King's Commission delivered to be read.

MEMORANDUM, That whereas the King's Majesty, by His Writs of Summons, bearing Date at Westm. the Thirtieth Day of December last past, appointed His Parliament to open and begin this present Day, being the Twelfth Day of February, in this One and Twentieth Year of His Majesty's Reign, as by the same Writs more plainly appeareth; His Majesty, upon great and weighty Considerations (by Advice of His Privy Council), did prorogue and adjourn this said Parliament until Monday, the Sixteenth Day of this Instant February, by virtue of His Majesty's Writ Patent, signed with His own Hand, and sealed with the Great Seal of England, bearing Date the Eleventh Day of this Instant February: Wherefore the Lords Spiritual and Temporal, being assembled in their Robes, and Prayers being said, the Knights, Citizens, and Burgesses were called in; and then the Right Honourable and Right Reverend Father in God John Lord Bishop of Lincolne, Lord Keeper of the Great Seal of England, delivered unto the Clerk of the Parliament His Majesty's said Writ, and commanded him to read the same; the Tenor of which Writ followeth, in hæc verba:

Commission for the Prorogation.

"Jacobus, Dei Gratia, Angliæ, Scotiæ, Franciæ, et Hiberniæ Rex, Fidei Defensor, &c. Prædilectis et Fidelibus Nostris Prælatis, Magnatibus, et Proceribus Regni Nostri Angliæ, ac Dilectis et Fidelibus Nostris Militibus, Civibus, et Burgensibus dicti Regni Nostri, ad Parliamentum Nostrum, apud Civitatem Nostram Westm. duodecimo die instantis mensis Februarii inchoandum et tenendum, convocatis et electis, et vestrum cuilibet, Salutem.

"Cum Nos, pro quibusdam arduis et urgentibus Negotiis, Nos, Statum et Defensionem dicti Regis Nostri Angliæ et Ecclesiæ Anglicanæ concernentibus, dictum Parliamentum Nostrum, ad diem et locum prædictum, teneri ordinaverimus; ac vobis, per separalia Brevia Nostra, apud Civitatem et diem prædictam, interesse mandaverimus, ad tractandum, consentiendum, et concludendum super hiis, quæ in dicto Parliamento Nostro tunc et ibidem proponerentur et tractarentur: Quibusdam tamen certis de Causis et Considerationibus Nos ad præsens specialiter moventibus, dictum Parliamentum Nostrum usque decimum sextum diem hujus instantis mensis Februarii duximus prorogandum; ita quod nec vos, nec aliquis vestrum, ad dictum duodecimum diem Februarii, apud Civitatem prædictam, comparere teneamini, seu arctemini. Volumus enim vos, et quemlibet vestrum, inde erga Nos penitus exonerari; mandantes, et, tenore præsentium, firmiter injungendo præcipientes, vobis, et cuilibe, vestrum, ac omnibus aliis quibus in hac parte interest, quod ad dictum decimum sextum diem Februarii, apud prædictam Civitatem Westm. personaliter compareatis et intersitis, et quilibet vestrum compareat et intersit, ad tractandum, faciendum, agendum, et concludendum super hiis, quæ in dicto Parliamento Nostro, de communi Concilio dicti Regni Nostri (favente Deo), contigerint ordinari. Teste Meipso, apud Westm. undecimo die Februarii, Anno Regni Nostri Angliæ, Franciæ, et Hiberniæ Vicesimo primo, et Scotiæ Quinquagesimo septimo.

Which Writ being read, the Lord Keeper accordingly declared the Parliament to be prorogued until Monday next, the Sixteenth of this February, at One of the Clock.
