Upon reading the Petition of Gwyn Vaughan Esquire; praying, "That the Protection of this House may be granted to one John Harper, he being a material Witness upon the Bill to enable the Petitioner to grant Leases; a Copy of the said Bill being referred by this House to the Judges:"

Inhabitants in West Riding of York, Petition to be exampted from Tolls laid by Wakefield Road Bill:

Upon reading the Petition of the Gentlemen, Freeholders, Farmers, and divers Inhabitants, in Behalf of themselves and all other Inhabitants of the several Townships of Warmfield, Heath, Altofts, Sharlestone, Pontefract, Houghton, Purston, Jaglin, Normanton, and Castleforth, all in the West Riding of the County of York; praying, "They may be exempted from the Payment of all Tolls and Duties to be laid by the Bill depending in this House, for repairing the Roads from Wakefield to Pontefract, in the said County:"

It is Ordered, That the said Petition do lie on the Table till the Report from the Committee to whom the said Bill stands committed, is received.

Petition of other Inhabitants to the like Purposes.

Upon reading the Petition of the Gentlemen, Freeholders, Farmers, and divers Inhabitants, in Behalf of themselves and all other the Inhabitants of Snaith, Rawcliffe, Armine, Cowick, Hook, Gool, Swinfleet, Reedness, Whitgift, Ousefleet, and Adlingfleet, in the West Riding of the County of York; praying likewise an Exemption from the Payment of Tolls; or, "That no Turnpike may be placed on the Road within Pontefract, or between that Town and Weeland:"

E. Arran's Bill:

Motion to shorten Committee.

Waterbeach Level, Bill.

The Earl of Oxford reported from the Lords Committees to whom the Bill, intituled, "An Act for the effectual Draining and Preservation of Waterbeach Level, in the County of Cambridge; and to establish an Agreement made between the Lord of the Manor of Waterbeach cum Denny, and the Commoners within the said Manor," was committed: "That they had considered the said Bill, and examined the Allegations thereof, which they found to be true; that the Parties concerned had given their Consents; and that the Committee had gone through the Bill, and directed him to report the same to the House, without any Amendment."

Persia Trade, Bill.

The Order of the Day being read, for receiving the Reports from the several Committees to whom the Bills relating to Turnpikes were committed:

Horseley Upright Gate Road, Bill.

The Earl of Findlater accordingly reported from the Committee to whom the Bill, intituled, "An Act for enlarging the Term and Powers granted by an Act passed in the Twelfth Year of the Reign of His late Majesty King George the First, intituled, "An Act for repairing and widening the Road from Horseley Upright Gate, leading down Bowden Hill, in the County of Wilts, to the Top of Kingsdown Hill, in the Parish of Box, in the said County," was committed: "That they had considered the said Bill, and examined the Allegations thereof, which they found to be true; and that the Committee had gone through the Bill, and directed him to report the same to the House, without any Amendment."

Then it was moved, "To insert in the said Bill, after the Words ["Trustees appointed, or to be appointed, to put the said former and this present Act into Execution,"] these Words, videlicet, ["and the most Noble Charles Duke of Somerset"]."

The Duke of Leeds made the like Report from the Lords Committees to whom the Bill, intituled, "An Act to enlarge the Term and Powers granted by Three several Acts, made in the Ninth and Twelfth Years of the Reign of Her late Majesty Queen Anne, and in the Thirteenth Year of the Reign of His late Majesty King George the First, for amending the Highways leading from Royston, in the County of Hertford, to Wandsford Bridge, in the County of Huntingdon, so far as the same relate to the Roads lying in the Middle and South Divisions of the said Highways," was committed.

Chatteries Ferry Road, Bill.

The Earl of Findlater made the like Report from the Lords Committees to whom the Bill, intituled, "An Act to enlarge the Terms and Powers granted by an Act, made in the First Year of His present Majesty's Reign, intituled, An Act for repairing the Road leading from Chatteris Ferry (which divides the Isle of Ely from the County of Huntingdon) to Hammonds Eau, and from thence to Somersham Bridge, at Somersham Town's End, in the said County," was committed.

Tunbridge Wells, &c. Road, Bill.

