A Message was brought from the House of Commons, by Mr. George Onslow and others:

To return the Bill, intituled, "An Act to enable John Earl of Egmont in the Kingdom of Ireland to raise Money, for purchasing Lands in Great Britain, for the Purposes of his Marriage Settlement, by Mortgage, instead of Sale, of Part of his Irish Estate;" and to acquaint this House, that they have agreed to the same, with One Amendment; to which they desire their Lordships Concurrence.

Ly. Bulkeley's Bill.

A Message was brought from the House of Commons, by Sir John Cust and others:

To return the Bill, intituled, "An Act for carrying into Execution several Contracts, made by or on Behalf of James late Lord Bulkeley in the Kingdom of Ireland, in his Life-time, for the Sale of several Lands and Tenements in the County of Anglesey, and for applying the Purchase-money to discharge Encumbrances affecting the same;" and to acquaint this House, that they have agreed to the same, with One Amendment, whereunto they desire their Lordships Concurrence.

Settle Stinted Pasture, to enclose, Bill.

The Earl of Shaftesbury reported from the Lords Committees to whom the Bill, intituled, "An Act for establishing and confirming Articles of Agreement, for dividing and enclosing Two Stinted Pastures, or Commons, called Settle Banks, High Scarr and Scaleber, within the Township of Settle, in the County of York," was committed: "That they had considered the said Bill, and examined the Allegations thereof, which were found to be true; that the Parties concerned had given their Consents, to the Satisfaction of the Committee; and that the Committee had gone through the Bill, and directed him to report the same to the House, without any Amendment."

Chesterfield Road, Bill.

The Lord Sandys reported from the Lords Committees to whom the Bill, intituled, "An Act to enlarge, alter, and render more effectual, the Term and Powers of an Act of the Twelfth Year of His present Majesty, for repairing the Roads from Bakewell to Chesterfield in the County of Derby, and from Chesterfield to Worksop in the County of Nottingham, and other Roads therein mentioned," was committed: "That they had considered the said Bill, and examined the Allegations thereof, which were found to be true; and that the Committee had gone through the Bill, and directed him to report the same to the House, without any Amendment."

Bristol Workhouses, Bill.

The Lord Willoughby of Parham reported from the Lords Committees to whom the Bill, intituled, "An Act for enlarging the Powers granted by an Act passed in the Eighteenth Year of the Reign of His present Majesty, intituled, "An Act for rendering more effectual the several Acts passed for the erecting of Hospitals and Workhouses within the City of Bristol, for the better employing and maintaining of the Poor thereof," and for making the said Act more effectual," was committed: "That they had considered the said Bill, and examined the Allegations thereof, which were found to be true; and that the Committee had gone through the Bill, and directed him to report the same to the House, without any Amendment."

Skirpenbeck Common, Bill; King's Consent signified.

The Duke of Newcastle acquainted the House, "That His Majesty, having been informed of the Contents of the Bill, intituled, "An Act for dividing and allotting certain Fields, Meadow Grounds, and Common Pastures, in the Manor and Township of Skirpenbeck, in the County of York; and for other Purposes therein mentioned," was pleased to consent (as far as the Interest of the Crown is concerned) that their Lordships may proceed therein as they shall think fit."

Northleigh Common, Bill; King's Consent signified.

The Duke of Newcastle also acquainted the House, That His Majesty, having been informed of the Purport of the Bill, intituled, "An Act for dividing and enclosing certain Open and Common Fields called Northleigh Common Fields, and a Common or Waste called Northleigh Heath, within the Parish or Township of Northleigh, in the County of Oxford," was pleased to consent (as far as the Interest of the Crown is concerned) that their Lordships may proceed therein as they shall think fit."

Gloucester, Bristol, and other Roads, Bill.

A Message was brought from the House of Commons, by Mr. Berkeley and others:

With a Bill, intituled, "An Act for enlarging the Terms and Powers of Two Acts of Parliament, one passed in the Nineteenth Year of the Reign of His present Majesty, intituled, "An Act for enlarging the Term and Powers granted by an Act passed in the Twelfth Year of the Reign of His late Majesty King George the First, for repairing the Road from the City of Gloucester to Stone, and other Roads therein mentioned; and for making the said Act more effectual;" and the other passed in the Twenty-second Year of the Reign of His present Majesty, intituled, "An Act for continuing Two Acts of Parliament, the one passed in the Thirteenth Year of the Reign of His late Majesty King George the First, for amending the several Roads leading from the City of Bristol, and the other passed in the Fourth Year of the Reign of His present Majesty, to explain and amend the same Act; and for making the said Acts more effectual; and also for repairing other Roads therein mentioned;" and for making all the said Acts more effectual; and for repairing, widening, and keeping in Repair, several other Roads;" to which they desire the Concurrence of this House.

Fen Lands in Bedford Level, Draining Bill.

