Bp. Durham's Petition for Writings to lie on the Table.

A Petition of the Right Honourable Nathaniel Lord Crew, Lord Bishop of Durham, was presented to the House, and read; praying, "That Sir Henry Liddell, Respondent to the Petitioner's Appeal, may be ordered to produce, at the Hearing the said Appeal, a Deed, or Indenture of Purchase, bearing Date on or about the Fifth of November in the Fifth Year of King James the First; and that the Petitioner may also have Leave to produce, and use as far as to this House shall seem meet, as well such Records and Evidences as are mentioned and referred to by an Affidavit read in the Court of Chancery, or true authentic Copies thereof, as the said Proofs which were taken in the said Cause on the Behalf of the said Appellant, and which were opened, or admitted as read, upon the Hearing of the said Cause; the Petitioner giving Notice thereof to the Respondent."

Ordered, That the said Petition do lie on the Table.

Long's Petition referred to Judges.

Upon reading the Petition of Sarah Long Widow, Relict and Executrix of Nathaniel Long, late of London, Merchant, deceased, on Behalf of herself, and of Sarah, John, Anne, and Lucy Long, their Children; praying, That Leave may be given to bring in a Bill, for Sale of the Estate of the said Nathaniel Long, for Payment of his Debts, and applying the Residue according to the Directions of his Will:"

It is Ordered, That the Consideration of the said Petition be, and is hereby, referred to Mr. Baron Montagu and Mr. Baron Fortescue; who are forthwith to summon all Parties concerned in the Bill; and, after hearing them, to report to the House the State of the Case, with their Opinion thereupon, under their Hands, and whether all Parties that may be concerned in the Consequences of the Bill have signed the Petition; and also that the Judges, having perused the Bill, do sign the same.

Lyon's Petition for Costs referred to Committee.

A Petition of Katherine Lyon, the Widow of John Lyon of Muresk Esquire, deceased, was presented to the House, and read; reciting an Order and Judgement of this House, on hearing her Appeal, the Twenty-second of August 1715; and praying, "That their Lordships will please to enforce the same, by effectually obliging the Lords of Session in Scotland to cause the Petitioner's Bill of Costs to be taxed and ascertained, according to the Acts of Regulation of Fees; and that the same be then forthwith paid her, without further Suit."

Ordered, That the Lords following be, and are hereby, appointed a Committee, to consider the Matter of the said Petition, and the Facts alledged therein; and to search Precedents; and report to the House what is fit to be done thereon:

Land Tax Bill.

Hodie 2a vice lecta est Billa, intituled, "An Act for granting an Aid to His Majesty, by a Land Tax, to be raised in Great Britain, for the Service of the Year One Thousand Seven Hundred and Eighteen."

Ordered, That the said Bill be committed to a Committee of the whole House, on Monday next.

Dawson to enter into a Recognizance for Carlton;

The House being moved, "That Mead Dawson, of The Middle Temple, London, Esquire, may be permitted to enter into a Recognizance for John Carlton Gentleman and others, upon their Appeal depending in this House; they being in Ireland:"

It is Ordered, That the said Mead Dawson may enter into a Recognizance for the said Appellants accordingly.

and Stevenson for Stevenson.

The like Order for Alexand'r Stevenson to enter into a Recognizance for Catherine Stevenson and her Husband, for a Reason of the same Nature.

Shipperdson's Bill:

Hodie 1a vice lecta est Billa, intituled, "An Act to enable Ralph Shipperdson Esquire to make Sale of his Estate in Studley Roger, in the County of York, freed from the Uses and Trusts in the said Ralph Shipperdson's Marriage Settlement; and to settle his Estate at East Mourton, in the County of Durham, to the same Uses."

Shand to enter into Recognizance for Cochran.

The House being moved, "That William Shand, of St. James's, West'r, Gentleman, may enter into a Recognizance for William Cochran Esquire, upon his Appeal depending in this House; he being absent."

It is Ordered, That the said William Shand may enter into a Recognizance for the said William Cochran, as desired.

Boeteseur Nat. Bill.

Hodie 1a vice lecta est Billa, intituled, "An Act for naturalizing Abraham Boetefeur."
