PRAYERS.

Norris versus Johnson, in Error.

Upon reading the Petition of Robert Norris, of London, Merchant; praying, "That a Day may be appointed, for hearing the Errors argued, upon the Writ of Error depending in this House, wherein Samuel Johnson, late of London, Mercer, is Plaintiff, and the Petitioner Defendant:"

It is Ordered, by the Lords Spiritual and Temporal in Parliament assembled, That this House will hear the Errors argued in this Case, by Counsel, at the Bar, on Friday next, at Eleven a Clock.

Highways Bill.

The House (according to Order) was adjourned during Pleasure, and put into a Committee, to consider further of the Bill, intituled, "An Act for making the Laws for repairing the Highways more effectual; and for the better paving and cleansing the Streets in the City of London and Suburbs thereof."

And, after some Time spent therein, the House was resumed.

And the Earl of Clarendon reported from the said Committee, "That they had gone through the Bill, and made several Amendments thereunto; which they had directed him to report, when the House will please to receive the same."

Ordered, That the Report be received on Monday next.

Messages from H. C. to return the Assizes for Cornwall Bill;

A Message from the House of Commons, by Mr. Bond and others:

To return the Bill, intituled, "An Act for holding the Assize for the County of Cornwal at a convenient Place within the said County;" and to acquaint this House, that they have agreed to their Lordships Amendments made thereto.

and Sunderland Bill.

A Message from the House of Commons, by Mr. Wentworth and others:

To return the Bill, intituled, "An Act for vesting certain Lands and Tenements of Peter Sunderland Esquire in Trustees, to be sold, for Payment of Debts charged thereon before the making of his Marriage Settlement, and by virtue thereof;" and to acquaint this House, that they have agreed to the same, without any Amendment.

Dalton to enter into Recognizance for Rochfort.

Upon reading the Petition of Robert Rochford Esquire; praying, "In regard he is now in Ireland, that Richard Dalton Gentleman, his Agent, may enter into a Recognizance, on account of the Petitioner's Appeal depending in this House:"

It is Ordered, That the said Richard Dalton may enter into a Recognizance for the Petitioner, as desired.

Oaths, Time to take, to prolong, Bill.

The House (according to Order) was adjourned during Pleasure, and put into a Committee upon the Bill, intituled, "An Act for prolonging the Time for Persons to take the Oaths, pursuant to the Act for the further Security of His Majesty's Person and Government; and the Succession of the Crown in the Heirs of the late Princess Sophia, being Protestants; and for extinguishing the Hopes of the pretended Prince of Wales and his open and secret Abettors."

And, after some Time spent therein, the House was resumed.

And the Earl of Clarendon reported from the Committee, "That they had made some Progress in the Bill; and had directed him to move, that they may have Leave to fit again."

Ordered, That this House shall be put into a Committee of the whole House, to consider further of the said Bill, on Wednesday next.
