Earl of Mulgrave introduced.

Edmund Lord Sheffeild, created this Parliament Earl of Mulgrave, was brought into the House, in his Parliament Robes, between the Earls of Salisbury and Mountgomery (Garter going before); and, having presented the Patent of his Creation unto the Lord Keeper, and he delivered it to the Clerk, was brought to his Seat, next to the Earl of Cleveland.

Lord Vere introduced.

Horace Lord Vere of Tilbury, was this Day also brought into the House, in the same Manner, between the Lord North and the Lord Denny, and placed next to the Lord Roberts of Truro.

Lowe's Bill to sell Lands.

The Lord President reported the Bill exhibited by Vincent Lowe, to sell Part of his Lands, fit to pass, with some Amendments, and One Addition, to assure the Residue unsold, to his Son and Heir.

The which Amendments and Addition were Twice read, and allowed of, and the Bill ordered to be ingrossed accordingly.

Petitions.

It is this Day Ordered, That the Lords Committees for Petitions shall offer to the Consideration of the House, what Petitions their Lordships think fit to reject, and their Reason for the same; and then the House to direct therein.

And Mr. Justice Doddridge, To attend the Lords.
Mr. Justice Yelverton,
Mr. Baron Treavor,

Earl of Devon's Privilege, in a Cause

Whereas there is a Suit depending in His Majesty's Court of Common Pleas, between Thomas Harrison, Plaintiff, and Ralph Atkinson, Defendant (who is Ser

Harrison versus Atkinson.

vant to the Right Honourable William Earl of Devon), which Suit brings in Question the Title of the said Earl unto certain Lands and Commons in the County of Darbie, and is to be tried at the next Assizes to be holden for the said County; for that the same concerns the Interest and Inheritance of a Peer of this House (though the Name of a Servant is used as Defendant), and is to the infringing of the Privileges due to a Peer of the Realm, if the said Suit shall proceed during the Time of Parliament; it is therefore Ordered, by the Lords Spiritual and Temporal in this High Court assembled, That the said Trial be stayed; and that the said Thomas Harrison, his Counsellors, Solicitors, and Attornies, do forbear to proceed to the Trial of the said Cause, during the Privilege of Parliament.

Adjourn.

Dominus Custos Magni Sigilli declaravit præsens Parliamentum continuandum esse usque in diem Sabbati proximum, videlicet, 25m diem instantis Februarii, hora nona, Dominis sic decernentibus.