His Lordship also reported from the Committee to whom the Bill, intituled, "An Act for enlarging the Terms and Powers granted by Two Acts of Parliament, for repairing the Roads leading from Sevenoaks to Woodsgate and Tunbridge Wells, and from Woodsgate to Kippings Cross, in the County of Kent; and also for repairing the Roads from Kippings Cross aforesaid, to Lamberhurst Pound and Pullens Hill, in the said County, and to Flimwell Vent, in the County of Sussex," was committed: "That they had considered the said Bill, and examined the Allegations thereof, which they found to be true; and that the Committee had gone through the Bill, and made One Amendment thereunto; which was read by the Clerk, and is as follows; (videlicet,)

Then the said Amendment, being read a Second Time, was disagreed to by the House.

Kensington Road, Bill.

The Earl of Warwick, reported to the same Effect, from the Lords Committees to whom the Bill, intituled, "An Act for enlarging the Term and Powers granted by an Act, made in the Twelfth Year of the Reign of His late Majesty King George the First, intituled, An Act for repairing the Roads, in the Parishes of Kensington, Chelsea, and Fulham, and other Parishes therein mentioned, in the County of Middlesex; and for repairing some other Roads, in the Parish of Saint George, Hanover Square, and the said Parishes of Kensington and Chelsea," was committed.

And the Amendment made by the said Committee was read, as follows:

The Duke of Leeds reported from the Lords Committees to whom the Bill, intituled, "An Act for repairing the Road from Wakefield to Pontcfract, and from thence to a Place called Weeland, in the Township of Hensall; and from Pontefract to Wentbridge, in the Township of Darrington, in the West Riding of the County of York," was committed: "That they had considered the said Bill, and examined the Allegations thereof, which they found to be true; and that the Committee had gone through the Bill, and directed him to report the same to the House, without any Amendment."

And it being moved, "That the said Bill be recommitted."

E. Arran's Bill, Committee shortened.

The Order of the Day being read, for taking into Consideration the Motion made on Thursday last, for dispensing with the Standing Order of this House in relation to the Commitment of Private Bills, so far as that the Committee to whom the Bill, intituled, "An Act for enabling the Right Honourable Charles Earl of Arran to raise Money, by Sale or Mortgage of Part of his Estate in the Kingdom of Ireland, for Payment of Debts, and for other Purposes," was committed, may meet on a sooner Day than was at first appointed:

Ordered, That the said Standing Order be so far dispensed with in this Case, as that the said Committee may meet upon the Consideration of the said Bill Tomorrow Sevennight.

The Lord Bishop of Norwich reported from the Lords Committees to whom the Bill, intituled, "An Act for vesting Part of the Estate of Francis Pemberton Esquire, in the County of Cambridge, in Trustees, to be sold, for discharging the Encumbrances thereon; and settling another Part of his Estate to the Uses, and for the Purposes, of his Marriage Settlement," was committed: "That they had considered the said Bill, and examined the Allegations thereof, which they found to be true; that the Parties concerned had given their Consents; and that the Committee had gone through the Bill, and made some Amendments thereunto."

Ordered, That the Commissioners of the Customs do lay before this House, an Account of what Quantities of Woollen Manufactures have been exported to Turkey, from Christmas 1720, to Christmas 1740; and the Value thereof; distinguishing each Year.

Also, an Account of what Quantity of Raw Silk has been imported from Turkey, from Christmas 1720, to Christmas 1740; distinguishing each Year.

And also, an Account of what Quantity of Raw Silk has been imported from all Countries (exclusive of Turkey) from Christmas 1720, to Christmas 1740; distinguishing each Year.

D. Beaufort and D. Portland's Bill.

The Earl of Oxford reported from the Lords Committees to whom the Bill, intituled, "An Act for establishing and confirming a Partition, agreed to be made, between Henry Duke of Beaufort and William Duke of Portland, of the several Manors, Messuages, Lands, Tenements, and Hereditaments, in the Counties of Southampton and Wilts, whereof they are seised as Tenants in Common; and for settling their specific Shares and Allotments to such Uses as their undivided Moieties thereof now stand limited; and for other Purposes therein mentioned," was committed: "That they had considered the said Bill, and examined the Allegations thereof, which they found to be true; that the Parties concerned had given their Consents; and that the Committee had gone through the Bill, and made some Amendments thereunto."

Which, being read Twice by the Clerk, were agreed to by the House.

Visc. Garnock's Bill.

