A Message from the House of Commons, by Mr. Farrer and others:

With a Bill, intituled, "An Act against the clandestine Running of uncustomed and prohibited Goods; and for the more effectual preventing of Frauds relating to the Customs and Excise;" to which they desire the Concurrence of this House.

Dover Harbour, Bill.

Upon reading the Petition of several Merchants, in and about the City of London and Parts adjacent, in Behalf of themselves and others concerned in Navigation; praying, "That the Duties may not be continued on their Trade and Navigation, towards the Repair of Dover Harbour, any longer, except on such Ships only as enter the Port; and that the Accompts of the Money raised by Parliament for the Repair of the said Harbour, with the Accompt of Disbursements of the same, and also that an Accompt of the Town Duties, and Pier or Harbour Rents, and how the same hath been expended, may also be laid before this House; and that the Petitioners may be heard, by their Counsel or otherwise, against the Bill relating to the Repair of the said Harbour:"

It is Ordered, That the said Bill be read a Second Time on Tuesday next; and that the Petitioners may be heard, by One Counsel, before the said Second Reading; as may also Counsel for the Bill be heard at the same Time; and that the Accompts abovementioned, so far as the same have been made up, be laid before this House, between this and the Time appointed for the Second Reading of the said Bill.

Robbery, &c. to prevent, Bill.

The Earl of Clarendon acquainted the House, "That the Committee to whom the Bill for the further preventing Robbery, Burglary, and other Felonies, was committed, had gone through the Bill, and made several Amendments thereunto; which they had directed him to report, when their Lordships will please to receive the same."

Ordered, That the Report of the said Amendments be received on Monday next.

Petition of the Port of Margate, against Dover Harbour Bill.

A Petition of several Owners and Masters of Ships and Vessels, on Behalf of themselves and others belonging to the Town and Port of Margate, in the County of Kent; praying, "That they may be heard what they have to object against the Payment of the Duty imposed by the Bill relating to the Repair of Dover Harbour; or, if the said Bill should pass, that a Clause may be inserted, That the Ships and Vessels belonging to the said Port of Margate may be exempted from Payment of any Duties towards the Repair of the said Harbour of Dover," was presented to the House, and read.

Ordered, That the Petition do lie on the Table, till the said Bill be read a Second Time.

Bristol Workhouse, Bill.

Whereas this Day was appointed, for the House to be in a Committee of the whole House on the Bill relating to the Hospital and Workhouse at Bristol:

It is Ordered, That this House shall be put into a Committee thereupon on Wednesday next, the First Business; and the Lords to be summoned.

Lanoy, &c. versus Werry, &c.:

After hearing Counsel, upon the Petition and Appeal of Sir Timothy Lanoy Knight and Thomas Vernon Esquire, complaining of Part of an Order, made by the present Lord Chancellor, on arguing Exceptions to the Master's Report, the Seventeenth of December last, in a Cause wherein the Appellants were Plaintiffs, and John Werry and John Trewolla Defendants; and praying, "That so much of the said Order as disallows the Second and Fourth Exceptions to the Master's Report, so far as they relate to the Forty-six Days the said Defendants, with their Ships The Swallow and Beak Galleys, stayed at Falmouth, may be reversed, and the said Exceptions so far allowed, and the Appellants discharged from the Payment of any Demurrage in respect thereof, or be otherwise relieved touching the same as to this House shall seem meet:" As also upon the Answer of the said John Werry and John Trewolla put in to the said Appeal; and due Consideration of what was offered in this Cause:

Judgement by Agreement.

It is, with the Consent of the Parties on either Side, Ordered and Adjudged, by the Lords Spiritual and Temporal in Parliament assembled, That so much of the said Order of the Court of Chancery, as is complained of in the said Appeal, be so far varied, as that the Payment of Thirty Days Demurrage by the Appellants, of the said Forty-six Days, be, and is hereby, reduced to Twenty-three Days.