A Message was brought from the House of Commons, by the Lord Royston and others:

With a Bill, intituled, "An Act for draining and preserving certain Fen Lands and Low Grounds, in the Isle of Ely and County of Cambridge, between the Cam otherwise Grant, Ouze, and Mildenhall Rivers, and bounded on the South East by the hard Lands of Isleham, Fordham, Soham, and Wicken; and for empowering the Governor, Bailiffs, and Commonalty, of the Company of Conservators of the Great Level of the Fens, called Bedford Level, to sell certain Lands within the said Limits, commonly called Invested Lands;" to which they desire the Concurrence of this House.

Leeds to Sheffield, Roads Bill.

Hodie 1^a vice lecta est Billa, intituled, "An Act for repairing the Road from Leeds to Sheffield, in the County of York."

His Majesty's Advocate against Hay and Cuthbert.

After hearing Counsel, as well on Friday last as this Day, upon the Petition and Appeal of Robert Dundas of Arniston Esquire, His Majesty's Advocate, for His Majesty's Interest; complaining of Part of an Interlocutor of the Lords of Session in Scotland, of the 9th of March 1756, and of Two Interlocutors of the said Lords, of the 13th of July 1756, and 27th of July 1757; and praying, "That the same might be reversed, or varied; and that the Appellant might have such other Relief in the Premises as to this House shall seem just:" As also upon the joint and several Answer of Jean Hay, Widow of John Cuthbert of Castlehill, and Alexander Cuthbert One of the Children procreate betwixt them, put in to the said Appeal; and due Consideration had of what was offered on either Side in this Cause:

It is Ordered and Adjudged, by the Lords Spiritual and Temporal in Parliament assembled, That the said Two Interlocutors of the 13th of July 1756, and 27th of July 1757, complained of in the said Appeal, be, and the same are hereby, reversed; and that the Respondent's Claim be dismissed.

Causes removed.

Ordered, That the Hearing of the Cause upon the 2d Appeal of His Majesty's Advocate for Scotland, for His Majesty's Interest, to which the said Jean Hay is Respondent, which was appointed to be heard on the same Day with the Cause now determined, be put off till Wednesday next; and that the other Causes be removed in Course.

After reading, and considering, the Report of the Judges to whom was referred Part of the Bill, intituled, "An Act for separating Lawrence Earl Ferrers from Mary Countess Ferrers his Wife, for the Cruelty of the said Earl; and for settling a Maintenance for the said Countess, out of the Estate of the said Earl:

It is Ordered, That the said Report be referred to the Committee of the whole House, to whom the said Bill stands committed.

Ordered, That the House be put into a Committee, to consider further of the said Bill, on Friday next; and the Lords to be summoned.

Madder, Cultivation, Bill.

The Order of the Day being read, for the House to be in a Committee on the Bill, intituled, "An Act to encourage the Growth and Cultivation of Madder, in that Part of Great Britain called England, by ascertaining the Tithe thereof there."

Mr. Edward Wade, William Tuck, Joseph Barchard, Thomas Williamson, George Farmer, Robert Jones, Willoughby Stevens, Edward Broughton, Anthony Brown, George Edwards, John Thorpe, Philip Miller, Edward Farmer, Nicholas Crisp, John Suter, and John Rose, were called in, and sworn at the Bar, in order to be examined before the Committee in relation thereto.

Then the House was adjourned during Pleasure, and put into a Committee on the said Bill.

After some Time, the House was resumed.

And the Lord Willoughby of Parham reported from the Committee, "That they had considered the said Bill, and examined several Witnesses in relation thereto; and that the Committee had gone through the Bill, and made One Amendment thereto; which he was directed to report, when the House will please to receive the same."

Which Amendment was read, by the Clerk, as follows:

"Pr. 1. L. 15 and 16. After ["thereabouts"], insert, ["And whereas the King's most Excellent Majesty is seised, in Right of the Crown of Great Britain, of and in the Perpetual Advowson, Right of Patronage, and Presentation, of, in, and to, the Rectory of the Parish Church of Skirpenbeck aforesaid."]

The Lord Willoughby of Parham (according to Order) reported the Amendment made by the Committee of the whole House to the Bill, intituled, "An Act to encourage the Growth and Cultivation of Madder, in that Part of Great Britain called England, by ascertaining the Tithe thereof there."

Which Amendment was read by the Clerk, as follows:

At the End of the Bill, add Clause (A).

"(A). Provided always, and be it Enacted, by the Authority aforesaid, That this Act shall continue and be in Force for the Space of Fourteen Years, and from thence to the End of the then next Session of Parliament, and no longer."

And the said Amendment, being read a Second Time, was agreed to by the House.

Upton Common, Enclosure Bill.

Hodie 2^a vice lecta est Billa, intituled, "An Act for dividing and enclosing certain Open and Common Fields, in the Hamlet, Township, or Village, of Upton, in the Parish of Blewbury, in the County of Berks."
