisamento et Assensu Concilii Nostri, assignavimus vos Commissionarios Nostros; dantes vobis et aliquibus tribus vel pluribus vestrum, tenore præsentium plenam Potestatem et Auctoritatem, hoc instante decimo quinto die Junii, ad dictum Parliamentum Nostrum Nomine Nostro, pleanarie dissolvendum: Et ideo vobis mandamus, quod vos, vel aliqui tres vel plures vestrum, idem Parliamentum Nostrum, hoc instante decimo quinto die Junii, virtute harum Literarum Nostrarum Patentium, Nomine Nostro, plenarie dissolvatis et determinetis: Et ideo vobis mandamus, quod circa præmissa diligenter intendatis, ac ea in forma prædicta effectualiter expleatis et exequamini. Damus autem universis et singulis Archiepiscopis Ducibus, Marchionibus, Comitibus, Vicecomitibus, Episcopis, Earonibus, Militibus, Civibus, et Burgesses, ac omnibus aliis quorum interess ad dictum Parliamentum Nostrum conventuris, tenore præsentium, firmiter in Mandatis, quod vobis, in præmissis faciendis, agenciis, et exequendis, pareant, obediant, et intendant in omnibus, prout decet. In cujus Rei Testimonium Literas Nostras fieri fecimus Patenses. Teste Meipso, apud Westm. decimo quinto die Junii, Anno Regri Nostri Secundo.
