Wright versus Ramsey.

The House being moved; on the Behalf of William Ramsey Esquire, Respondent to the Appeal of Robert Wright Esquire and others, "That a Day may be appointed for hearing the same:"

It is Ordered, That this House will hear the said Cause, by Counsel, at the Bar, on Thursday the Twenty-fifth Day of this Instant August, at Eleven a Clock.

A Message was brought from the House of Commons, by Sir John Ward and others:

With a Bill, intituled, "An Act for Relief of Merchants, Importers of Tobacco and Wine, concerned in Bonds given for Part of the Duties on the same;" to which they desire the Concurrence of this House.

Bank Fund, enlarging, Bill.

Hodie 3^a vice lecta est Billa, intituled, "An Act for enlarging the Fund of the Governor and Company of the Bank of England, relating to Exchequer Bills; and for settling an additional Revenue of One Hundred and Twenty Thousand Pounds per Annum upon His Majesty, during His Life, for the Service of the Civil Government; and for establishing a certain Fund of Fifty-four Thousand Six Hundred Pounds per Annum, in order to raise a Sum not exceeding Nine Hundred and Ten Thousand Pounds, for the Service of the Public, by Sale of Annuities after the Rate of Six Pounds per Cent. per Annum, redeemable by Parliament; and for satisfying an Arrear for Work and Materials at Bleinheim, incurred whilst that Building was carried on at the Expence of Her late Majesty Queen Anne, of Blessed Memory; and for other Purpose therein mentioned."

The Question was put, "Whether this Bill shall pass?"

It was Resolved in the Affirmative.

A Message was sent to the House of Commons, by Mr. Rogers and Mr. Hiccocks:

To acquaint them, that the Lords have agreed to the said Bill, without any Amendment.

Causes put off.

Ordered, That the Cause wherein Henry Newburgh Gentleman is Appellant, and Brockhill Newburgh Esquire Respondent, which was appointed to be heard this Day, be put off till To-morrow, the First Business; and the other Causes removed in Course.

Tanner's Bill:

Ordered, That the Bill, intituled, "An Act for the further Security of His Majesty's Person and Government; and the Succession of the Crown in the Heirs of the late Princess Sophia, being Protestants; and for extinguishing the Hopes of the pretended Prince of Wales, and his open and secret Abettors," be read the Third Time To-morrow.

L. Fitzwalter's Privilege: Wilkinson & al. Fishermen, to be discharged.

Upon reading the Petition of Richard Wilkinson and Ralph Hoskins, Fishermen, in Custody of the Serjeant at Arms attending this House, for a Breach of Privilege, in fishing in the River of Burnham in Essex, belonging to the Lord Fitzwalter; expressing their Sorrow for their Offence, and begging Pardon and Forgiveness of this House for the same; and that, in regard to their Poverty and Distress, they may be discharged without paying their Fees:

It is Ordered, That the Petitioners be brought to the Bar of this House To-morrow Morning, in order to receive a Reprimand for their Offence, and be discharged, paying their Fees.

Hamilton versus University of Glasgow.

Upon reading the Petition and Appeal of James Hamilton of Dalziel Esquire, from the Interlocutors of the Lords of Council and Session in Scotland, of the 24th and 28th of July 1713, and that Part of the Interlocutor of the 31st of the same July, affirming the said former Interlocutors, and resusing the Desire of the Petitioner's Supplication; and likewise the Interlocutors of the 18th of November 1713, and 9th of July 1715, and 28th of the same July, praying, "That the said Interlocutors may be reversed; and that Sir John Maxwell of Pollock One of the Senators of the College of Justice Rector, Mr. John Hamilton One of the Ministers of Glasgow Dean of Faculty, Mr. John Stirling Principal, Mr. John Simpson Prosessor of Divinity, Mr. William Forbes Professor of Law, Mr. John Johnson Professor of Medicine, Mr. Gersham Carmichall, Mr. John London, and Mr. Robert Dick, Professors of Philosophy, Mr. Alexander Dunlop Professor of Greek, Mr. Andrew Ross Professor of Humanity, Mr. Charles Murtland Professor of the Oriental Languages, and Mr. Robert Simpson Professor of Mathematicks, in the University of Glasgow, may be ordered to answer the said Appeal; and that the Petitioner may have such Relief as to the House shall seem meet:"

It is Ordered, by the Lords Spiritual and Temporal in Parliament assembled, That the said Sir John Maxwell and the other Persons abovenamed may have a Copy of the said Appeal; and shall and are hereby required to put in their Answer or respective Answers thereunto, in Writing, on or before Thursday the Eighth Day of September next.