The Earl of Findlater made the like Report from the Lords Committees to whom the Bill, intituled, "An Act to enable George Viscount of Garnock to sell Lands, in the Counties of Dunbarton and Air, for Payment of Debts charged thereupon; and to purchase other Lands, to be settled to the same Uses as the Estate to be sold is settled," was committed.

Aldgate Church to re-build, Bill.

With a Bill, intituled, "An Act to enable the Parishioners of the Parish of Saint Botolph without Aldgate, in the City of London and County of Middlesex, to re-build the Church of the said Parish;" to which they desire the Concurrence of this House.

Doncaster to Tadcaster, Road Bill.

The Earl of Malton reported from the Lords Committees to whom the Bill, intituled, "An Act for repairing the Roads from Doncaster, through Ferrybridge, to the South Side of Tadcaster Cross; and also from Ferry-bridge to Wetherby, and from thence to Borough Bridge, in the County of York," was committed: "That they had considered the said Bill, and examined the Allegations thereof, which they found to be true; and that the Committee had gone through the Bill, and directed him to report the same to the House, without any Amendment."

E. Ross against Worsop & al.

After hearing Counsel, as well Yesterday as this Day, upon the Petition and Appeal of Richard Earl of Ross in the Kingdom of Ireland; complaining of a Decree of the Court of Exchequer in that Kingdom, of the 2d Day of July last, made in certain Causes, wherein Elizabeth Worsop, otherwise Wood, Widow, Worsop Bush, and Noah Webb Esquires, by Bill of Revivor and Supplemental Bill, were Plaintiffs, and the Appellant Defendant; and wherein the same Persons, by Original Bill, were Plaintiffs, and the Apellant likewise was Defendant; and praying, "That the said Decree might be reversed; and that the said several Bills against him and his late Father Richard late Lord Ross, deceased, in the said Court of Exchequer, might be dismissed, with Costs:" As also upon the Answer of the said Elizabeth Worsop, otherwise Wood, Worsop Bush, and Noah Webb, put in to the said Appeal; and due Consideration had of what was offered on either Side in this Cause:

Judgement affirmed, with Costs.

It is Ordered and Adjudged, by the Lords Spiritual and Temporal in Parliament assembled, That the said Petition and Appeal be, and is hereby, dismissed this House; and that the said Decree therein complained of be, and the same is hereby, affirmed: And it is further Ordered, That the Appellant do pay, or cause to be paid, to the Respondents, the Sum of One Hundred Pounds, of lawful Money of Great Britain, for their Costs in respect of the said Appeal.

The Duke of Leeds reported from the Lords Committees to whom the Bill, intituled, "An Act for repairing the Road leading from Eland to the Town of Leeds, in the West Riding of the County of York," was committed: "That they had considered the said Bill, and examined the Allegations thereof, which they found to be true; and that the Committee had gone through the Bill, and directed him to report the same to the House, without any Amendment.

Doneaster to Saltersbrooke Road, Bill.

The said Duke made the like Report from the Lords Committees to whom the Bill, intituled, "An Act for repairing the Road from Doncaster (through the Parish of Peniston), in the County of York, to Saltersbrooke, in the County of Chester; and also the Road from Rotherham, in the said County of York, to Hartcliffe Hill, in the said Parish of Peniston," was committed.

Redhouse to Wakefield, Road Bill.

His Grace made the same Report from the Lords Committees to whom the Bill, intituled, "An Act for repairing the Roads from a Place called Redhouse, near Doncaster, to Wakefield, and through the said Town of Wakefield, by Dewsbury, Hightown, and Lightcliff, to the Town of Halifax, in the West Riding of the County of York," was committed.

Coggs and Dann, Bill.

The same Duke made the like Report from the Lords Committees to whom the Bill, intituled, "An Act for appointing new Commissioners and Trustees, for putting in Execution an Act passed in the Eighth Year of the Reign of Her late Majesty Queen Anne, intituled, "An Act for vesting the Estate and Effects of John Coggs and John Dann Goldsmiths and Copartners, in Trustees, for the speedier Payment of their Creditors," and for determining Differences thereupon," was committed.

King's Answer to Address for Papers concerning the Turkey Trade.

The Lord Steward reported, "That the Lords with White Staves had, pursuant to the Order on Wednesday last, presented to His Majesty their Lordships Address, for Copies of Memorials of the Levant Company to the Duke of Newcastle; and that His Majesty was pleased to say, "He would give Order, that the same should be laid before the House accordingly."

Aldgate Church, Bill:
