DIE Veneris, videlicet, 12 die Augusti,
Domini tam Spirituales quam Temporales, quorum nomina subscribuntur, præsentes fuerunt:
Mr. Justice Crooke's Privilege. Pitt discharged.
ROWLAND PITT, who took Mr. Justice Crooke's Horse to ride Post (prout antea 5 Aug.) is this Day, upon his Petition to the House, discharged, paying the ordinary Fees.
Lord Cromwell's Privilege. Culpeper's Arrest.
Richard Culpeper, Gentleman, Servant to the Lord Cromewell, exhibited his Petition; shewing, That he was arrested in Execution, for Three Hundred Thirteen Pounds, Six Shillings, and Eight Pence, at the Suit of William Gallthrop, Brewer, for a Battery, the Plaintiff being alive, without any Maim or Loss of Limb; humbly praying to be released of his Imprisonment, according to the Privilege of Parliament.
The which Petition being read, the Lords referred the same unto the Lord Keeper of the Great Seal, to do therein as unto his Lordship shall seem good.
Message to the House of Commons, to require their Attendance.
The Lord Keeper signified, That he had received His Majesty's Commission, directed unto divers Lords, for Dissolution of the Parliament; whereupon the Gentleman Usher was commanded to signify unto the Speaker of the House of Commons, That their Lordships have received His Majesty's Commission, which is to be read unto both Houses; and do therefore desire the Commons, with their Speaker, to come up presently, and to hear the same read.
Memorandum, That the Lords ought to be in their Robes at the Reading of this Commission; but their Lordships agreed to dispense with that Ceremony at this Time, for that many of their Lordships had not their Robes in Town. And the Sitting of the Commissioners upon Forms overthwart the House (as the Manner is) was also agreed to be dispensed with, for that the House was thin, and most of the Lords then present were in the Commission.
King's Commission delivered to be read.
The Commons, with the Speaker, being come, the Lord Keeper delivered the said Commission to the Clerk of the Parliament, who read the same; and then the Parliament was dissolved accordingly.
The Tenor of the said Commission: videlicet,
"CAROLUS Rex.
