Mistake in Mutiny Act to rectify, Bill.

A Message was brought from the House of Commons, by Mr. Thomas Gore and others.

With a Bill, intituled, "An Act to rectify a Mistake in an Act made in this Session of Parliament, for punishing Mutiny and Desertion, and for the better Payment of the Army and their Quarters," to which they desire the Concurrence of this House.

The said Bill was read the First Time.

Message from H C to return Carthew's Bill.

A Message was brought from the House of Commons, by Mr Townshend and others.

To return the Bill, intituled, "An Act for vesting divers Manors, Lands, and Hereditaments, in the County of Suffolk, late the Estate of Thomas Carthew Esquire, deceased, in his Executors, to enable them to convey the same, pursuant to Articles entered into for the Purchase thereof," and to acquaint this House, that they have agreed to the same, without any Amendment.

Upon reading the Petition of Garton Orme Esquire, only Son of Robert Orme Esquire by Dorothea his Wife, both deceased, and of Charlotte Orme Spinster, Daughter and only Child of the said Garton Orme; praying Leave to bring in a Bill, for confirming and establishing certain Agreements in the Petition mentioned, for paying and discharging several Debts of the Petitioner, by Sale of Part of the Premises comprized in a Settlement of the 7th of May 1728, and rendering the said Agreements effectual.

The Lord Ilchester reported from the Lords Committees to whom the Bill, intituled, "An Act for naturalizing Peter Neau," was committed "That they had considered the said Bill, and examined the Allegations thereof, which were found to be true, and that the Committee had gone through the Bill, and directed him to report the same to the House, without any Amendment."

Holton Lands enclosing, Bill.

The same Lord reported from the Lords Committees to whom the Bill, intituled, "An Act for confirming and establishing Agreements, for enclosing and exchanging Lands in Holton, in the County of Lincoln, and for rendering the same more effectual for the Purposes thereby intended," was committed "That they had considered the said Bill, and examined the Allegations thereof, which were found to be true, that the Parties concerned had given their Consents, and that the Committee had gone through the Bill, and directed him to report the same to the House, without any Amendment."

The Earl of Oxford reported from the Lords Committees to whom the Bill, intituled, "An Act for vesting a Moiety of the late Sir George Strode's Estates, in the Counties of Dorset and Somerset, in the Right Honourable Francis Earl Brooke, as the same is now held and enjoyed by him, pursuant to Sir George Strode's Will, and the Partition of the said Estates, made by virtue of a Decree of the Court of Chancery," was committed "That they had considered the said Bill, and examined the Allegations thereof, which were found to be true, that the Parties concerned had given then Consents, and that the Committee had gone through the Bill, and directed him to report the same to the House, without any Amendment."

Ordered, That the said Bill be engrossed.

Workhouses at Bury St. Edmunds, Bill.

The Lord Willoughby of Parham reported from the Lords Committees to whom the Bill, intituled, "An Act for erecting Workhouses, for the better employing and maintaining the Poor, within the Borough of Bury St. Edmunds, in the County of Suffolk, and for the better repairing and paving the Streets and Highways there," was committed "That they had considered the said Bill, and examined the Allegations thereof, which were found to be true, and that the Committee had gone through the Bill, and directed him to report the same to the House, without any Amendment"

Manchester Road, Bill.

The same Lord made the like Report from the Lords Committees to whom the Bill, intituled, "An Act for enlarging the Term and Powers granted by an Act made in the Eighth Year of the Reign of His present Majesty, for repairing the Roads from the Town of Manchester, leading through Newton, Failsworth, and Oldham, in the County Palatine of Lancaster, to Austerlands, in the Parish of Saddleworth, in the County of York, and for making the same more effectual," was committed.

Window Act explaining, Bill.

Hodie 2^a vice lecta est Billa, intituled, "An Act for explaining, amending, and further enforcing, the Execution of an Act passed in the last Session of Parliament, intituled, An Act for repearing the several Rates and Duties upon Houses, Windows, and Lights, and for granting to His Majesty other Rates and Duties upon Houses, Windows, or Lights, and for raising the Sum of Four Millions Four Hundred Thousand Pounds, by Annuities, to be charged on the said Rates of Duties"

Ordered, That the said Bill be committed to a Committee of the whole House, on Thusday Sevennight.

Keck's Bill.

Hodie 2^a vice lecta est Billa, intituled, "An Act for repealing of Part, and for explaining and amending other Parts, of an Act passed in the Eighteenth Year of the Reign of His present Majesty, intituled, An Act for charging, selling, and applying, Part of the settled Estate of Anthony Keck Esquire, for raising Money, towards the Purchase of the Manors of Dalby and Broughton, in the County of Leicester, contracted for pursuant to the Will of Anthony Keck his Grandfather, and for other Purposes therein mentioned"

Ordered, That the said Bill be committed to the Consideration of the Lords following, (videlicet,)

Message from H C to return Weddell's Bill.

A Message was brought from the House of Commons, by Mr. Frankland and others:

To return the Bill, intituled, "An Act to enable Richard Weddell Esquire (lately called Richard Elcock) and his Issue to take and bear the Surname and Arms of Weddell, pursuant to to the Will of Thomas Weddell Esquire, deceased, and for empowering the said Richard Weddell, and those in Remainder after him, to make Leases of the Estates devised to him and them by the said Will," and to acquaint this House, that they have agreed to the same, without any Amendment.

Countess Kildare & al. against Burton & al.

The House being informed, "That a Person attended, in order to deliver in several Copies of Papers, Pleadings, and Proceedings, in the Cause wherein Mary Countess of Kildare and others are Appellants, and Robert Burton Esquire and others Respondents"

Pleadings proved.

He was called in, and delivered the same at the Bar, and attested upon Oath, "That same were true Copies, he having examined them with the Originals in the proper Offices in Ireland"

And then he was directed to withdraw.

The House (according [to Order]) was adjourned during Pleasure, and put into a Committee upon the Bill, intituled, "An Act for further regulating the Proccedings upon Courts Maritial in the Sea Service, and for extending the Discipline of the Navy to the Crews of His Majesty's Ships wrecked, lost, or taken, and for continuing to them then Wages, upon certain Conditions" (fn. 1)

After some Time, the House was resumed.

And the Earl of Warwick reported from the said Committee, "That they had gone through the Bill, and directed him to report the same to the House, without any Amendment"

Mutiny Act to amend, Bill.

The like Proceeding was had, upon the Bill, intituled, An Act to rectify a Mistake in an Act made in this Session of Parliament, intituled, An Act for punishing Mutiny and Defertion, and for the better Payment of the Army and their Quarters"

And the same Report was made.
